Iron Horse Ale House

This restaurant is our go to place for very good food, excellent service and positive vibe. It is very family friendly. Even my finicky 4 year old likes the kids menu items. They have a great selection of adult beverages too! She loves to sit at the counter near the open pizza oven to play with real pizza dough while watching our pizza being made and baked. If you haven't checked this place out on the far northwest side of Chicago it's a must!

The place is really clean and the staff is friendly. The music will have you asking if it's a pandora station or someones well curated spotify playlist. It is in such a nice location in Norwood park. The drinks are good and the food is pretty good, but it can get old if you're a local who tries to keep coming back. There isn't one thing you could say exceptionally well, but everything is just okay. Seeing the bill after a night out with the family can leave something more to be desired. With that being said, it is a very family friendly place. If your child goes up to the pizza counter they can get some dough to play with it. Having a locally owned business is in a reason in itself to go and support.

Cool settings inside. Pretty big place with outside seating. My second experience here. Food was good. We got a French dip and a Mac N cheese Burger. Good portion sizes Last time we ordered goat cheese appetizer. It was a little misleading. We received a small dollop of goat cheese swimming around in Marinara when we expected a more substantial amount of goat cheese. Other than that... solid joint

One year after my first post, I still highly recommend this gem of the Norwood Park neighborhood. The Iron Horse Ale House has an amazing selection of locally made and nationally made microbrews, as well as nationally recognizable beers and spirits. On past visits we ordered the margarita pizza with prosciutto, their soup of the day, and a side salad. The pizza from the Wood-Fired oven was fantastic, crispy and light. For this visit we ordered their chicken wings as well as crab cakes, and a bottle of wine. The chicken wings were excellent and the crab cakes were flavorful and perfectly prepared. I absolutely give 5 stars to the Iron Horse Ale House!

Great neighborhood restaurant. Staff is always attentive and courteous. Have eaten there numerous times and have never been disappointed. Extensive liquor selection to choose from. The pizza is outstanding. Great select of comfort food. They also have a patio area seating during the summer. They tic all the boxes!!
