Review The Mad Duck - Clovis

Stoned Soup
I always get the chicken or steak salad. Sometimes the beef is tough but you can't go wrong with the chicken. They even let you substitute grilled for breaded. Delicious. Can get packed at night but they also have outdoor seating.

I have come here twice within the past month and a half and have been impressed with the service. Today, when I visited, the table at the booth I was going to sit at had what looked like animal hair on it, and when I asked for it to be cleaned, it was cleaned right away. The food was delicious, though the tater tots have been cold each time I visited.

Always great food, great beer, and mixed drinks. Service is great, never have had to wait, food is served timely, and they refill drinks! Portion sizes of food are large, not large enough that I’d want to share, but I can’t ever finish all the food served. The pretzel in the picture was really good.

Perfect day to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Service was great food even better. Tater tots were super salty. When I told my server she made it right.

Excellent food with lots of flavor. Great place to meet up for a drink and dinner. Prices are reasonable. The locations is great. And there is a decent amount of room inside. Definitely worth checking out.

We love the food, drinks, and atmosphere here! The staff is friendly and easygoing. It's not overpriced, it's a mellow and entertaining atmosphere! It's great for adult time or family time. Thanks Mad Duck!

We are glad to finally make it to The Mad Duck. Such a casual spot for lunch and beer. Chris provided excellent service and made sure we felt welcomed. They have a great beer selection and the food is so good! The fried pickles are a must! We look forward adding The Mad Duck to our favorite list. They will also have a st. Patrick’s Day food menu from 3/11-3/17.

Well we are back as usual! Went to two local brewery restaurants this week and BOTH gave us checks after not ordering deserts. Just confirming! WE ARE HERE FOR THE BEER! Keep the tab open and serve us please.

August 20th was my 51st birthday so I took my wife and daughter to the Mad Duck @ 7050 N Marks yesterday evening to celebrate.

This was also our first time at Mad Duck so we were very excited because this location had just opened and is very close to our home and we were hoping for a convenient, quality eating establishment to frequent.

Upon arrival my daughter knew the hostess and we had an excellent waiter named Anthony. The ambiance of the restaurant was also very nice.

The majority of our food was good, but most of the menu is burgers which is the very reason we came as well as the reason I am writing this review.

Both me and my daughter ordered a burger and after the very first bite we BOTH looked at each other and said "this needs salt."

This may seem like a very minor and/or petty complaint, but being a catering chef myself we understand that the unpardonable sin of any entrée or dish especially beef/burgers is a lack of seasonings and these two burgers were definitely lacking in the seasoning department. "No seasoning...no flavor." The burgers were well prepared however with fresh buns and vegetables, but the lack of seasoning/flavor was unacceptable.

My daughter asked for extra BBQ sauce to get hers down and I went heavy on the salt and pepper shakers to give mine flavor. To keep from wasting it I ate the remainder of her burger....adding much BBQ sauce as she did.

You may ask "Why didn't you just tell your waiter and have him bring you something else." As I mentioned....the reason we came to Mad Duck was for the burgers and if "both" of our burgers were that unseasoned we were sure any others would be as well.

My wife had the ribs however and they were excellent, but the whiskey BBQ beans were as forgettable as the burgers. The beans themselves were too tough (under cooked) and the sauce also lacked seasoning with a thin, watery consistency.

I suggested to them a bit of bacon with some molasses, brown sugar, a little red pepper sauce and a little more whiskey for a kick as well as slow-cooking them open-container on the smoker for added smoke flavor and a bit of thickening.

The sweet potato fries were bomb however as well as our desserts although they could've used a larger (or additional) scoop of ice cream for 8 and 9 bucks a pop....especially on my birthday which Anthony informed us when my wife asked....Mad Duck doesn't reward.

I wrote Mad Duck and told them of our less-than-stellar experience; most of which is in this review.

My birthday dinner that night cost me almost a hundred bucks for 3 meals which included tasteless burgers, watery, flavorless beans and two desserts topped with two tablespoons of ice cream along with ...."Thanks for the email...sorry....hope to meet you one day...we'll have a beer and...Happy Birthday." Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

The Mad Duck is great. They have great service and a friendly atmosphere. I lived in Clovis for a couple of years and it felt like a home style environment whenever you see people in your subdivision going there to enjoy the night out. I met a family member once, who worked there and she had a great attitude and pleasant to talk with. I would suggest anybody who lives in the Clovis/Fresno area to go eat at the Mad Duck, and by the way if the daughter? or sister? would contact me aggain I would appreciate it. We are "old" friends, and thinking about coming to the area before mid nov. She is about 4'9" and sent me a text but traveling back from Dallas, i lost her number, sorry. Only way i could think of to get in contact. 559-681-6861. thanks. Timothy Murphy.e@gmail.com have a great week, and glad to hear your business has moved and hopefully doing great!!!

The mad duck is a Nice little pub. The food was good ( had a grilled chicken sandwich) And the happy hour was not too bad. The service was not as tentative as it could have been. And it would be nice to not have to buy the fries separately but you cannot win them all. Cozy setting though. I will probably end up going there again for lunch when I'm not in a hurry.

Very Nice Sports Bar. I went looking for a place to watch the Rose Bowl today and found the Mad Duck Grill to be a nice place to settle in at the bar. The Napa Burger and sweet potato fries were excellent. The big TVs were bright and close, with one tuned into ESPN and the other on ESPN News. The sound was off, which suited me fine. This is a place for quiet conversation with friends while enjoying good food. The bartender/manager was very polite and accommodating. I didn't feel the least bit rushed. This small, somewhat upscale establishment has my recommendation.

3 Strikes and you're OUT!!!!!. One of the worst dinning experiences EVER!!!!
I have been here 3 times now, and the experiences just get worse everytime. On my last trip the waitress asked if we needed more time with our menus since "we had just gotten there", too bad we had been there almost 30 minutes with no service.
On the flip side, the place is great if you are a trendy hipster douche in your early twenty's, wearing your backward trucker hat.
WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!!!

Over priced for what u get ! 5.00 for 5-6 onion rings not that big either. Bad ambiance !!! Blaring TV VOLUME. Loud guys at the bar. This is 3:00 in the afternoon !!! Sandwiches ok, I've had better! Nothing to write home about .

The food was decent but the waiter was very short and rude. Also, it took a very very, long time to get our food. Waited almost half an hour for our check after our table was already cleared. Good atmosphere through, also good beer selection.

Fun atmosphere, great food!. Cheap eats and above average bar food. All of the salads are fresh, like you made it from home. Fries, tatie tots, burgers and sandwiches are great. Can't go wrong with a beer and a bite from Mad Duck...and very inexpensive!!

Monday night football and the best/hottest chicken wings in town. Make this place the bomb. Great burgers and sandwiches. Many beers on tap. Help support local genius and pay these guys s visit.

Bring your own utensils. Good food, reasonable prices, good service and PLASTIC forks and spoons. Ok if you're having a hamburger but not very pleasant for the soup or salad. Soups get real bowls but salads get stainless steel mixing bowls which are designed to spin. A little hard to nail down a tomato. Which a small upgrade in equipment this could be a good restaurant and bar.

A Great Place for Burgers & Beer!. What an nice little Taphouse! Lot of beers to choose from on tap. Friendly workers, good service, and good food to match! I actually went there 2 nights in a row for dinner, it was that good, and I got to try different things. It also looks like this place would be an nice place to hang out with friends and grab a few cocktails and weather permitting them on there nice patio outside. Both my Bacon Blue Burger and Burger Melt were very very good! The Sweat Potato fries are a must have. There fried pickles and onion rings were up to par as well! Can't wait to go back. Next time The Lulu Burger, (A mix of lamb and beef seasoned with garlic, cilantro, cumin, topped with Feta cheese & garlic yogurt sauce) A great place!

Fantastic experience. The sweet potato fries are among the best I've ever had, the shrimp baguette was absolutely amazing, and while I couldn't eat an entire bread pudding, what I managed to stuff down was also incredible. The wine list is good, and by the glass, and their caparosca and peach drink (don't remember the name) are both fantastic. Combined with reasonable prices, I can't recommend this place highly enough. Going back tonight for the duck proscuitto salad, if that says anything.

Many times I’ve walked directly passed the Mad Duck. Call me judgmental, but the smoker crowd on the patio was keeping me away, especially after having our first child. I figured it wasn’t really a place to take Toddler Bites but recently I just decided to forget all that. I’ll be the first to admit that I was wrong. Once you get passed the hipsters smoking tobacco pipes on the patio, as if they’re paying homage to my Italian grandfather, the interior offers a handful of booths and high chairs. I guess shame on me.
Mad. When one looks at the dictionary definitions of "Mad", the words Harebrained, Uncontrollably Foolish, Mentally Disturbed are all possibilities. I must have been a little mad that day to have suggested dining at The Mad Duck. So let's start the review off with some basics about The Mad Duck: Plastic utensils, plastic trays ( I'm sure they're high quality plastic ), no coasters for drinks, no greeting either upon arrival or departure ( problematic when there is no host station at the front door, only awkward empty space and a distracted bartender who eventually greeted us when we sat down at an available table ), no explanation or menu indicators that sides do not accompany the main dishes ( such as fries or onion rings ), no additional offer of condiments such as ketchup, mustard, or mayo with our onion rings ( just in case I may not care for the onion ring sauce provided, I shouldn't have to ask ), and no break in between our appetizer and main course arrival.
