Excellent shareable plates for small groups. Because everything is very creative, we simply asked the manager for the "best hits", and we were very pleased. We especially liked the MSG chicken, great flavor and texture.

We were in town for an event and were referred to Oak + Char for dinner. We arrived a little early and since it's located in the art/gallery district, we were able to kill a little time visiting a few of the galleries which was nice. Once inside, we were promptly seated by the cordial reception staff. Not really knowing what to order, we asked the server his recommendations and followed his lead. We started with a broccoli dish and the beef tartare. The beef tartare was excellent, some of the best (if not the best) we've had. It melted in our mouth. The broccoli was also great, though our least favorite if we had to pick, but don't let that discourage you, it was great! For the main portion of our dinner, we ordered the pork collar...Wow, was it amazing. So tender and flavorful. We decided to try desert against our better judgement and were so glad we did. We had some sort of angel food cake that was the best angel food cake I'd ever had by a long shot. I was determined to only have a bite, but once that bite was in my mouth, I was reaching for another. Being form out of town, we like to treat ourselves to nice meals when we visit. Oak + Char will be on our regular (and small) rotation, it was that good.

Amazing place, especially for happy hour. Really elegant and fancy feel, while not a pretentious crowd. The wings and burgers are impressive, I have yet to venture past then to the real courses. Huge screen behind a mirror on game days.
