Made a pit stop in Cleveland during a recent road trip and heard about this spot in our hunt for a good burger!
Due to its location, while you may think this location is small, as soon as you step inside it gets bigger and bigger and bigger!
The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the decor phenomenal, the winding staircase truly is a pretty sight to behold.
As for good and service, both were very good! I got the Cucumber Mint Lemonade which was good, strong on the cucumber flavor and not too much on the lemonade which for me was great! Our table ordered the Avon Burger (which was what was recommended to us), the Beechwood Burger, and the Heck’s House Salad!
Both burgers were delicious, medium rare is always the way to go in my book! With the Beechwood Burger, it’s A LOT of meat, but very very good.
Overall a great stop and lovely meal!

Such a quaint little spot! We absolutely loved the spiral staircase in the center of the dining room, and the high ceilings make the smaller space look much larger. Food was great, but the Brussel sprouts were definitely the star of this trip. Truffle fries could use a little more truffle flavor, but otherwise great. The sauce they used for the calamari was sooooo good. Great kids menu too. Highly recommend!

Never a bad experience. It was a tad chilly in here today but the staff made every effort to make us comfortable. Food was delicious and came out fast, even with it being busy! The most moist falafel (burger) I have ever had!

Heck’s was a delightful brunch for our group of 8. Our server was the sweetest, and while very busy, she took great care of our group. They have indoor and outdoor seating, we were inside in the back room near the bar. It was a little loud in there as it was full of happy customers. All of the food we had was delicious. Huge omelettes and seriously good coffee.

I asked the waiter for the recommendation. And she recommended Avocado toast and bread pudding! And it was FANTASTIC;) and my friend had a burger which was also good
Don’t really recommend the carrot cake, the carrot piece was too chunky and hard;(

Excellent food and Great service. Cheney was very attentive and friendly. Food was spot on and priced reasonably. Carrot cake, made in house, was the best I have had!

Enjoyed a lunch on the patio here on a sunny day. We didn’t have huge appetites and stopped on a whim. So, we shared the falafel sandwich, the peach caprese, and a half salad, alongside a carrot cake.
This food was phenomenal - so fresh, great seasoning, and lovely taste. I was in the area for a few days and could have eaten here daily.
Additionally, we noticed extreme kindness from the servers- there was a man and a cat walking down the street. I’m not sure if he was a paying customer, but he didn’t look like it. They offered him some drink and food, too. My mother-in-law cried at their kindness and said this visit- the food, the people, the atmosphere- was the highlight of her week.
In short, I’d come back and try anything on the menu again and just enjoy sitting on the patio with friends or family. Heck’s is a stand-up place.

I had the paperdalle with braised short rib. Overall delicious but the pasta was far undercooked and there were bits of raw carrot in the dish. Overall, the dish seemed rushed—something another reviewer noted.
I will give them props for making their own pasta though!

Great food! Had the baklava French toast and it was a fantastic treat. Staff is very friendly.

very good short rib burger perfectly cooked and seasoned. Their whiskey caramelized onions was a great addition on the burger that I added. I think the real woman is the choices of sauces they have from truffle to spicy aioli everything was fresh and on point. I do wish the bun was larger for the burger and maybe a brioche bun or something a bit better. Their French fries were good but a bit greasy and salty for my taste. All around I recommend this place and would come back here again and again.

Amazing warm atmosphere, exceptional flavors for simple dishes with emphasis on quality, and service is fast and great. Prices are very good, parking is on the street. A true hidden gem.

Hidden away in Ohio City, Hecks Cafe offers a warm woodsy atmosphere, with great chill atmosphere in a semi formal setting. Service is amazing, with staff that makes great recommendations. Food was made and arrived pretty quickly. Highly recommend their cocktails, especially the Black Cherry Mojito.
As for the food, their wide selection of house burgers are truly delicious. The flavors are very fresh, and the use of great quality ingredients is evident in all their dishes. The Calamari app is also very neutral, and a great starter for a lunch or dinner.
The parking is a bit iffy, but once you find a spot and willing to walk a tiny bit then it will ok. A great hidden cafe for a casual, semi casual or even bit more formal brunch meeting, be it dining for two, or group of five.
Highly recommend.

We went there on Sunday 11/05/23. It was a great experience! Our server, Jenny had a smile on her face the whole time she took care of 10 of our family for a birthday. She was very upbeat and positive. The quality of the food was excellent and very quick service. It had been many years since I was last there. The prices were very reasonable which is different than most restaurants today. Jenny made the experience so enjoyable and I walked away feeling that she represents the restaurant in a great light. I would overly recommend Hecks to everyone. I have been bragging to all my friends what an enjoyable time and meal that we all had. Great restaurant and great server, Jenny!

The atmosphere was great on the patio. We all liked our food of soup, burgers and buffalo cauliflower. More then anything our server Cheyney was fantastic. I really appreciate honest opinions when asking about a dish. You can tell she knew what she was talking about. It's refreshing to have knowledgable and efficient service.
When I was there a few month earlier we sat at the bar and that particular server was no where near as good about answering questions about the food.

We sat at the bar for brunch. Food came out quickly and the bartender was nice. The french onion soup was pretty good, and not too expensive. The baklava french toast was very tasty. I was especially impressed with the hamburger I ordered, which came with bacon, mushrooms, and swiss cheese. It was very well constructed, tasty, and accompanied by a mountain of french fries. Overall, a very satisfying lunch that didn't take too much time.

We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It was very quaint and we loved the vibe. The food came quickly, and the appetizers were very tasty. The entrees were good, but nothing to write home about. Our server was alright, but warm and welcoming were not necessarily adjectives that came to mind when describing her.

The 3 of us all had burgers and they eere all excellent! French onion soup and lemon chicken rice soup were both very good too. Male server was great st his job! It was a very nice fining experience!

Excellent food, excellent service! Drinks are strong! Super cheesy French onion soup and the Brussel sprouts were delicious! Also tried the Brieberry burger with fresh cut fries! It is a beautiful building. Very unique atmosphere.
A few recommendations prior to visit: I would encourage reservations. I visited on a Saturday for lunch with a friend (we did not have reservations) and it was very crowded, long line for a wait. The staff was very efficient and still seated us within 20 minutes. **Be prepared to spend time searching for parking. We had to park several blocks away (it was fine, we definitely needed steps after the meal!!). It is tough to find parking, especially when streets and public parking lots are not adequately plowed in the winter.
