Absolutely wonderful family owned place! I got their #15 Pho and couldn't be any happier with the quality, taste and flavor! Wonderful place, super friendly and helpful staff! Their Coconut Bubba Tea is probably one of the best BT I've had due to the creaminess and wonderful coconut flavor. I cannot recommend this place enough, will definitely eat here again next time I'm in Columbia, SC! 🙌🏼

Great place and nice workers here! I can’t believe how excited I was when I went to this restaurant. Their servers are wonderful and nice. I never went to a place with so many great and professional servers. Whenever you asked them, they would give whatever you need.
Some people blamed on their early closing time. I would say, if you have a restaurant or if you ever worked in a restaurant, you should know they need some time to close and clean before they close the restaurant. If they close at 8:30pm.
PLEASE do not come there after 8:00pm. Everybody who work there has to wait on you!!! Because you can’t finish your food within half an hour(this includes ordering and paying) And everybody has to finish their work late. Please do not add extra trouble to them and tip nothing. That is so rude.

Had the #15 pho. The broth was a little perfume like but every thing in it was really good. Added some hoisin sauce and it really came alive. Also had the #70 pork and shrimp and it was really good as well.

Great little spot. They always accommodate when I ask for more sides when ordering to-go. Dining in is nice too. I wish they had more size variations in their Pho - the only size it comes in is a regular. As a family of Pho lovers, we usually want a large. But it’s still so yummy.

First time trying this place out. Took one bite ... disgusting. I hate to do this but they only had one couple inside the restaurant. So I don’t understand why I taste like it has been sitting out all day. This meal is going in the trash. I’m completely turned off and will never return back to this place. disappointing

Found this little gem after attending a (Army) graduation at Fort Jackson. If you are in the area and have a hankering for authentic Vietnamese food you'd be remiss if you passed this place by! I had a Salmon dish No. 78 on the menu for a frame of reference. I also had a honey do smoothie with boba; everything was amazingly flavorful! If ever I'm in Columbia SC I will be back.

This place is legit. Wife & I had the Pho Dac Biet #10. The bowl was huge, filled with goodness - aromatic burning hot rich beef broth, tender & succulent cuts of beef, and fresh & silky rice noodles. The iced milk coffee was strong & sweet, text book formula. The fried spring rolls were crunchy good. We will return soon, even though we’re 70 miles away.

Very rude lot. I asked for Pho with a vegetable/vegetarian broth. When I informed them what I was given was in fact chicken they retorted that they “used a vegetable bullion cube.” I am 100% sure it wasn’t a true vegetarian broth and contained chicken. When I returned it for a refund the woman at the counter had the nastiest attitude attitude ever. This would explain why they only ever have 6 customers a day. I absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone.

Food was good but the place needs a lot of cosmetic updates. Cleanliness is sub-par. The men restroom looks like a third world place. I will NOT come here again.
The Flying Shrimp
One of my favorite places to come alone or bring a friend. The servers are very friendly and accommodating. Food is great and typically doesn't take very long. I always start with #3 - Crispy Rolls, and then order #13 - brisket and flank steak with rice noodles. It is _a lot_ of food, but I have never been disappointed with the taste or quality. Love, love, love.

I had high hopes as the ratings were pretty decent. However, I think those who rated this place may never have eaten at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant or have a mother-in-law who makes killer pho.

The pho was very bland and not piping hot. When I asked for fish sauce I was given the sugared version. One redeeming feature is the staff - very friendly. The place is falling apart - ripped seats, chipped tables, peeling paint, dirty/potentially leaky ceiling.

***CAUTION: the women's bathroom sink was done backwards and my daughter nearly burned her hand because of it. Hot on the right and cold on the left. If I had gone to the bathroom first, I probably would have probably gone to another place to eat.

My husband and I get take out from here often. He gets the rare steak pho and I get the veggie pho. I am a vegetarian so it's a great option for me. My only complaint is that the veggie pho isn't as flavorful as some other places I have gone, but I can fix that with some sriracha. They are huge portions so perfect for leftovers!

Also love the veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce.

When you sit down just say #10 with meatballs! Its good!! :)

Mmm. Get the vegetarian spring rolls with tofu, beef pho with rare steak/brisket, and an iced coffee and you will leave a very happy person ;)

I've had pho at several authentic Vietnamese and Cambodian reataurants, in the US and abroad, and Pho Viet is probably my second favorite. I base this judgement primarily on one dish: pho tai nam gan. Granted, service is not the best but that's not why I come here. Their pho base is spot on and they're generous with meat portions. The noodles are never overcooked. Sprouts are fresh and crisp and they serve thai basil instead of cilantro when it's available. Their summer rolls are also a great authentic starter - love that dipping sauce!

How can you go wrong with noodle soup? The perfect food for soothing hangovers, the common cold, and your tired soul. Pho Viet does a good job of serving this hearty meal.

Comfort food. This is a great place to eat. I love the food. It is so nice and cozy and the wait staff are wonderful. Some times the cook comes out and that is amazing. He is so serious but every thing looks and tastes so good. I am happy just thinking about it.

Finally some pho. Not really authentic.. yet all we have in cola!!!
service was kinda slow, slack.... but I ate everything I ordered!!!!

Yuck. This place has gone way downhill. And the restaurant hasn't even been open very long! The food is really bland. The one dish that I actually liked and that reasonably tasted Vietnamese was actually taken off the menu. Service was horrible. Long waits and terrible staff.

WEIRD WAIT STAFF...HORRIBLE SERVICE. An incredibly bad restaurant. The food is mediocre and the service is awful. Their wait staff is incredibly rude and incredibly weird. It took a long time to get any service. And then when I went up to pay, the waiter went off on some bizarre scary tirade. Not going back!!!!!

So what's all the fuss about?. I was disappointed that they did not over more choices for veggies... My dish was just okay.. The spring roll fell apart..didn't love it & didn't hate it.. The up side is the portions are generous may go back for the veggie soup dish and a cold and rainy day to give them another try...

So disappointed by this nasty place. I can't help but wonder if the Five Points location just changed ownership/management. I'd heard such great things about the Decker location and was so please to hear there might be a great Vietnamese place in town! However, this location/restaurant was sticky/dirty, the waitstaff was just bizarre, and the food was borderline edible. The television competed noise-wise with loud radio playing a mix of commercials and pop country-western. That might have been kitchy and okay if the food was good, but it wasn't even close. The broth of the veggie Pho is made from Knox bouillon cubes (waitress showed me the box), though the menu brags about the broth as the most important Pho ingredient. (Also: out of jelly tea. Seems like that's not even an option, so don't go if that's what you're going for without calling first.) The fresh spring rolls were just okay, barely--not gross but lacking the herbs and veggies you'd find in the good version of the dish and served with what tasted like bottled heavy-on-the-cornstarch sauce. The only good thing about the food is this: the Pho is served with a plate of fresh garnished: sriracha leaves, lime wedge, sprouts, fabulously hot peppers. (The sprouts were a little old looking but okay.) That's mostly what I ate. One more upside: the food is pretty cheap ($7.95 for the veggie Pho), but that's also a lot of money to pay for food that's too bad to eat much of. So I am ... baffled.

Pho Viet makes me happy. An impressive mural greets the visitor. The interior has a lot of very interesting green on the walls! I always get the same thing: #20, Chicken Pho. HOT, brothy, full of chicken (an occasional bone). (The music piped in is sometimes a little sketchy, though. I'd prefer something other than scratchy R&R)

Wow. I've been to several Vietnamese places around the country, and this one in Columbia, SC has earned the gold medal. As mentioned before, the food is brought out almost immediately (depending on what you order), and the staff are, as you would expect, happy.... But the thing that really caught me was the freshness and AWESOMENESS of the food. Every dish I've seen served out of the one here in SC, (at least 10 different dishes), has been cooked/prepared to perfection, and every single person that I have taken there has been happy and impressed. My wife and I get the spring rolls (#1) and the Pho Chin (#12) spicy every time.... Try it, love it....

The food is fast and delicious, but the staff is usually slow and not always very polite. However, it doesn't keep us away. Wish they would use milk alternatives for their bubble teas since I am lactose intolerant and love me some bubble tea!!!

Always room for Pho!. I was delighted to hear that a Pho restaurant was opening in 5 Points.

I ordered the spring rolls and veggie Pho. The spring rolls were pretty good, but I was surprised to find there was chicken, or turkey in the rolls - it was a somewhat unpleasant surprise. The peanut sauce was delicious! There are a few things that I would change about the spring rolls that would make me come in daily - leave out the poultry and perhaps add some cilantro or basil.
The Pho was also pretty good, but the veggies left me wanting a little more variety. Maybe some snow peas, shitake mushrooms, or even red peppers.

The service was excellent and quick. I got my order to go, and I was promptly greeted and given a to go menu. The packaging of my to go order was efficient and they put everything I needed in there. Napkins, fork, spoon, chopsticks, hoisen sauce, siracha hot sauce, etc. The pho broth and veggie mix were packaged separately and there was a separate bag with jalepenos, bean sprouts, lime, cilantro, etc.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I will definitely come back. Hopefully they ditch the chicken/turkey in the spring rolls.

So good!. This was my first foray into Vietnamese food, so I'm hardly an expert. I can't speak on authenticity, but the pho always tastes great. It's really filling and tastes particularly good if you're feeling a little under-the-weather. Try the crispy spring rolls, too!

Like sleep, this soup is full of sustenance and healing. Not necessarily ideal for a 100+ degree day, I can imagine coming to Pho Viet on the verge of a cold and ordering a bowl of pho to go.
