If you're looking for a fine Chicago steak along with great service, this is the place. Across the street from the hotel in which I stayed, this restaurant was an inviting place to try and I'm glad I did. The service was very attentive and the steak cooked to a medium rare perfection. I'll definitely visit this restaurant again on my next visit to Chicago.
Last review was for a different location. My beef (no pun intended) is not with the food, which was still really good. The store was busy, but not overly so. There were 3 young ladies taking orders at the counter. However, they seemed more content to just talk with each other. I finally had to ask if I could order something. This should not happen. The guys at the counter to pick up the food, however, were more animated and friendly, which helped some. This should have been at least a 4 star review. I hope it was just an off night.
Great food! Nice wine list and very friendly vibe. Open for lunch too! Funky soups, great steaks and very convenient location in the Loop just steps away from shopping, work, and State Street!

Very good. We chose it for the location next to the theater but it was nice to see they weren't resting on their laurels and relying on the location for business.
It ended up being very convenient. We parked in a parking garage, walked upstairs, and it was in the same building, then the theater was right across the street.
We were seated right away and ordered a bottle of wine. We got the roasted beet appetizer with ricotta cheese fritters, I recommend it, good presentation, excellent flavors.
I got a caesar salad, it was good, but over dressed. The wife got french onion soup which was good.
I got a 8 oz tenderloin, oscar style. The steak was good, the crab on top was good, the hollandaise was broiled after topping the steak so it was browned on top and a little thick, it was fine except there wasn't much of it. It was all on a raft of asparagus, which were completely bland and unseasoned. The caesar salad had good flavor, just too much dressing, a minor miss. The asparagus was the one true failure of the meal. Why not salt & oil the asparagus and grill it? It was boiled with no salt, no seasoning, no anything (and because of the low volume of hollandaise you couldn't use the sauce to season it).
My wife got a special which was a 6oz filet with bacon and blue cheese, potatoes and broccolini, she said everything was good.
I also got a side of buttery yukon gold potatoes, they were good, homemade style with chunks, executed well but not the hardest thing in the world to execute.
For dessert we had a molten chocolate cake, good, but not spectacular.
All told the service was excellent, the steaks were excellent (my medium steak was perfectly medium, not overcooked at all, yet served piping hot, the location was perfect, some of the sides fell short, but on balance we definitely walked away pleased.
The Grillroom changed my life. My wife and I wandered into the Grillroom one evening after dark. We couldnt make up our minds where to go and we literally stumbled upon the place. The service was very attentive. Before dinner I ordered the mango caipirinha, which i'd never heard of previously. It immediately became my Go-To drink, it was delicious. I now have to make special runs to the one liquor store in the Cincinnati area that carries both Cachaca and mango puree. It was the signature drink at our wedding reception. Yeah, its that good!
The onion soup was tasty. The steaks were prepared to the proper temperature. The signature sauce was just about the best I've had in town. My wife still raves about it to this day.
I can see how some reviewers state the price is a tad high. But isnt that the case at all steakhouses? And while i was surprised reading about the review that had Tilapia served, refired and reserved to him i had to wonder why on earth anyone would order (or serve) Tilapia at a higher end restaurant. Very odd. I dont recommend bottom feeder fish on menus above $10.99
Nice dinner but a bit pricey?. Had a group of 7 pre-theatre, and everyone enjoyed their dinners. The salads were plentiful and dressing not too heavy. Four of us had beef (three small filets, one porterhouse) with a topping, and all were cooked as ordered except the special porterhouse which was medium well instead of medium rare! Sides of spinach, broccoli and baked potato were generous. Four of us had fish which was tasty as well. We also had 2 nice bottles of Carneros Pinot Noir for $60 a bottle. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Great steakhouse, but the bill was $66 a person including gratuity and a $20 Open Table coupon, which led some of us to say it was pricey.
Our server, Alex, really lacked social skills. He did not make conversation, respond to "Thank You" or interact with us at all other than to take our order and drop off our food. He never told us about any dinner specials, and we had already ordered when we overheard a nearby server explaining the specials to their guests. He never offered us coffee or dessert, only dropped off the check. This definitely soured our 30th anniversary dinner. The food was excellent, other than the French onion soup. It arrived as a bowl of broth with a large bread roll soaking in it, and very little cheese....yet the people at the next table had a bowl of the same soup with plenty of gooey cheese melted over the top. I will say the carbonara was the BEST I've ever had and my husband's steak was cooked to perfection.
Wow! Beet salad was excellent. Brussels sprouts were as good as I have ever had. Marvin the bartender, has a perfect Chicago pour-on martini.
Perfect place to grab a bite before heading to the theater across the street. Staff was very attentive and pleasant. Food was just what the doctor ordered, the oysters Rockefeller and lamb chops are a must. Dirty martinis weren't to shabby either.
First visit. Food was terrific. Great service too
I have eaten here multiple times. The food is always delicious. The service is impeccable. I can’t say enough nice things about how wonderful this restaurant is. When your dining inside the music is fabulous, the atmosphere is amazing. The decor is beautiful. It’s elegant while still comfortable. This is my go to whenever am in the neighborhood for a show or any other reason. It’s a destination all on its own as well.
My girlfriend and came here to celebrate getting new jobs. Excellent choice. The staff out friendly, respectable, professional. The atmosphere is on point good music, good lighting. The food is great. If you like white wine try the Riesling. I had the steak salad. Very nice.
The place is right infront of Hampton Inn Hotel. So, it made it very easy for guests to find this place .
I am satisfied with the entrée I’ve ordered .
Pork chop grill 10/10- tasty, soft and flavorful. It comes with smash potatoes and green beans which is crunchy and good .
The servers are so nice and friendly.
I've been here twice now and both times were absolutely phenomenal. Their food is great (recommend the seafood gumbo to anyone!) and their service is top-tier. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is great. The waiters even gave me a slice of key lime pie for my birthday! Overall, nothing bad to say about this place; everything has been wonderful and I will be back again!
Sausage and Peppers are fantastic. They bask in a cayenne pepper sauce. The pasta is good and the filet migon is very tender and tasty. Worth a try if your in the area.
Really great steak. Cooked to perfection. The shrimp was good, but probably won't get them again. Fantastic Brussels sprouts too. Only negative was our waiter checked up on us once and then we didn't see him again until we asked for the check. Not to ask us about dessert, not to see if we wanted anything else. Just kinda vanished.
