This place is a GEM! From Guillermo upfront, to Alfred himself cooking right in front of you in an intimate setting, everything about this place is spot on. Make sure and call for a table; they were turning away all walk ins....last thing, get the halibut special when offered. I have eaten in the finest establishments everywhere I go, and this was right up there with the best. Highly recommend!!!!
We had two veal dishes, including special veal chop, excellent. Potato pancakes app also traditional and excellent. Proverbial and literal hidden gem, you wouldn't likely stumble on it if it wasn't your destination. We went based on comments on line, not disappointed.
If you don’t look for this joint, you’ll miss it. One of the best places for a foodie on HHI. I had the mushroom soup and a mackerel special. Came here for the schnitzel.
Good God, you have to drop in. Heath and Linda are here. Present and accounted for sit at the bar and watch the masters work.

We had a fabulous time at Alfred’s. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was bustling and a pretty setting. Loved the open kitchen and being able to see the chefs creating the delicious food. I hope my pictures do it justice for the flavours of the dishes.
This is one of Hilton Heads hidden gems. A resturant tucked away that offers outstanding food and service. We booked a reservation is advance through the online service and were welcomed by friendly staff upon arrival. We were taken care of by Ian who was extremely knowledgeable on all items on the menu and made great suggestions. Our party included a guest with a crab allergy and Ian took the extra steps to ensure no crab came in contact with any of the food.
My recommendation for anyone coming planning a visit to Alfred's is MAKE A RESERVATION! You don't want to miss out on any of the food here! As an annual visitor to Hilton Head this has become one our MUST GO TO resturantsand will be coming back again and again
What a wonderful flavor filled dinner we enjoyed at Alfred’s German Restaurant on Hilton Head Island. My wife has been twice and this was my first time - wow one of the best dinners in 2023 on HHI.
We had a great bottle of Cab Sauv and s Tomato, cheese, and balsamic vinegar salad to start. My wife called 24 hours in advance to request Alfred’s Beef Wellington which was superbly prepared. I enjoyed the Halibut special with Potato pancake - again wonderful sauce and flavors. Both entrees were served piping hot (thank you!).
We cannot wait to return to Alfred’s soon.

Absolutely phenomenal!!! This is a must stop if you are on the Island!! So thankful to our server and everyone there!! This was my birthday celebration and they definitely made it one to remember. My husband was a chef and published in a magazine in Charleston South Carolina and I used to manage restaurants as well. In my 41 years and his 52 years of living we have been all over the US. This is by far the BEST! Between the food and the service this place is a 10 out of 10!!
Who would have thought you could find great German food on Hilton Head Island! But you can. Alfred is retired and the current chef is from New Zealand but they make German food as good as anyone.
The German mixed plate is amazing with sauerbraten, bratwurst, and wiener schnitzel. If you have room for dessert, the Black Forest Cake from nearby French Bakery is excellent.
They have a few German wines on the menu and pour a generous glass of bourbon too!
Last tip, split the German Mixed Plate with a friend. Yes they charge a split entree fee, but they give you more than half each so it’s worth it. Love this place and can’t wait to go back.
What a delicious meal we had. Great service Katherine(Kat) our server was amazing. Would definitely go back. We both had the Halibut dish. One was a special and one was a regular on the menu. Both delicious.the apple strudel is a must must. Leave room for dessert.
Our favorite part of our annual trip! The food, service, and atmosphere are ALWAYS out of this world. The French onion soup is the best I’ve ever had in my life. We love it here!!
Hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Great service from the second we approached the front door. Great food. I sampled both of our apps and all four entrees and they were all very good. Very good wines and a solid pour of diSaronna with the apple streudel for dessert.
What an amazing restaurant, a perfectly hidden Hilton Head Island gem! The food is spectacularly delicious, the wait staff extremely good I will definitely eat here again!!! You should too
