Hellas Gyros

As we were eating our Gyros there was no conversation. It has been years since we were able to have Hella's Gyros. So when we saw they had a location where we could order their food we called for pick up and traveled across town hoping it tasted the same. YES, IT WAS STILL AMAZING! Holy Tzatziki sauce Batman! Hand down the best Gyro in the city! Just the way I remembered and I look forward to returning! To the owner...your customer service deserves 5 stars alone. Thank you for taking great care of your customers and remembering us from Bryn Mawr!

Service can be kind of iffy but the food is pretty good! I had my first gyro ever here and it got me hooked, and everything else I've had from here has been pretty good. They get major points from me for having mild sauce, something I don't see very often on the North Side. They could do much better on late night service, some of the workers are frequently drunk while working and can be obnoxious, and the loud metal music doesn't help their cause much.

On Tuesday May 31st at 2 o'clock p.m. I placed an order online and received an email immediately informing me that my order would be delivered within 35 to 60 minutes. After waiting an hour and twenty minutes I called the establishment ask if my order had gone out already and the employee I spoke to told me the driver had left twenty minutes ago and should be arriving very soon. After waiting two hours my food had finally been delivered but was very cold. I had ordered a gyro wrap, fried mushrooms, and a double cheeseburger. The burger was cold and the condiments had already absorbed into the bun I couldn't even eat the buns. The mushrooms were also soggy and I ended up throwing them away. When I called and asked to speak to a manager the employee asked me what it was about I had explained that I had waited 2 hours that my food was very cold and the manager that I spoke to at 4 o'clock told me that he did not see what the problem was. After I told him that I was very disappointed in their customer service and customer satisfaction he told me he did not know what I wanted him to do about it. When I wanted to speak to a general or store manager he told me I could call back after 9 p.m. and ask for Luis. I called back at 10:30 p.m. and the employee told me that Luis was not available and I asked him if he could take my name and my phone number and have him call me back. He told me Luis would call me back by midnight and I told him that that was fine. I never received a call back and am very outraged at how I was treated as a customer and will not be ordering from this restaurant again. I will also be filing as many online and app related ratings as I possibly can to avoid other customers being treated this way and wasting their money.

The food at this location is good, but the place is very old and a little dirty. The service isn't the best either. I stood at the register with two guys walking behind the counter for about 7 minutes before one of them look interested in taking my order. I then stood there for about 5 more minutes before they told me to sit down. Apparently I was supposed to know to wait at a table for my food to be brought to me before even paying. While the Gyro Sandwich was good and the price was good, the whole experience just makes you not wanna come back. If your into old decor and local places, I say give it a shot. If your not, I say keep walking and find a more polished place.

I've always enjoyed the food but tonight I witnessed the cashier who took my money go in the fridge with bare hands out my mozzarella sticks in and put old tries to reheat in grease as he touch those with his fingers as well. If that wasn't bad enough he wiped his fingers off on his shirt!! Yes I said something and yes I got a new order but after this I now have a concern about their wash hands policy. Really disappointed

I have determined Hellas Gyros deserves a 2.25/5 rating. The food was delicious and promptly served to us. However, the employees lacked professionalism, and adequate training on how to greet and treat costumers. If I choose to eat at Hellas Gyros in the future, I would order take – out, to ensure I have a pleasant dinner without witnessing employees arguing, yelling and cursing at one another. Furthermore, I will check the bill before paying to ensure it is accurate.
