My first experience here with a group of schuler scholar family. The waiters were very kind, and the food had very beautiful presentation. The chef gave us details about the food (specifically the soup). Me and my friends had a very good time here. We originally came here for etiquette skills (even as a minor).... Definitely not like a fast food restaurant, it was a great reminder to be joyous and not to rush yourself.

If you are looking for high quality authentic French cuisine at a reasonable price, then La Petite Folie is the restaurant for you. i recently had their roasted Halibut with ratatouille and baby potatoes and it was outstanding!. The dish itself was a work of art with each component distinct yet complimenting the whole. But the perfectly prepared Halibut was the star. It was moist and yet the fish flaked perfectly with a little assistance from my fork. And i can say, with no hesitation it was the most delicious fish i have ever tasted!

Listen if you are looking for a fast meal in a trendy and hip place. Dont go here. But if you are looking for quality and to slow down, appreciate the company and taste at an affordable price this is now my go to option in hyde park. The deserts are something special as is the rest of the meal.

Not just the best restaurant in Hyde Park, but, in my opinion, the very finest French restaurant in Chicago. With the veeerrry particular owner in the kitchen who finds every opportunity to come to the dining room to assure perfection in service to accompany the best food. And I can't help but make some recommendations like the roasted onion tart appetizer to begin. Then the duck breast entre. You can come back the next night for the Idaho Trout. Or just drive around the block because you still haven't tasted the scallops! Who would have thought a place like this would be virtually hidden in a strip mall, albeit one with a pleasant courtyard in one of the best neighborhoods in the City.

La Petite folie is a bastion of fine dining in the otherwise acceptable but nothing to write home about cuisine of Hyde Park. I've been to France quite a few times and right when you walk in there you feel the atmosphere of the old country. Then you look at their wine list and you know you're in a real French restaurant. They make the best omelettes in Hyde Park but their cuisine goes so far beyond that. They have a lot of game and meats that you don't generally come across in this city, all prepared in an authentically French style, and they've figured out the rare twist for the American palate that enhances rather than dumbs down the food. Highly recommended.

We shared the fixed price New Year's Eve dinner with another couple. Excellent! The place was full but wait staff kept up gracefully and efficiently. Chef Mary Mastricola offered more selections than is typical for such a meal, and we had a hard time choosing. Special appetizers included creative approaches to escargots persillade and foie gras with winter fruit. We tried a similar NYE fixed price meal (fixed at a much higher level) at a downtown, highly rated, restaurant last year and found quality and service had suffered, presumably because of the demands for this type of event. Not so at La Petite Folie! It was even better than usual! No live entertainment, unless you count the group at the next table.

Petite folie is a wonderful french restaurant! Tucked between a few stores in the open courtyard of a mall. The advantage, no problem with parking a large lot is available. The atmosphere is cozy snd comfortable. The cuisine is simply delicious. I had the salmon. Cooked to perfection. Served with brussel sprouts, saukeraut and carrots. We also had filet it was wonderful. This restsurant is a must to visit. You will not be disappointed

Great french restaurant in Hyde Park. Perfect location in a cute courtyard, good atmosphere, and excellent food. The menu is always changing according to seasonal produce, so it's always fresh and different. Great date restaurant if you're looking to impress!

One of the best meals I've had in Chicago. I believe I had the tuna, which was beautiful: mild despite the peppercorn crust, and touching because I hadn't eaten meat in many years. Went to celebrate my promotion at an ad firm that no longer exists. It's been a while. I don't know if it is still the practice, but at one time the servers were forced, gavage-style, to memorize the Larousse Gastronomique. Quite effective. One also sung in the U of C Russian choir, so there was that lurking. And the chef's teeth!

Went here with some friends for lunch, very beautiful restaurant. Waiters were very knowledgable about the menu and the service was excellent. Food was amazing as well, friends had the fish was they said was cooked very well.
