Frio Gelato

I spent 6 months in Florence, Italy a few years ago, during which time I became a gelato connoisseur – to the point that I talked the owner of my favorite place into showing me how it was made (amazing). That said, I haven't tried good gelato in the states since my return...until now. This place is the real deal. Best gelato in the city hands down. Set your taste buds Frí and visit Frío ASAP!

I get that gelato is a healthier option to ice cream. It's difficult however to justify paying $4.50 + tax for such a small cup. That amount of money would get me more at dairy cream a little ways down. Better yet go Jewels and have a whole box of sugar free popsicles ( 15 calories) and have plenty to share. As for taste, I've enjoyed better from the people selling homemade coconut ice cream. You can try it for the novelty. Just expect to wonder why you paid so much for it.

Overall: Friendly, fast, and generous service will surely lead to repeated visits to FRIO. The good: The service here is friendly and generous. Not only did the server provide 'scoops' bigger than they likely should have been, but she also gave us an extra 'punch' on our card because the other couple didn't take a card. And, she had a great sense of humor and played great music. The atmosphere is clean as well. The not-so-good: They are true to their word and nut free, but that leaves out some of the more tried-and-true flavors like pistachio or peanut flavored choices. A little too expensive and a smaller menu, even aside from the 'nut-free' comment. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 8/10
