Review Dagwood's Sandwich Shop - Cleveland

Christopher Miles
Been eating here for years. I love their burgers and the Dagwood is a colossal and delicious sandwich. One of the best sandwich shops i have ever been to.

On several recommendations I finally got a chance to pick up the "Hardhat", Dagwood's version of the Roman Burger. It was awesome!! Now I gotta try their other sandwiches!!Hardware! Thank you Dagwoods!

Great Sandwiches and sides! This is the Angus Steak and cheese sub and Fried Baloney. Lot of Steak and Baloney on the sandwiches. Yum!

The owners were very happy and friendly!! The lady was very talkative and kind and greeted me with a smile. Not sure why they get bad reviews on customer service because I felt treated like a king there! The sandwiches for the price were unbelievable ! They were sooo big and flavorful! I am definitely coming back again and again and again with my wife and our future kids and then their kids too we will probably get stock in this company too it’s amazing!!

I rarely write reviews yet detailed ones so i felt the need to share here. Two things i saw on other reviews that are ridiculous 1. Sloppy sandwiches... that is because the owners give you a lot of food abd bang for your buck. If you want a neat sandwich go to subway and get a small portioned out and overpriced sandwich 2. I have came here since 2009. Not once have the owners been rude. They are very nice people and ive talked to them quite a bit. I think people may get this impression for the following reason. Customer service is huge in the food and service industry. However, there is a difference between a small sandwich shop (where the goal is get you in and out quick) and a sit down restaurant where you have a server. I dont know if some of you expect red carper treatment, but the owners are anything but rude. They are aiming to give quick service so u come back. Some days, yes u can tell they are stressed. as someone that has done what they have, you have days where u have 30 call in orders and a store of 5 to 6 people and that can effect you. Any signs of stress shows they care and just dont have the attitude we see busy, you get your order when u get it. Just wanted to clear this up with my experiences, because as a place i have went to for years the owners are great and anything but rude

I've been eating lunches here for years and I've never had a bad experience. You can't go wrong with the "hard hat" sandwich. The only reason it is getting 4 stars and not 5, is because of the hours. There were many times I've been craving their food only to find out they closed early or are not open that day. Keep up the hard work Dagwood's Thank you, Joseph P

Decided to walk out and grab something to eat. Dagwoods sits right on the end of my street. First impressions was homey. It feels like waking into my grandmother's house with her fresh cooking on the way. The couple working here seems nice. But kind of look stressed out...can't blame them honestly. Their food is great though and I have to say having a burger subway sandwich is pretty good! The fries were my favorite. And they have my favorite black pepper so I'm satisfied. The cleanliness of the place could use a little work but as I said it felt like home so I don't have too much of an issue but it did warrant a star removal.

Huge sandwiches at a cheap price. Just order the Dogwood. Everything else is great, but this sandwich is 'da bomb' as the youngsters say. Can get busy over lunch, so get there early! Worth the wait. Owner (I assume) can be charmingly grumpy at times.

Absolutely love this place. Food is good, portions are worth what you pay for, and the owners tend to keep to themselves. But from what conversations I've had with them, they seem like great people!

The Dagwood is the best sandwich ever. Make sure you grab their fresh cut fries too. Owners aren't overly friendly but food is top notch

What the heck are their hours?. I stopped for lunch one Sat and enjoyed the food. Have been trying to stop on a Friday evening several times and the place is closed. Hours online say 10-730 and I have been there as early as 515 to find doors locked and lights off. You eant business you should be open

Dagwoods.... Great food. and just had to comment on those who complained about the service. The owner and his wife run the place by themselves and have never been rude to my husband or I. Are they your bubbly applebees waitress? No. But they serve quality food, always fresh and always prompt, professional even though not overly friendly. One of the beauties of owning your own business is not having to live up to the expectation of wearing a fake smile and kissing butts of ungreatful customers. get a dagwood.

Awesome sandwiches!

This place is fabulous, a friend told me about this place a year and a half ago and i luv it. the only problem i have is they close early and not open on sundays. also they need more dagwoods around, like closer to me, then i would go there everyday.

Best Gyro in town. I have had every hyped Gyro in the area including at the over hyped West Side Market Gyro stand and Dagwood's is the best. For only $6 you get a very large Gyro that is well worth the money. The Hardhat which is a better version of the roman burger from Mr Hero is also amazing. I was nervous that the service would be bad from reading other reviews, but was pleasantly surprised to find out first hand that the owner is very nice and talkative once your order is in. This is a small sandwich shop with only 2 people working normally, I am guessing the people whom complained about the owner are the same people that are holding up a line of hungry customers waiting for their mouth watering sandwiches. The only complaint I have with this place is that they close too early.

Best sandwich shop. Ok so me and my wife when we get paid we get to eat out 2 times one for lunch and one for dinner. and our lunch is always dagwoods. the owner can come off a little brash but he is honestly a great man. and his wife is such a sweetheart. they are a great parma tradition and i wish they would put another store up in medina once again

Food is delightfully palatable! I had the hard hat and my mouth was wishing for more. The owner(s) might want to adress the cleanliness of the establishment though. Despite the shady state of the building, the state of the food was great. Coming again.

Yes they are. So i have been to dagwoods a few times..i must agree with most reviews on here the people(workers) are very rude and does act as if they dont want you in there if you must ask them a question about a menu item...everything i have had there from the menu the few times i did go there was amazing great food...i also found the place to be dirty and like a few on here the help was reading a paper instead of wiping off a table or sweeping the floor when i walked in...so with this being said i find myself graving their food but just cant subject myself to the disrespect and the rudness that comes from the hired help or owners themselves..so if the owner or owners see this i just want to say i respected you by taking my hard earn money into your shop to buy me lunch and keep you in business and to keep what employees you have employed.. i expect to be respected because if im not then i take my money somewhere else no matter how good the food...as i have done and this is why you and your employees have not seen me again.. i choose to go somewhere else...food wise i give this place 4 1/2 stars---the rest of everything else i give 1/2 a star it was that horrible...

Really?. Okay I've gone to Dagwoods a few times, giving these people chances to redeem themselves. As another reviewer said they probably the rudest people I ever encountered and the one guy is a complete jerk who I think is the owner. The only thing I could say is good there is the chicken salad. They are over priced and don't give you that quality product for your money. They made me feel like such an inconvenience and when asking about their items they scoffed and huffed and puffed like they couldn't believe that they had to answer a question. The place does look dirty and they aren't very friendly. I wonder about their hours because they seem to come and go as they please. Maybe if they were a little nicer and gave a quality product they would be a little busier. I would definitely pass up and go to Subway or Mr. Hero's, at least my food would be filling, tastier and probably fresher. They need major attitude adjustments and I didn't get the scoff just once but repeatedly, even my friends have experienced this and have not gone back. I guess I went to them a few times since they are literally a few blocks away. They should be ashamed of themselves how they present themselves. If you aren't happy with what you are doing then close shop!

Gourmet Sandwiches. I have tried cheap to expensive sandwiches all over the world. From Paris to China to Philly cheesestakes to delis in NYC. I have to say I was not expecting much returning to my home town of Parma, but Dagwood's is fantastic and one of the best I have ever had. They are gourmet level and high quality subs, pastramis and sandwiches. The Black Angus sub was better than an actually cheesestake from Philly, and the sauteed onione and cheese hit the tongue in between the sliced meat with perfect wase and cloyingness. it was not overly cheesey or greasy. The classic Dagood sandwich was a cold sandiwch filled with a variety of meats, cheeses and coleslaw and was perfect. I like sandwiches but most are nothing special unless doused with mayo or such, but the Dagwood's special cole slaw and sauce made you want to keep eating and eating. The Pastrami was also great and just the right amount of hot and spicy. It is rare to find a good restaurant in any suburb let alone one like Parma, but Dagwood's is an untapped mecca for world credible sandwiches and subs that hold their own if not surpass many of the ones I have had abroad. This has to be the sandwich go to place! You have to try it!

I went by on Saturday around 11:30. The parking lot is nearly gravel by now, you have to guess at the lines. The inside was ok, though a bit dirty under the tables. I think I may have been their first customer of the day, as they were reading the paper and cooking up bacon. They kind of acted like I was bothering them, but it could've just been me. I ordered the dagwood, fries and a drink. The fries were great. Hot and crispy, fresh cut. The sandwich was amazing. Ham, turkey, salami, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and coleslaw on a double decker with sesame seeded white bread. I would totally eat here again, though I might be tempted to get it to go...

You Decide for Yourself?????. Ok I have been in there a couple times and the manager is not such a friendly guy. I won't be back again, not bad food. The Hard hat is great! The cleanliness of the place is less to be desired and the parking lot ....almost got a flat on the way out. I guess the old arthur treachers lot still exists. Well, get your food to go. Great place to park if your goin to the bar across the street even during normal business hours. Plenty of parking in this lot.
