Review Fondue Stube - Chicago

Such a great dinner experience! Went with a group to celebrate a birthday, the format is perfect for ordering a bunch of items and everybody gets a little bit of everything. And they lit the chocolate on fire so we could toast marshmallows for dessert! Unforgettable dinner, highly recommend!

Bought a Groupon in hopes to have a great mother daughter date with my teenager. Let’s just say it was a memorable experience. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves. The dim lighting and cute decor was the perfect ambiance for us . This was about a hour drive being we are from the Midway airport area. For it being our first time we felt very welcome. Our server Tick was super patient and explained everything to perfectly! Thank you for our wonderful experience. The only thing I would do different is ask for paper napkins.

Classic, delicious, and over the top charming! My wife and I have been going to Fondue Stube for almost 20 years beginning when we were teenagers. Every time we go, we fall in love with Stube all over again. Everything from the top notch service to the red light atmosphere is exactly the same with every visit, and we hope it never changes. We generally order one of the prefixed menu options. You start with salad and garlic bread. This is then followed by a cheese fondue and then a main course. We've had every kind of cheese over the years, and the swiss is our favorite. The cheddar is a close second. Next is the soybean oil main course, with choices of protein with vegetables. We usually go for the beef, which pairs perfectly with the four available sauces. I always opt for extra broccoli which crisps up beautifully in the oil. Finally for dessert you get a chocolate fondue with several fruits and angel food cake. We added rice crispy treats for the first time this visit, and cannot recommend it highly enough! Throughout the meal, the attentive servers will follow each course at your pace with no rush. The owner, Carole, is so sweet and remembers my wife and I after all these years. She runs a tight ship and guided her staff to treat every customer the same amazing white glove service. Our server, Ricky, has served us many times and is an amazing example of what to notch food service is. Don't miss out on this amazing establishment and the wonderful memories that are made here.

Fondue Stube is a cozy, fun, and delicious experience. Perfect place to enjoy fine cuts of meats ( including seafood), fresh vegetables, fruits, and other tasty treats, self-prepared in delicate oils, various chocolates, and cheeses. The ambiance is soft and cultured. Great place to savor fine foods & drinks with friends, romance, or even alone... it's just that charming and relaxing (with participative- Fun!). Lot's of street parking available made for an easy arrival.

Definitely a hidden gem! Our waiter Rick was super professional and helpful. The food was delicious with perfect portion sizes. Very clean and dim lit ambiance. Great date night. We especially loved the cheddar cheese dip with apples and bread

This place was great! The environment is cozy and welcoming, the customer service was the best I’ve ever experienced. No one in my party had really done fondue before and the staff really made sure we had a great dinner. The food was delicious and filling. Really feel like this is a special gem on Chicago’s Northwest side.

We spent the day in Chicago- we live about an hour and a half away. I had been wanting to take my kids to Fondue for a very long time so after a google search and reading the reviews I decided to try Stube fondue. The atmosphere was perfect. Our server was so nice and helpful and even Carol (I assume her) came and spoke with us and helped arrange our table setting. The food was great, especially the desserts! I’m very happy I chose to try this place out! I loved that classical music was playing as well.

The cream cheese fondue was fantastic and unique! Oil was okay but nothing special, especially the 'curry' dip. I do live roasting the marshmallow over the fudge, though!

Best fondue in all of Chicago with an authentic 1970s atmosphere. Definitely my new favorite restaurant. Sadly we just found out about it last month.

Our group has been coming here at least annually for 20+ years, and Carol and her crew are the best! The food and drinks are consistently delicious and they always take great care of us.

Great experience for my husband, 15 year old son and myself. Small children are definitely not a good option here. Although the pots are well secured, it just best to avoid bringing them as there's literally boiling oil on the table and sometimes you have to stand to get a rogue piece of veg or fish that slipped off the fork into the oil. Great date night place, totally interactive and tons of conversation opportunities. Lovely atmosphere in my opinion, very cozy. Hope you try it with a loved one. This place certainly deserves to be preserved as a small business. The host, server, and bus person were all very friendly. This isn't a cheap meal but compared to other places this is your best bet on a budget, would've cost $130 for 3 people but again it's worth it for the food, experience, and it take up a couple of hours so definitely worth it. Plus you're supporting a small biz! Try it and have an open mind! Definitely the gateway to love of fondue. The desert was my favorite part, it was pretty awesome.
