We sat in the back patio which was much quieter than the inside. The inside was nicely decorated and ambient but if you’d like to have a more quiet experience I would suggest the patio. The food was decent although I think I expected more. The best dish was the salmon salad. Although for $26 it might scare u away.
I would skip the boudin balls. They were just alright. The fried chicken and cheesy grits were very good though, so I’d suggest ordering that. Wish the cocktail menu was a little more extensive as well. Overall, glad I tried it but not sure I’ll be back.

Best beignets outside of New Orleans, good strong creole coffee, and very flavorful thick cut applewood bacon! Everything was well prepared but not enough seasoning. Gratefully the pickled peach hotsauce packs on the missing flavor without bringing the heat. Definitely skip the biscuits though, not nearly enough butter used. Service was sufficient, the ambience is nice and we enjoyed the jazz and rock and roll music selections.

Well Big Jones has delicious Fried Chicken, and interesting take on a smokey Gumbo, wonderful choices is fresh brewed Teas and warm beignets.
I can't recommend the Shrimp and Grits but the service was beyond excellent.
I really enjoyed how special Blake made us feel. We came during Saturday Brunch.
I would love to return because of Blake, the interesting menu and to try their dinner menu.

What a treat to eat at this place! Who doesn't like southern menu, especially when it is done right. I had the Eggs Bayou and I can honestly say they were some of the best eggs I have had in a while. And I'm so glad I had their Bloody Mary, the pickled Okra was surprisingly good. We were a party of 10 at brunch and all of us enjoyed every bit of it.

Amazing intimate space, Preston was 👏🏾 amazing, kind and on his game. We found parking right in front. Absolutely book reservations, we had Sunday brunch. Definitely a vibe!!Food was delicious. Southern/ New Orleans decor. This place gets busy fast. I will be back for sure. New favorite local spot 😍!!

Amazing place! When you walk in there is the most delightful fragrance of food! It smells exactly what you want your kitchen to smell like. We chose to sit near the kitchen so we could watch them cook, they were effortless. The staff was great, we had questions and they didn't mind answering. Since it was RW, we ordered a lot. My fave appi is the barbecue shrimp, which is more like a prawn and served with a rue that makes you wanna smack yo mama! The okra was a lot like greens and while good, because we like okra, not my fave. The cornbread is outstanding and we even took an order home & at $15 - I think it's worth it. No other place has it like that. The fried chicken was great, the flavor is long, the chicken is moist, the skin is crunchy. The alligator is cooked is a stew that reminded me of ratatouille I've had in France. Everything flavorful. The greens are so great! Mac n cheese wasn't very cheese but the flavor hit. I might try it one more time. The deserts, wonderful! And the drinks were perfect! They know history of food there and told it to us, we loved that. Hands down, I'll return for different items. A great place for a date night or with friends. Overall, a must!

Make a reservation or... be lucky like me today and get 2 of the 5 or 6 chairs at the chefs table. It was busy and I don't believe we would have waited for a seat. I'm very glad we did. The waiter, David, was super nice, timely and apologetic when the place was very busy and he didn't get back to us for a bit. Mimosas were more champagne and less OJ which is always a win in my book. Our Gumbo Ya Ya was excellent. I had the Chilaquiles with two fried eggs and it was divine! I could only take down half it and I tried to do more. My partner had the Eggs Bayou Lafourche and it was also amazing! The eggs were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this wonderful place!

Stopped by Big Jones with some friends for an afternoon lunch. Everything was simply delicious! I had the Crawfish Etouffee (which is pictured), which was truly amazing and is very difficult to make (or, at least, to make a good and authentic version.). Also tried the Shrimp and Grits and the Skillet Cornbread, which was also delicious. Service was wonderful and let us sit and enjoy our meal. Would very highly recommend if you are looking for some Louisiana favorites!

Such a great menu and selection of foods for a southern inspired restaurant. Had the fixed price tasting menu and it was so much food but so delicious. That and the deviled crab as well which was tasty! The frozen drinks were great as well. I can't speak any better about it!

Great food and service overall. Perfect for a slow-paced brunch date. Enjoyed the $6 Bloody Marys during weekend brunch and so many delicious options for food. There are some vegetarian options - but they aren’t all labeled on the menu. Some of the sauces and gravy contain meat, so be sure to read closely if you have any restrictions.

There are many things to love about this place, but the service and beignets are on the top of that list. The food is good and I’ve been here many times. The only reason I can’t give five stars is because the dishes aren’t balanced very well in terms of starch/sauce or sweet/salty. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that there are a few options for me on the menu already and that many other things can be modified to make them vegetarian - you just need to ask. I definitely recommend you try Big Jones. You won’t regret it.
Important note on tipping: the restaurant adds a 20% service charge, but that doesn’t include tip for your waitstaff so make sure you still tip.

I've lived in Chicago for 12 years and other than once for takeout, I have never patronized Big Jones. This past Sunday, nine of us went for our friend's birthday. It did not disappoint. We all loved our food but even better was the service. In addition to our server Aisha, we had a number of other staff members taking care of us. There wasn't a single time we had to ask for anything. Anything we needed (water refill, offer for more drinks, extra plates) were brought to us without asking. Our needs were anticipated throughout the afternoon. I really can't say enough about how well we were treated. Very impressive.

Inside atmosphere, service, and food were excellent. Tried appetizers, soup, entree, and dessert. All were wonderful. This place does get busy so plan accordingly. Price is on the higher end but you will get higher quality service, detailed platings, and amazing taste and blending of flavors.

Chef Paul and staff always do an amazing job. There are a few misleading reviews on here. If you're here for greasy fried food of the drive-in's, diners and dives style, then you've come to the wrong place, don't bother, walk right out and walk over to any of the other Andersonville spots. But if you're here for true authentic Louisiana cuisine and revived historical recipes, made with care and the freshest ingredients, superbly presented, you won't be disappointed. Tip: Do leave room for Chef's authentic dessert creations! ;)

Not great, not bad. Brunch for Easter was forgettable. Felt rushed and inconsistent food. Eggs that were suppose to be poached were left a minute or so too long. Made for a dry New Orleans Benedict. Seated with reservations at the smallest,last table in the back of the restaurant. You know like the toilet seats on an airplane? A few pesky fruit flies and an underwhelming server with ok service just is not what I had hoped for. Great touch on the complimentary beignets and those were much better than the cold, dry, hard salt and pepper bisquits. May have been a much better experience if they were not jammed to capacity but I would not go out of my way to dine with them again.

I was disappointed with the fried chicken, I ordered 1/4 dark and got 1/4 white. That was an immediate turn-off. The greens were overpowered by the vinegar so the flavor of the greens was masked. The other side was less than impressive. I also ordered the cornbread, but after tasting the other dishes and not being impressed I chose not to try as I didn't want to be disappointed by another dish from this restaurant. Not worth the amount of money paid for this lunch!

The service was excellent and great ambiance. The waitress was very knowledgable I had the catfish and grits and it was so good. The salt and pepper biscuits were amazing as well. Getting the complimentary beignets to start the meal were a nice surprise. We will definitely be back.

Came during soul food week. While some was good, others were pretty bad. Server tried to warn me about the gumbo--I didn't listen. I guess I have to come back for their regular menu.

The food was okay and my waiter was okay; yet, I was traveling solo and I had brunch by myself and a my bf over FaceTime. After an hour, someone came to tell me that I was taking too long and this was not a coffee shop. Seriously? Kicking a customer who had two main dishes and was half her cappuccino out?
The couple next to me had been there the same amount of time as me and were only drinking coffee and I didn't see anyone kicking them out.
I don't recommend it... treating their customers poorly is not a good policy. I only left a good tip because the waiter was really friendly.

After years of Big Jones being my favorite brunch spot, I have to say that yesterday put the end to it. The environment was horribly noisy, we didn't get our coffee until we'd been seated for 15 minutes, and two of our meals were cool. The management made it right, but the past few visits have been decreasingly enjoyable, and I just don't think I'll make dining with them a priority again.

Our experience at Big Jones has been outstanding! My family celebrated on Father's Day, and they were very accommodating, setting up a table accessible to our elderly dad. On another occasion, my adult son and I sat at the window, with a fun view of the busy street. The food is delicious. Our hush puppy appetizers were hot, crisp on the outside and light and tasty on the inside. Everyone enjoyed the pickle appetizer. I had white meat fried chicken, which was perfectly cooked on the inside, with super crispy skin. The shrimp and grits were also delicious. The grits, my favorite, were creamy, and a wonderful complement to the shrimp. We made room for dessert and finished up with a sensational bread pudding and a few other desserts that the rest of my family devoured. All of us also enjoyed the variety of cocktails, beers, and wine available. The hosts and servers were all attentive and pleasant, with prompt service. We've been highly recommending this restaurant to everyone!
