Best chicken in Columbia by far. Best baked beans I have ever had also. Highly recommend. You have to try them if you come to town. We use them for large to go orders and they handle them well.
June 15, 2017 · by willoughbyandy · in Fried Chicken, South Carolina, Southeast · Leave a comment. As I planned a trip to Myrtle Beach, I realized that Columbia was about midway – and I had recently heard about Bernie’s Fried Chicken. I had thought about stopping on the way up, but that was on Sunday – the one day of the week they are closed. We were heading home on a Thursday and they were open. Destination established. This place is a fried chicken factory.
The chicken has always been delicious everytime I got it. The fries are cooked just right, with the right amount of crisp in each bite and not hard or soggy. Potato salad is also really good. Compared to other chicken places, I have not had that feeling of getting tired of their food or not wanting to eat. Its just that good.
Nice, down home feel. Ordered the chicken club sandwich. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, buns were soft but not soggy, crispy bacon, even the veggies were fresh. Well worth the reverse racism.
3 Piece Special. Always get the 3 piece special, white meat. Never needed to try anything else there. Best fried chicken in town. Lots of flavor in the skin. Always served hot. Can be tough to find a table during the lunch rush and will need alot of napkins.
Very good fried chicken and fries
Fantabulous!. Best Chicken in town. The key is to catch them during the 'rush' hour, because that's when the chicken is being cranked out hot!
Broasted chicken is really good but it is worth paying extra for white meat only. The tea is good and the fries are bland. It is worth coming in for the chicken.
Best Fried Chicken Anywhere. Bernie's is our go to place for a quick lunch during the work week. You won't find Fried Chicken this good anywhere else. The 3 piece special with fries, coleslaw, roll, and sweet tea for just under $6.00 is quite a deal. Add an extra .25 cents (I think) for all white meat. I've turned tons of people on to Bernie's and they all love it just as much as we do.
Delicious chicken--that's about all you need to know. Special comes with slaw, French fries, roll, and sweet tea. Slaw and tea are delightful, roll and fries not so much. But that's not why you're here. Atmosphere is working-class and folks of all walks of life eat here: young and old, black and white, blue and white collar. Pecan pie was tasty but flatly-flavored.
