Overall Thoughts: Evergreen is one of the older restaurants in the Old Chinatown area serving a diverse, expansive menu of primarily Cantonese staples. While I really liked some dishes (namely, the Fried Egg Tofu and Fried Taro Basket), other dishes were just so-so. The interior is arranged in classic, spacious Chinese banquet style, and the service is quick and direct. Food I tried: - Wonton Soup: Refreshing and aromatic, but there are better wonton soup options out there in Chinatown. - Fried Egg Tofu with Pea Pod Tips: Really good and would recommend!! Pea pod tips were well-sautéed; the egg tofu was full of flavor and had a great crispy exterior texture combined with a soft, silky interior texture. - Szechuan Eggplant: As a lover of Chinese-style sautéed eggplants, I was disappointed by this dish. The mix of eggplants with American broccoli didn’t work for me, and the eggplant wasn’t soft / fried enough. - Deep Sea in Basket: This is a creative dish that I haven’t seen before in other restaurants in Chinatown— it’s sautéed seafood placed in a “basket” made of taro. The basket was the best part in my opinion— it was both soft and crunchy, and had a nice subtle taro flavor, like eating taro chips. - Mongolian Delight: This was a standard, but very solid and flavorful dish of sautéed veggies and beef. The beef was tender and the flavors were rich. - Thai Pineapple Shrimp: Didn’t love this dish; it was originally supposed to be mango shrimp, but they ran out of mango and substituted pineapple. I didn’t love the monotonous flavor combination of the sour/tangy pineapple with the mildly sour/tangy sauce. Split between 4 people, the total came out to ~$30/pp including tax/tip, which was solid considering we were all extremely full afterwards and still had leftovers to take home. — Price (relative to peers): 4.4/5 Food: 4.2/5 Ambience: 4.7/5 Service: 4.6/5 Overall Value: 4.2/5

One of the best Chinese restaurant in USA for me. Large and clean seating area. Staffs are really helpful with the order and they are English communication so well. Food are superb with fresh ingredients. Fish are really good also the oyster. I don't know the name just give them the picture they will understand. Street parking is ok. Their location far from clouded area in chinatown.

I love the food here because it bring me the feeling of old and traditional Chinese. The food was amazing for me. I have been to Chinatown many time but they don’t have much old Chinese restaurants left. Everyone should come here and try the Chinese food. The menu is new now, so everyone can check it out easier 👍

I’ve been coming here with my parents for several years now (so much that the manager and waitresses know our order). They serve authentic Cantonese and Szechuan food with good portions and excellent flavor. Some of our usuals are baby clams with black bean sauce, salt and pepper pork chop, walnut shrimp, salt and pepper japanese egg tofu stuffed with shrimp, szechuan string beans, and the peking duck.

You want authentic Chinese food? This is the place. I have been coming here for over 20 years. A fixture in Chinatown. Great service. Owner is directly involved in making sure you enjoy your stay. The issue is always parking in Chinatown so be patient. Don't order the Americanized food you find in the suburbs. That would just be an insult. They know my family as frequent customers. I am very surprised it is not more crowded. It's at the opposite end of the square on Wentworth. A bear kept secret. Give them some love and enjoy the food!

We have dined in at Evergreen once, and ordered delivery to our hotel another time. Both times the service and food were superb. The frozen lemonade is absolutely delicious and made with real lemons! The chicken fried rice is a huge flavorful portion. Everything we have ordered has been fresh, hot, and so yummy! They delivered to our hotel, and the food was packaged very well with silverware. We are very pleased with Evergreen. You will not be disappointed!

Wide selection available on a delicious menu. The service is really great in every way…a winning combination. They are located at the south end of the strip of restaurants on Wentworth, give them a try, you will enjoy the experience!

Evergreen Restaurant hits the head on the nail for authentic Cantonese style cuisine. Classic Chinese dishes can be ordered but I suggest adventurous palates venture into their specialty entrees. Shrimp stuffed eggplant, salt and pepper shrimp and the Peking duck (wrapped table-side) will not disappoint. Whole steamed catch of the day could be monkfish, trout or grouper. Vegetarians and soy allergies can be avoided, ask for liquid aminos when possible. The appetizers or stuffed crab claws and crab Rangoon will delight the picky eaters. Try the Chow Fun, extra crispy noodles along with vegetables and choice of meat for a rounded meal. Been coming to Evergreen for almost 20 years so they are family friendly, accommodating and a hidden gem in Chinatown.
