Espressamente Illy - Nbc Tower

This Espressamente Illy is at the ground floor corner of the NBC Tower at Cityfront Plaza. Stopped by this branch recently and enjoyed a nicely prepared macchiato with a good blend of milk, bit of foam and strong espresso. It was a good morning pick-me-up drink. Baristas were very friendly and welcoming as well.

The staff that works in the mornings here seriously brighten my day (2 women in the front, and a male pastry chef). I go in just to grab a delicious coffee and chat with them around 8 am a couple of times a week. They know the name of my dog and remember my order every time. They are fun, hilarious, and efficient. They keep that place running in tip top shape even when it is really busy. I also love vanilla latte's (iced or regular) and the vanilla they use here is delicious, way better than Starbucks. We love it and will keep coming back again and again.

I have seen their espresso advertised in magazines and online. I've also seen their machines at high end kitchen stores. Thought I would finally try out the coffee. I had their version of a nitro, which I think they called a cold press aria. They actually let me choose how much foam and bubbles I wanted! Not used to that. It was only a 12 oz glass, but I got the same caffeine kick that I usually do from the 16 oz, so I'm not sure if that's because of the caffeine content or some sort of placebo effect. Either way, the barista was knowledgeable and the entire space was small but comfortable. This is tucked right in the corner of the NBC Tower and you can enter from either the street or the lobby of the tower.

Friendly staff, average prices, excellent coffee, and fun views! In addition, you could definitely post up and work. It’s a bit off the beaten path (AKA Michigan Ave) so it is quieter. It would also be a fun place to meet with friends. They have pastries and abbreviated food menu. The photos are from the window facing south.
