Ate here on the first night after my move to Chicago. Probably some of the best pesto spaghetti I've ever had in my life. My buddy who came with me absolutely loved it too. Will be coming here again. Will be bringing my friends here.

What an amazing atmosphere, the waitress was wonderful (Madeline), the owner was very sweet, the food was prepared to perfection. The flavors are authentic and the portions and more than generous. I would come here on my next visit for sure! 10/10

Delicious authentic Peruvian food! We tried the chicken fried rice, arroz chaufa, ceviche, and beef kabobs. The menu is big, with lots of options including some veggie ones and great Peruvian coffee.

Chef Carmen Revoredo de Izquierdo is doing amazing things in the kitchen of this amazing neighbourhood restaurant! Having visited Peru in person, this restaurant truly is a great reflection of the homestyle tastes of Peru! Cecilia served us and made amazing recommendations to go with her friendly and welcoming service throughout the meal! It is a laid-back and casual atmosphere. The menu is quite extensive and the food came out smelled so amazing that I forgot to take photos of the main course dishes when they all came out!! If you read and see my other restaurant reviews, usually I take some nice photos of the food and I was so taken by the Taste of Peru food this time that I only took photos midway through the meal! I highly recommend trying the Lomo Saltado dish is a strip of sauteed beef with tomatoes, onions, and garlic on top of handcut french fries and rice to soak up all the sauce! Another dish that was savoury and full of umami was the Soco de Pollo which is a chicken dish with a cilantro-beer sauce that is tender and mouthwatering with every bite. My favourite dish of the night is the Seco de Cordero! It is a dish of tender bites of lamb cooked in red wine, beer, chile ancho, red peppers, pumpkin - and served with white rice and beans!! This dish was an explosion of flavour! I would also be remiss if I didn't talk about their Arroz de Mariscos (seafood rice dish) which is a their Oeruvian version of a seafood paella that was generous with the seafood and slfresh and tender in every bite! For dessert, make sure you try the Helado de Lúcuma - Lúcuma (fruit that grows in the Peruvian coast) ice-cream. The flan was light and delightful after the lamb dish being a heavier flavour dish. One of the charms of the restaurant is the live Peruvian music on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday nights (see clips of the videos posted to this review). It adds to the ambience of the place and was a delightful treat to go have dinner and entertainment while tasting the many flavours of Peru! I plan to come back and I will update this post with better photos of the food soon!

Absolute gem hole in the wall. The food is so good it makes you nostalgic for your childhood in Peru, even though you’ve never even been there. You’re gonna wish you had an extra stomach it’s so damn good. It just cannot be overstated how good the food is! Ceviche was great, but for my money it’s gotta be the Tacu Tacu. Just a wonderful homey comforting twice fried beans and rice with beef and an egg on top tasting of love to match the atmosphere (which is intimate but easygoing). Prices are very reasonable to boot. You won’t regret it.

The place is very cozy and with the live music on Wednesdays it makes it even more enjoyable!! I loved every single plate, although felt that the lomo saltado needed some work. Aside from that, loved the place, the food brought me back home and will definitely come back for some more! Also, the Flan is amazing 🤩 🇵🇪

I was very excited to try this restaurant as I’ve never had Peruvian food. I was not disappointed, the portions are HUGE so you do get some bang for your buck. The arroz con pollo was tasty and very aromatic. I would pass on the tamal just because I did think it was dry and bland, my partner had the lomo saltado and the beef was cooked well the potatoes were a bit bland ish but the veggies added a great flavor. We will definitely come back to try more dishes!

Local restaurant with a menu that is not local at all. A variety of dishes, appetizer, deserts - you will have a hard time which one to choose. All of them are delicious..especially see found dishes, and if soup is your"thing" make sure you order one of theirs.

Sooo many delicious choices! And definitely home cooked. We had to wait for our dishes bc they cook to order. Son got Guy Fieri’s fave dish- Lomo Saltado- he loved it, rib eye steak strips with fries and veggies and rice. I got Estofado de pollo. Exactly what I was craving- a hearty plate of stew. The portions are huge. Interior is small and full of Peruvian decor. We definitely want to go back.

Food was delicious. Will definitely be back and this time remember to bring a bottle of wine. Good thing is there is a liquor store only a blick away for this BYOB restaurant.

1st time having authentic Peruvian food. Food was very tasty! The Pisco sour was great, but be sure to bring your own Pisco from Peru! Owner and staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The food here is excellent. The Lomo Saltado, which is stir-fried beef with onion, tomatoes, and french fries is so tender and yummy! The paella is to die for as well! The place is quaint and the owner and staff are warm and welcoming. They have quite an assortment on their menu so am definitely going back to try more of this delicious food!

I used Taste of Peru to cater our company's luncheon held earlier today and everyone absolutely loved it including a Peruvian himself. Cesar helped me create the right menu that included Tamales (chicken & vegetarian), Arroz con Pollo, Lomo Saltado, Anticuchos Pollo (I think that's how you say it), Yuca Freitas and this AMAZING green sauce (it has the perfect kick to it, spicy goodness) Cesar and his team made sure the food made it on time and was at the right temperature and that too with it raining, the team was were very responsive and helpful in creating our event today. After my fav Peruvian restaurant closed during the pandemic, I was not sure iany place could come close to their level of deliciousness and I am so glad that these guys did, and they left a great taste in so many first timers' mouths. Can't wait for another excuse to order from them or head out to the northside to try something else.
