Really enjoyed this place! Definitely a place we will be back! I have had Ethiopian food before but a friend hadn’t and he really enjoyed it!
You aren’t served flatware (not sure if you can ask for a set) and there is a sink to wash your hands to make sure all hands are clean.

It's a great place if your looking for an intimate setting with you and your date or even with a group of friends to just catch up on daily life! The menus had a variety of options, giving you snippets of Ethiopian culture! The food is mouth watering that even when you're full you still want to finish the plate! Oh, and it's BYOB! Last but not least, the servers were so sweet & have is nothing but a smile! Would highly recommend if you're looking for something authentic and intimate!

Delicious food and a great experience! The owner was very accommodating when we came in 30minutes before closing time, and was very friendly about explaining the menu to us. It’s BYOB so grab a bottle from a store around the corner. Excellent experience!

Great place with very relaxing vibe, friendly people, and great food! Perfect for dates and slow dinners, never felt rushed.

Good ethiopian food. The coffee is nice. Service is painfully slow. They are not rude or anything. But everything just takes twice the time, makes for an interesting place to go in a group or date. If in a hurry I'd avoid it.

Great Ethiopian Food in Chicago. The staff is very friendly. This place is wonderful for vegetarians. Food is served communally. The meat dishes are served separate from vegetables/legumes. They have some dishes that are less commonly found in other Ethiopian restaurants. Everything we have had has been very tasty. Definitely put in your list of places to eat.

My favorite Ethiopian restaurant and it's BYOB. Start with the sambusas and the lalibela salad, which is very simple yet and delicious with their homemade dressing. Any veggie dish is amazing but the stand outs are the spinach, mushrooms and curried potato and carrot. We like the beef or chicken tibs for meat options. Very friendly staff, the only thing is that the experience is slow but that is with almost any Ethiopian restaurant and not a big deal if your with good company. Highly recommended.

We decided to try Lalibela after reading great Yelp reviews. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday evening and the restaurant was empty. A woman came out from the back and reassured us they were open for business. It took 5 minutes to get a menu and additional time for water. When she asked if we were ready to order we said yes but she disappeared for a few minutes before someone else came to take our order.
The food was OK but nothing spectacular. The injera was cold as were many of the dishes we ordered. No one ever came back to ask if everything was OK or to refill our water which was very aggravating given we were the only two in the entire restaurant.
It's clear that Lalibela did not value us as customers or choose to make an effort to make us feel welcome. We highly recommend trying many other Andersonville restaurants and to take your business somewhere you'll be welcomed.
