Review El Rinconcito Chapin - Cleveland

Nice little 'hole in the wall' restaurant. It was our first time trying Guatemalan food, it's a bit like Mexican but different too. We had the sampler platter which was good, the guacamole was fresh but not too flavourful. My wife had the Paella which was decent. The pork tacos were great. Overall a nice place to definitely visit once and try!

Didn’t expect much when we drove up- honestly thought it was closed til I saw the open sign lit up. Once we got inside, it was clean- and smelled clean, someone just Fabuloso’d the place, but wasn’t overwhelming. Started with the sampler to start. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out IMO either. It was a little small for the price, but you got to try a variety of things which was nice. My dad ordered the enchiladas- not at all what we expected being more familiar with Mexican style rolled tortillas. These were fried open faced tortillas topping with carnitas and a really good Guatemalan slaw. It didn’t have as much meat as we would have liked, but the slaw was generous and delicious- it had pickled cabbage, beets, carrots, and onions. Wasn’t expecting beets, but added a nice touch. I got the seared flank steak. It was nicely cooked and the guac and green onions were nice. The rice and beans were bland, but ordered some extra salsa and made them pretty good. Also added on a chorizo taco, and was a solid taco with a really good salsa verde on double tortillas- street style of course. My girlfriend ordered the ejotes dish (don’t remember the full name)- it was battered and fried green beans that she really enjoyed and said they were traditional (having spent months in Guatemala). She said the same thing about the rice and beans as I did, but did the same with some salsa. The cubano was the stand out of the meal- it was perfect. Pork was tender, ham was the right amount and tasty, with a good Swiss cheese and mustard and pickle. The bread was very far from traditional, and I’ve eaten a ton of Cubans over the years having spent many years in Florida, but the bread was perfect for the sandwich all the same. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but doesn’t need to be, and the parking lot could use a little love, but nothing that would keep me from coming back here. Not a perfect experience, but still 5 stars as I have to root for the small businesses that try so hard and do so many things right- give it a try and thank me later.

Still in my Top 3 Taco Tuesday spots!! The cabbage Slaw is everything!! Tacos are always a hit but definitely try their daily specials. Friendly staff that is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Pupusas are a must try! Dine in or carry out. A lot of social media says they are closed Tuesday but it's actually just closed Mondays.

Guatemalan food that is extremely approachable, delicious, and affordable, this “hidden gem” is one of those restaurants I tell everyone about. Food is so fresh, perfectly prepared, and the owner and staff are always friendly and efficient. The burritos, pupusas, tacos, fluffy yellow rice, and tender chicken, fish and steak dishes are all great. Basic but spacious dining room always has room, so give this great restaurant a try.

I sampled parrillada guatemalteca, beef empanadas, ceviche, and carnitas tacos over a few visits. Go get some! Their salsas and ingredients are top notch. Service is bilingual and friendly. The Guatemalan flavors and spices are different than the “Tex-Mex” typically found in the US.

great food! it does take a little bit for your food to be ready. so if getting food to go, may be best to place your order ahead of time. food is delicious and flavorful. it is great to have so many culturally diverse eateries in the neighborhood! if you are unsure what to try, the staff has great recommendations!

This has quickly become part of my regular rotation. Prices are fantastic and the food is incredible. Huge fan of the chicken, chorizo, or shrimp burritos. I didn't love the steak one as the steak was so finely minced it was almost like ground beef. (Add the guac, it completes it) The platanos fritos are some of the best around. I've only been disappointed by them once when the platanos were not ripe enough. The salsa verde is deliciously tart and spicy. I wish it was sold in bulk, I'd always have some in my fridge. The Garnachas were excellent. Cooked to perfection and all of the ingredients were fresh. I didn't try the enrolladas myself but my wife said the sauce they were in was perfect and she'd order it again.

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant, the food is amazing, the service is fast and the people are super helpful. Definitely check it out and get the Yuka fries with the chipotle aioli

This little Hidden gem is an amazing place to get some authentic Guatemalan food. I had the sampler appetizer and two tacos. They don't serve alcoholic beverages but they do have some decent horchata.

Wasn't sure about this place upon first impression but once inside we were very satisfied. Great service. Very interesting menu. Everything we had was delicious. Similar to Mexican with a unique flair.

Second trip to this place. This is really good food and really friendly, helpful people. This isn't Mexican food although the have a few Mexican dishes. Lots of different dishes with unique flavors and tastes. It's worth checking out if you've never been. It's not the most tasteful or elegant place, but if you can get past that, you'll enjoy a great meal. Good portions and reasonable prices.

We stopped here after going to the zoo and were kinda skeptical since it’s tucked away and has a drive thru. It was amazing. Everything we ate was delicious and we tried quite a variety.

My first try of this place and the food was phenomenal! Well prepared fresh and delicious! You have certainly earned a new regular customer and thanks for the polite service! Amazing food and friendly service! I recommend the Chapin Sampler if it's your first time so you can try a little of everything.

My family and I live the food here. The pupusas are awesome. Sometimes a Capin Sampler is just what you need it has a little bit of everything if you are not sure where to start. This is where we go if we want a taste of Home and don't want to cook it they are always there with good food. The service is also great they are very kind and helpful. Sometimes we pretty Big orders and they make sure we have plenty of sauce or slaw or whatever it maybe. Love it.

They have the best guacamole and the torta Guatemalteca, but don’t like de horchata it’s to much rice on the bottom.

Delicious empanadas-light and airy outside with a flavorful stuffing inside. Pupusa was well done-beans had flavor and cheese was evenly distributed. Curtido was the best I've had. Vegan pepian was enjoyed immensely by the boyfriend. The sauce that was in the pepian was amazingly rich. We will definitely be back!

The food was delicious, place very clean. The folks working there very kind and courteous. Will be going again for sure! Highly recommend it...YUM!

Excellent food and service. The two meals we had were the Chapin Sampler and the Choripan sandwich. Both very good. Taste amazing and nice presentation. The service was great and waiter was friendly and attentive to everyone there. We will be back

First visit, but certainly will not be my last! Stopped in today for a late lunch with my brother. He had the Enchiladas (not what you would expect) and I had the pork chop with rice and beans and plantains. We also shared a pork bean and cheese pupusa. Everything was great and my brother had to take some home the portion was so generous. We also took two pieces of Tres Leches Cake home. Wonderful!

Very good food. The waitress was very helpful in helping us choose what food to choose. Very patient in explaining what was in the food. I would give it more than five stars if I could. Our daughter came from Guatemala when she was 20 months old. The plantains were a good food memory for her!

We thoroughly enjoyed Ava's birthday lunch yesterday. The food was outstanding, as was the service :-) Ava said it was better than the food we had in Guatemala! We will definitely be back.

Husband had chorizo tacos and a steak burrito and loved it. Burrito was huge! Wonderful new addition to Old Brooklyn. Will definitely go back.

Authentically delicious! Absolute gem for Northeast Ohio & close to Parma area. From the savory dough on the quesadillas, to the homemade pickled beet slaw on the garnachos, to the veggie salad on the flavorful pollo adobado, everything was scrumptiously tasty with the homemade touch.

Friendly service, Best Burrito in town. Great prices for quality and quantity of food.
