The Best, fresh seafood in Chicago! Dirk is a great guy. I bought crab meat for my mom's 89th birthday and forgot a pound at the shop. Dirk called me and stayed after the store closed to let me return and buy it for our lunch on Sunday. Where can you find this kindness in our city today? Everyone at the party was blown away at how fresh the crab was. I can't recommend them enough from the crab to the smoked white fish spread (top seller), everything was superb. Oh and they have The Best brownies in the city.

Just went here for the first time, and so impressed. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, the place was clean, the market area had a ton of goodies, the fridge/freezer section was stocked AND they gave me a sample of soup while I shopped. Left with a good piece of snapper, lox and a sauce to top it off. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

I love love love Dirk’s - we’ve been coming here for years - and now it’s bigger and better. I’ve also picked up recipes from them over the years (I make their cioppino all the time). Yes it costs more, but over the years I have bought fish from places like Mariano’s and multiple times, the product is just not good. Last night we made a baked see bass and wow - one of the best fish meals I’ve ever made at home.

Although we were just a couple of tourists passing by, Dirk was kind enough to invite us to his customer appreciation party and fed us some really good food. No wonder why he can stay in business for 20 years! A truly kind man in 2023.

I wanted to try my hand at making gravlax. The gentleman at the counter told me what salmon they use for their gravlax and set me up with two beautiful, fresh pieces of salmon. The gravlax turned out spectacular! Thank you!

I love Dirk’s. I won’t buy my fish anywhere else, it’s just so good here. I’ve had the tuna and salmon both raw and cooked, as well as some of the crab/crabcakes/ other selections they have in the fridges in the back. One stop shop for everything fish/sushi related, also great for homemade spring rolls (pictured!)

I can’t say enough great things about this fish store, especially about Dirk himself. He has a great selection and quality of seafood, is very knowledgeable about fish, and is just an all around great guy. Go on Saturday’s too as he’s often cooking out front of his shopfront his latest creations or products.
Also - if you make sushi or poke at home, this is where you want to buy your raw fish especially. Always high quality worth every penny.

Amazing lunch menu. Got the crab cake burger as well the salmon burger and they are both delicious. We also like the flan! Would definitely come back and try new stuff. Didn’t get the fish here as the price tag is high for me.

I went to Dirks to buy some Caviar for my birthday celebration. They had exactly what I wanted and Bellini also.
On the way out I saw these incredible prawns in the case, 4-6 prawns /pound so I had to get 6 of them.
I cooked and Iced the prawns and packed them with the caviar on ice for our private room on the train to Los Angeles. Everything was incredible. I highly recommend Dirks.

Been coming here for years, their fish is always fresh and guidance is on-point. They have a wide selection. Their cocktail sauce and shrimp is to die for. Some other favorites are their halibut, oysters, and mussels, but you are safe no matter what you get here. Dirk is a cool guy too and his prices are in line with what you find at most grocery stores. Stop buying from the chain groceries and support this local shop with the freshest fish in the city!
