Found this place through a google search after a conference at McCormick place. Great Hawaiian decor creates a lonely atmosphere. The server was pleasant and the food was amazing! I can't remember the names of our dishes or the name of my drink. But they were all excellent! (sorry)
I really liked this place! We went here on a Friday evening (we did have a reservation) and it was fairly busy, but still tables were available. The interior was nicely decorated and the food was really amazing! We got the short rib (for the price, I guess we expected more), the bbq beef poke bowl and the pork ribs. Everything was very flavorful, service was quick and I would definitely recommend this place!
We came for dinner and had a somewhat good experience. The decor was cute, and the service was quick. We ordered the spicy General Tsao’s chicken, Thai basil chicken with a fried egg, ahi tuna poke bowl, midnight tsunami sushi roll, pad see ewe with chicken, Vietnamese home style pho, and Huli Huli chicken poke bowl. The food was good, but the spice levels were mild at best, despite us asking for multiple dishes to be extra spicy. Our server was also somewhat rude to us. Additionally, there was a 20% service charge calculated into the bill already, but this service charge took 20% of the total bill including tax, which is not the typical way to calculate the service charge. We were somewhat caught off guard by the bill, as this wasn’t explicitly disclosed to us, and we realized this on our own after leaving the restaurant. We may still return, but only because the food was good.
My girlfriend and I ate here while we were in town for our anniversary. The atmosphere is so fun and they have excellent decorations. The staff were all very friendly and we were seated quickly! Now for the actual food, the menu is large with lots of options. Our appetizers were so good I wish I had ordered extra crab Rangoon. I’d say bring an appetite because the portions are big. Every dish tasted so fresh and blew my mind I can’t wait to go back.
Loved the indoor decor and ambience. My friends thought I was in Hawaii after seeing my pics! The place is so cozy and such a great find in the hustle bustle of Chicago city. We got pad Thai which was a little too sweet. My husband got the sea food platter and was pleased with the quantity and quality. Price is reasonable too.
This food was AMAZING. I didn't want it to end. Everything was so fresh and flavorful.
I ordered the mini lumpia and the spicy tropical cyclone sushi burrito. The burrito was so unique. It was hitting all the notes with varying textures and flavors. The outside was dusted in a spicy coating. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly and encased tons of fresh vegetables - carrots, cucumbers, cabbage. It also contained tofu and inari. It was served with a spicy pickled veggie mixture which was sweet, sour, spicy, and savory. It was the perfect compliment to the burrito.
The burrito stole the show but the lumpia were also well cooked and crispy. Not greasy or oily.
The ambiance of the place was great even though I ordered to go. I was greeted promptly. I could see dining here being enjoyable.
Really cool spot! Sushi was just ok but the Penang poutine was so yummy and the portions were super generous. Also strong and creative drinks! A great place to go for a big group and great for vegans
I had the pleasure of dining at AO Hawaiian Hideout, and from the moment I stepped in, the ambience transported me to the serene shores of Hawaii. The decor resonated with my family, making us feel like we were truly on an island getaway.
To start, we embarked on a culinary adventure with a sampler platter that delighted our taste buds. It featured delectable egg rolls, savory crab Rangoon, perfectly crispy tempura-fried shrimp, flavorful pot stickers, and a mouthwatering spam musubi, glazed to perfection. This appetizer set the stage for an exquisite dining experience.
For our main course, we indulged in the beef pad see ewe, a dish bursting with savory flavors, generous portions of tender meat, and an explosion of taste. Alongside it, the bourbon teriyaki chicken stole the show with its exquisite blend of flavors, leaving us craving for more.
The drinks complemented our meal beautifully, offering a delightful array of flavors and refreshment.
AO Hawaiian Hideout is a place I wholeheartedly recommend for an outing with family or friends. And for those who love a bit of live entertainment, don't miss their live music performances on the first Saturday of every month. A true Hawaiian culinary gem awaits you here.
This place served delicious food and had excellent service. We brought our dog and were the only customers sitting outside. But our server never made us feel forgotten about. They even brought out a tub with water for our dog. We ordered the vegan roll, cucumber roll, and vegan poke.
Hands down!! This place has never disappointed us since the day we have been here. Love the food, vibe, live music and drinks. The best Thai food place I have been to so far.
