I’m one of those people who care most about the food, not the “ambiance”. The windowless place looks closed, and you might have a few apprehensive thoughts of what your walking into as you finally find the entrance. But do not fear, because inside you will be pleased with the freshly prepared food. Papusas, rice, chicken and skirt steak are all the menu items to try. (See pics) Full bar, food and drinks are wallet pleasing. It could earn that extra star if they could push consistency to 100% and by simply serving our tequila in a glass instead of a disposable plastic cup. (Another visit on 11-25-23, we did get our tequila in a glass)

This place (and the family/owners) are awesome. Fresh, delicious, substantial meals. I always want to try everything on the menu, but the pupusas are so good that I can never pass on them. So many choices and we've never had a bad experience. It's more than generous for the price you pay, too.

Wow! Lived in AZ for 18 years. 3 hours from Mexican border. None of that food taste as good as this. This was unbelievably fantastic!

Looks decieve! Pupuseria is very good. I had the steak with onions (loved the tomato sauce!) And shared two pupusas (chicken and pork) with my fiance. Had the Jamaica hibiscus tea to drink, very light and flavorful. Would come here again!

I've been going here for about a year and a half now and just haven't gotten around to posting a review. This Salvadoran restaurant definitely gives the home cooked style vibes that makes you want to keep coming back for more. I am very used to home cooked Mexican food and this is very similar. They don't use a lot of chile so you don't have to worry about the food being spicy. I would definitely recommend 2 or 3 pupusas per person (the revueltas are my favorite) and also a side of the plantains with crema. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and always willing to recommend something new to try.

Great Hispanic restaurant around Cleveland. Placed an order through phone and picked it up 30min later, placed wasn’t so busy when I went to pick up the food. Ordered two chicharrón (pork) and chicken with onion. The pupusas were good and tasty, however the chicken was a little salty. Overall, it was a great restaurant for pupusas and will definitely come back for more pupusa.

My son and I went there a couple of weeks ago and decided to have an immersive Pupuseria experience, ordering to each of six different of those great little dough creations, plus the tastiest plate of beans I think I’ve ever put a fork into.
Service was attentive, we waited a little bit of time for food because we ordered so much and wild decor is certainly not the highlight of the visit, my taste buds don’t care. Please visit this place and support a great local Salvadoran restaurant, your taste buds will thank me.

So I travel everywhere, trying new foods from breakfast, appetizers, to Main courses. So, it was a holiday weekend (mothers day) and while most small businesses were closed Pupiseria Katarina was not! I found this place with a simple Google search and to my surprise, they were ready to serve. I made my order over the phone and when I arrived it was ready to go without delay. The establishment was clean and service was kind both over the phone and in person. Food was fresh! Seasoned nicely (not overly salted or spicy) I recommend the jalapeño pupusas it has the right amount of spicy that cuts through the fattyness of the delicious cheese. The steak is tender and the portion sizes directly match the prices. The restaurant seems to have a robust nightlife as they have a huge music set up and bar. Altogether, I totally recommend you eat at Pupusas Katarina!

If you have never had Salvadorean food, it''s time to try something new! The pupusas here are excellent and the people were very friendly. They do speak English if you are concerned about such things.

I've never had Salvadoran food. It was truly unique and delicious to my palate. I had pupusas. A pupusa is basically a stuffed tortilla. Here you can order corn meal or wheat flour pupusas. They are about 6 inches across, so I ordered three of them. I should have only ordered two! They were very filling. I had the spinach, the mixed, and the loroco (a Salvadoran flower). The loroco pupusa had the nicest flavor of the three. I highly recommend it.

Simple Salvadoran Cuisine! Family owned and casual, Renee and Daisy serve very good food for a reasonable price. The papusas are hand made and Gluten Free friendly! Definitely a must for diners that seek extraordinary flavors, a relaxed atmosphere, and reasonable prices!

After reading about Pupuseria Katarina in Scene , I was dying to try it...The small place was clean and inviting inside, with music playing, flowers on the table, and a warm greeting when we entered. We were left to browse the menu, and plenty of it sounded tempting. But, we were there to try the griddle-fried pupusa . They are inch-thick corn pancakes stuffed with various fillings and fried on a griddle. They are each just $2. We were stuffed after splitting six of them, and walked away with a bill + tip for under $20. Dining Deals Alert!
