Review Davanti Enoteca River North - Chicago

Overall: Great option for larger parties and 'safe bet' Italian cuisine, Davanti delivers a quality experience overall. The good: Tons of seating and a really fascinating atmosphere. Very rustic vibes. The menu varies well and isn't too overwhelming, with options for everyone. The portion sizes are just right. The prosciutto pizza is fantastic, and the pasta is fresh and perfect texture-wise. The not-so-good: The music was, unfortunately, 80s rockish. Sitting there dining, I was craving more appropriate Italian-esque music. The waiter was slow to conclude the checkout process. The chicken sole mio was disappointing in terms of taste. Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 8/10

The San Diego location is better, but I still enjoyed the focaccia from here. Definitely share it with people because it's huge.

Hands down, the best breakfast/brunch I have had in years! Still sitting at our table and can't wait to come back!

Fantastic meal. No waiting. Came here with a work group. Our server recommended ordering many dishes for the table as the portions are small plates. Everything we ordered was delicious. Favorite item was the Orecchiete pasta. They make the noodles in house. The risotto was a close second. Favorite appetizer was the prosciutto and veal meatballs. Great meal, great price, excellent service.

My companion had the steel cut oats with yogurt and she loved it. The fruit that accompanied it was fresh and sweet. I had the traditional, two eggs sausage potatoes and toast. The potatoes were thinly cut, cooked semi firm and seasoned with an Italian twist, very tasty. The eggs were done over light and cooked perfectly. The two sausage links were perfect portion. Overall great experience at a hotel restaurant. The ambience is was nice and relaxing, with windup seating facing the street so naturel light enters the room. The value was reasonable, again taking into account is in a hotel but you have the convenience!

This place is definitely a one of my go to's for breakfast and/or brunch. They start serving alcoholic beverages at 7:30 AM which is a gift on an early Saturday or Sunday. It's always easy to get a table in the daytime and is attached to Glazed & Infused as well as the Marriott. The service is generally good and quick but they done rush you and and the booths are spacious and very comfortable. The food is also delicious. Some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had! The steak and eggs are also great and the side of sausage and roasted grapes is must order for the table! They also have regular breakfast items such as bagels, egg sandwiches and some sweeter items if that's what you enjoy with your morning mimosas!

The food was great. The octopus was awesome! I deducted 1 star because of understaffing. The waiter was good, but the management is just under staffing. I note only 1 main waiter serving the entire place, assisted by 3-4 silent servers who presumably are cheaper and don't know the menu - nor English. C'mon, food is good, but don't skimp on staffing!

The risotto was INCREDIBLE! I loved it. The energy of the place, the staff, the drink, my meal: all STELLAR. The spritzer I had was also perfect. Chad was the manager that came to see me at the bar and I raved then too! I'll be back for sure

I tend to be bias against hotel restaurants but I love the original restaurant on Taylor St so I had to check out the one close to my work. I went here for lunch on a Friday and it was easy to get a table but not so empty that conversation was awkward. My table ordered the ricotta vasi (always a hit), the warm kale salad and the leeks and truffle pizza. Everything was tasty, especially the ricotta vasi which is my go-to appetizer and the bill was reasonable for lunch. This place has now been added to my list of business lunch spots to take clients and out-of-town guests because it's not too crowded and the food is sure to please anyone.

I really like this restaurants! The food is sexy, and the waitresses are delicious. Sorry I mixed it up. I mean the food is really nice and delicious, you know. The pasta is great there, the appetizers are incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Visited this place on a Friday with a couple of friends for dinner. It was pretty cool. Authentic Italian cuisine. If you are into Italian, check this place out. Ambiance: Pretty classy, quiet and intimate ambiance. Not too fancy. They have cool interior decoration. It was quite empty compared to other nearby places on a Friday night. Food: We ordered Ricotta Honey Comb, Pizza Soppressata, Davanti Burger and Wagyu Bresaola. Food was really tasty and awesome. Service: They have this policy here, which item is ready first, it will come first. So you can share the food with others as they come one by one. And also you don't need to know Italian to order food, our server helped a lot. I would recommend Davanti to others definitely.

Dinner was good. Good Pizza and pork osobucco was delicious. Service was pretty good even considering it was the same day as St.Pattys day parade and everything was crazy. Had breakfast the following morning, it was great and the place was quite and peacefull! Corned beef hash was the bomb!

Both times I went we split a couple of bottles of wine, some charcuterie with the typical accoutrements of pretty nice cheeses, olives, etc. The place is nestled in the ground floor of the Conrad hotel, but I didn't realize it after walking in off the street--only when I had gotten up to use the bathroom and found myself going through the hotel lobby. No criticism intended. I really really like the octopus dish, but most everything has been decent enough and any minor flaw is forgiven by how chill the place is in general. Stay away, however, from the "cacio e pepe"--unless our experience was unique, their take on it is best described as pasta Alfredo with an absolute hailstorm of hard cheese and black pepper. I'm positive I love pepper more than 95% of the population but this was disgusting. They were quite polite about removing it from the bill.

I agree that restaurants in hotels are not always the most desirable, but this is a place you must check out. The decor is quite impressive. Rustic reclaimed lumber adorns the walls, and rough brick walls are a nice accent. Make sure you walk around the place and check out the wood-fired oven and homemade pasta station. But the star of this place is the food. Everything we had was great. Mascarpone polenta with lamb ragu was a big hit, so was the grilled beet salad. Although my favorite dish was probably the simplest, a hen of the woods mushroom, sautéed... with a fried duck egg on top. We were there for a lunch and the place was a little less than half full, the staff was excellent.

I like the ambience. It's vibrant. We went with some friends and it was good. The food was above average but the presentation was great. Friendly staff.

Breakfast was ok. Nice omelette and potatoes. Also had lunch here and really enjoyed the meatball sandwich. The meatballs were tender and well seasoned with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Good sandwich to share. It's big.<br/>

Had dinner here on a Friday night. The service was excellent! Very attentive and courteous. However I found my actual meal underwhelming. The veal meatballs were very flavorful. The pasta was less than thrilling. Over all I had a good time and I really enjoyed how wonderful the service but I have had better Italian meals.

Yum! I hosted a company meal here tonight. Everyone loved the food, enjoyed their time and left happy!

Located in Near North Side, Davanti Enoteca was both cozy, and provided a very nice family-diner feel. I immediately felt at home as we were quickly seated upon reservation and slipped into our booth, We started off with a Pinot Grigio , and excitedly wandered our eyes up and down the Dinner Menu. Reading the menu, it feels like you were at a completely foreign restaurant, words are just thrown at you. I've learnt that evening that "Vasi" , meaning, "Mini Mason Jars"  is my favorite Italian word. You'll see exactly why in a bit! A pointer is to keep a look out for the English translation or glossary somewhere about the page and you'll be fine.

Last month I checked out the new brunch menu at Davanti Enoteca in River North. Davanti Enoteca is part of Francesca's Restaurants and the River North location is one of several locations in Chicago and California.  It's an Italian wine bar with shareable plates of Italian cuisine, as well as a selection of antipasti, and salads. I enjoyed an extensive tour of the brunch menu along with some other Chicago bloggers. One of the main attractions of the brunch menu is the build-your-own bloody mary bar. To say the bar is gigantic would be an understatement. There is a large selection of juices, olives, spices, and traditional (and not-so-traditional) accoutrements that will have you wondering where to start! A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to try out the River North location. The menu was the same although the atmosphere was a little different. The feel was slightly darker and trendier that the Little Italy counterpart. The food was excellent as was our service. They have this interesting setup with Glazed and Infused next door, but it's not like we had any room to take advantage of that. Make sure to check it out if you're nearby.
