Ordered the brussel sprouts and the Tokyo shoyu ramen. Brussel sprouts were roasted and came out piping hot. They were soft but still had a good chew, 7.4/10.
The ramen came with 2 thick pieces of chashu, menma, green onions, naruto fish cake and half a soy sauce egg. Overall the toppings were good and the pork chashu was incredibly tender given how thick the pieces were. The broth was salty and had good depth and umami. The noodles had a good texture and had a solid bite. Overall a really good bowl of ramen, 8.6/10

This ramen place is comfy and the service is fantastic! Everyone is welcoming and attentive, my group never waited more than a few seconds when asking additional things. The food was delicious as well, the chicken karaage had a delcious spicy mayo and the Osaka shio ramen was tasty, although I would have enjoyed a crispier char siu.

Ramen shop located in west loop serving ramen, bao buns, and even sushi! First time trying Ramen Takeya and I was pleasantly surprised at one how well decorated the place was and two how tasty the food was!! Ordered a few different things each was 5 stars:
Chicken bao buns had awesome flavor with the perfect sweet and savory combo
Ramen was spicy enough for a kick but not overpowering
Poke bowl was a huge serving that had the right about of fish to rice
The Brussel sprouts had the perfect taste to them!
Will be back to Ramen Takeya!

I ordered the vegan ramen with a side of the garlic chips. The side of garlic was definitely not worth an extra $2, but the broth and. Overall, broth and noodles were great though! The Green Geisha cocktail was quite refreshing after the hot soup!

A hip and trendy ramen spot in West Loop’s Fulton Market that doesn’t take reservations, so maybe expect a wait if you go at popular dinner times. Luckily, my friends and I got the last available table at 6 on a Friday, so we were seated immediately. The space is small and cozy, and the vibes were casual. The service is friendly and pretty quick.
They have a mix of ramen, rice bowls, steamed bao buns, and small plates, but I opted for just ramen and got the Tokyo Classic Shoyu. It was quite delicious and satisfying, though the broth was too salty— the saltiness in the broth unfortunately overpowered its other fragrant and hearty flavors. The noodles were well-cooked though and had a nice texture. The bamboo was soft and chewy, the egg delicious. The pork belly char siu was extremely tender, fatty, and flavorful. The ingredients in the bowl were great overall and fresh— my only real complaint was the saltiness of the broth, which unfortunately diminished the consumption experience.
Prices are pretty high ($16-17 per bowl), but standard for the area. I’ve only been to one other ramen spot in West Loop, but I would say the whole package (noodles + ingredients + broth) tasted better and fresher here. Overall, I was a fan and would like to try their vegan ramen in the future.

Takeya is a really fun restaurant with a great atmosphere and solid food. I’ve been in twice and had a positive experience both times. Their buns are absolutely delectable, they have Asahi on tap, and they have a lot of bar seating, which makes it a great place to walk in casually.
The Miso Bold & Spicy ramen is my favorite here. It honestly doesn’t pack a ton of heat so don’t be afraid to order this one if you’re not into super spicy food. The broth is chicken-based, but it still has a creamy and rich quality. There was enough fatty opacity to it for me to come back even though I tend to go for the richest and spiciest pork broths.
They have a lot of bigger tables here, so if you have a group of 6 or 8 they can likely seat you all together. Just know they absolutely will not seat you unless your entire party is present. I have seen people waiting on the rest of their groups both times I walked in. My most recent visit was on a Friday night at around 7:15, and despite it being peak time my wife and I got a seat within 15 minutes. It’s definitely always busy, but not swamped.

Really good ramen, excellent appetizers. I recommend the pork bun. They made a mistake with giving us our order but they fixed it quickly so everything was fine. Definitely better than most of the other ramen shops in the area.

The hype for this place is too much.. I guess 5 years ago when I tried it first time it was worth it.. but not anymore..
We got the staple starters Chicken Karaage and Crispy Takoyaki chicken plus Osaka Shiro and Misso bold and spicy ramen..
Chicken Karaage was not even crispy and color does not look appealing. The Takoyaki well it was decent with the souce but I had better ones. Ramen was great though the broth was very rich ..
Overall.. good experience but not worth the hype.

Averagely good ramen with good consistency. I've been there quite a few times for convenient and they are always at the same quality. They are not the best in Chicago, but good enough that I always go back. Eggs are cooked right. Good broth and good meat, although it could be softer and more melty. Don't get their mochi though, Trader Joe's are way better! Good amount of Japanese whiskey on the menu.

The noodles themselves were great, chewy, not too soft or too hard.
The soup was also fantastic even though I am the fan of pork bone soup instead of broth.
Chashu was too fat. The thickness was either too thick or too thin. The chief really need to work on his slicing technique.
Karaage nuggets was the worst of the worst if you ever tried real karaage nuggets before...
Last thing, we wait there for about more than an hour.. and our soup was not warm at the time it was served.

The exterior of this ramen joint is so plain you would miss it if you weren’t looking for it. I was absolutely blown away by how good the food here was. Their karaage is full of flavour, tender and juicy with a nice thin crispy batter. The Osaka shio ramen is phenomenal with the yuzu boost addon (don’t even think about skipping it), and was probably the best Shio ramen I have ever had
This one is a must-visit!

Delicious simple ramen! The broth has good flavor and it’s not overwhelming in flavor. The meat is very tender and compliments the broth very nicely. Would definitely come again! The place is quite small but large compared to other Japanese restaurants. It is a little misleading thought because there is no sign outside that says Takeya. Service is also good!

The restaurant is cute, like the inter design. The food is decent. They can improve a bit on the fried chicken karaage as it taste a bit floury. The ramen is ok nothing special

My favorite place for ramen. I feel like a lot of ramen places in Chicago are fusion or not authentic Japanese. Ramen takeya is different - their ramen actually makes me miss Japan. My favorite is the soicy chicken paitan ramen, which has the perfect amount of spice along with its light broth.
I also recommend their hanetsuki gyoza and their Brussels sprouts!
If you're craving a drink try the calpico cocktail which is similar to a calpico sour you can get in Japan.

The best ramen I’ve had in Chicago hands down! I’ve tried it all and the ramen here and at their sister restaurant ramen wasabi top them all! The service was also wonderful, I loved chatting with our server and he was very knowledgeable. They have tents outside to abide by the Covid restrictions and even though it was cold outside, the tents had heaters and they blocked the wind so we were able to keep warm! Of course the ramen helped as well! Highly recommend this spot I can’t wait to come back.

This place is great. Lovely outdoor seating that was comfortable. We had such tasty food. We started with the pork belly bao buns. It was super flavorful. Although, I prefer pork belly with some crisp. We then had the spicy chicken ramen and after our lovely waitress recommended it, the miso. She was right, the miso was so good. So was the spicy chicken though.
Our waitress was great. Kind, quick and lovely.
The other staff we interacted with were also attentive and quick.
Support this amazing spot and eat here often.

Omakase Takeya is located below Ramen Takeya. The moment you walk in, you'll check-in and then be escorted downstairs into the intimate setting for the evening. When you enter, you'll be presented with a seven seat sushi bar with head sushi Chef, Sasaki-san. Once seated, you'll be shown the items for your omakase experience, inside a carefully placed wooden box. Once your drink order has been placed, the festivities begin. A full disclaimer to those looking to dine here: Omakase Takeya is edomae style, which is very traditional. There's no frills or thrills that you should be expecting. The fanciest of items you may be presented for the evening would be a apple wood chip smoked sashimi. Aside from that, it's all very natural flavoring of the fish. There were things that I liked more than others, but nothing was bad. I was hoping for more fish (more nigiri/sashimi), instead, I was presented with almost half the menu from the kitchen (which isn't necessarily bad, I just prefer more fish than cooked items).

I personally never leave reviews, but seeing the negative reviews on here really made me want to speak up. Went to this place today cuz a friend of mine said it might be better than santouka, which is saying A LOT. In response to some other reviews here, this place specializes in chicken ramen which is different from tonkotsu. I don't think it's fair to expect the same tonkotsu flavor from chicken paitan. (Why not just get tonkotsu...) With that, I have to say this place might be the best ramen place in Chicago. Both the chicken paitan(very solid chicken flavor) and the Tokyo classic shoyu are excellent. Noodles were cooked just right, the toppings were exceptional. I'd definitely go back again and again!!!
