What fun to enjoy a vegan hotdog on the museum campus!
We each ordered the $11 combo for a vegan dog, a bag of potato chips, and a canned soft drink. Affordable and filling. Topped our dogs with mustard, relish, pickle, and celery salt (not the true Chicago-style this time). The dog was piping hot; the bun was fresh; and they added alot of grated cheese for just $1 more.
Vendors have always been helpful and friendly in our experience. They also have a stand at the southwest corner of the Field Museum.
Well worth $24!
Had the Chicago style hotdog for $7. Service was quick, bread is fresh and the dog is full of flavor. Highly recommended for a quick bite.
Awesome Vienna hot dog served here. If you want ketchup, you will have to dance for it says the sign.. I got mine with Vienna chili and it was phenomenal!
Tasty Chicago style hot dog and quick service, but the price is a little steep for what you are getting. Nicely located with shaded benches nearby and great views.
The Chicago style hot dog was so good! I feel like it’s a quintessential Chicago experience to buy a Chicago dog from a street vendor and this didn’t disappoint! Fast quick and reasonably priced, we came back for seconds after finishing up at the Field Museum!
Had lunch here today while walking to the aquarium. Great tasting Chicago dog although at over $7 each that felt too high. Just a basic small hotdog but with good bun and veggies. Someone else posted about getting a Costco dog and adding veggies on your own which I think would be a good recommendation and would cost max $2. Anyway enjoyed eating here and would likely get again if I'm walking through
My husband and I both got the Chicago Style Hotdog and they were delicious. The next day we were in the area again and we went back for a second round. We think they were a great quick meal for a reasonable price.
As a local, this is the best hot dog cart! Delicious, fast friendly service and beautiful (and Museum Campus-friendly!) location. A better eating option than going to the museums
I wanted to try a Chicago dog before I left. People recommended this to me, so why not for a quick bite. The staff was nice and accommodating, and the dog was delicious.
I enjoyed the peppers and relish on this Chicago dog. Typically I'm a chili cheese dog type, but I decided to try the local fav. You should give it a try. I found it to be delicious.
It's also located by the museum and aquarium so it's very convenient if you plan on seeing the museum and such.
Overall 5/5. Would highly recommend if you are in the area and feeling a hot dog.
It doesn’t get any better than this. A fantastic Chicago-style Hot Dog in an absolutely prime location. Visit one of the museums, grab a dog, and have a nice picnic on the water and enjoy the best view of the skyline in the whole city. This stall is run by kind people using very fresh ingredients in a spot where you’re at least a 20 minute walk from anything else. It’s an oasis, and I will be coming here as often as possible.
Went to the Shedd Aquarium and the hotdog cart sits outside. I’ve never tried a Chicago style hotdog before. I’m a true D girl and love my coneys. It was cool they had non pork hot dogs so we had to try. I’m not a pickle fan at but the whole combination with the pickle, onions, tomatoes, mustard, relish, and peppers is AMAZING! That hot dog was good and I could have eaten another one lol!
My parents came from Colombia to Chicago, 55 and 65 years old and they said it was the best hot dog of their lives and asked me to write this review. Thank you guys! Ps. They have had Chicago hot dogs before.
Such a nice hot dog stand. Clean and fast. Perfect to get a real Chicago hotdog. Wasn't personally a favorite but the hotdog was well put together and the location is a life saver. Would definitely eat here again if in the area.
We went down to the Shedd aquarium to spend the day there and had some time to kill before our tickets were available. I was hungry and noticed the hot dog stands and decided to just hit one of them. I walked over and nobody was about yet because it was still early in the day and took a look at what they were offering. They actually had some really good choices and I decided to go simply with a Chicago dog combo with chips and a drink. The person that waited on me was friendly and responsive. It just took a few moments for my food to be ready and I just had to grab my drink from their cooler. I ended up with a Chicago dog with no tomato, corn chips and water. That keeps my doctor's mostly happy.
I walked over and sat on one of the benches to heat my dog and made sure to keep it close to me so the birds wouldn't try and steal things. They started gathering the moment I started on wrapping it. It was a perfect Chicago dog and I was very happy with the food. There are no tables near the two hot dogs stands but there were plenty of benches near the Shedd. The other location is by the corner near the Field Museum. As there were so many birds around I was unable to take any pictures.
If you are down in the area and looking for a quick bite to eat I can definitely recommend these places.
Fuel up for your day at the museum with this $6 Chicago Dog. Super tasty and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this no frills stand that’s confidently located close to the museum and is open relatively early.
What a relief to find glizzies after our morning at the Shedd Aquarium!! Friendly service, even gave me a hard time for asking for ketchup!! Chili Cheese Dog and a Chicago Dog had us feeling fine! Give them a try! It’s the real deal!! Plus, they serve Vienna Beef!!
Stopped by the stand for hot dogs with my Girl Scout group of 12 girls and 4 adults. The staff knew exactly how to manage the large group and we went through the line very quickly. Very pleased with the cost and the polish dogs with thier suggested Chicago style toppings was absolutely delicious. Whatever the peppers are on them were not too spicy and just perfection. I was a bit unsure about the dill spear and tomatoes but gave it all a go and highly recommend trying it thier way!
Looking around the cart, especially on a hot and sunny day, the best place to eat with a large group was across the road. There is a beautiful grassy hill with large trees for shade and it was an ideal picnic spot for us to eat and rest before heading to our next event.
One excellent Chicago Style Hot Dawg!
Fast preparation and nicely chilled drinks. Please pay it a visit!
Hot Dog Bites Back! When you bite into your Chicago-style hot dog it should have a “snap” to it, a little resistance from the casing. Use that comment around the hot dog cart, and you’ll sound like a real connoisseur.
In the early nineties Kim opened her first hot dog stand and she loved it! She hasn’t looked back. She had a small walk up window on Ontario Street for several years and eventually was awarded a contract with the Chicago Park District. Word has it that this stand has been in this spot for 30 years.
Great place to get a snack.
Kim and husband Carlo, a classical and Flamenco guitarist. When not serving hot dogs to hungry customers, the family loves to travel.
