Review Russian Tea Time - Chicago

Serena Garner
I went here on a Thursday night after going to the art institute. I was feeling a little under the weather and thought some borscht would help me feel better! The borscht was outstanding. The cabbage roll with kasha was very simple and delicious. The horseradish vodka was so good that I bought a bottle to take home! I slept like a baby and woke up perfectly well! My server was so nice and helpful. I hope to go back on a future visit.

Honestly, this place is amazing. We got the queen tea service with both savories and sweets for $69 and it was stellar. It was an incredible value for two diners WITH tea and we were extremely satisfied with the amount of food! Excellent Ukrainian lagers available as well and fun cocktails, and awesome service, this place has it all!

Russian Tea Time was a fantastic and fun experience. The food was delicious, atmosphere and decor lovely. The infused vodkas also great! We got the Russian Tea Time Platter for two which features a sampling of some of their best sides, entrees and vegetables, highly recommend.

I guess it’s sort of an iconic spot to go before hitting anything at Symphony Center. Lives up for that status for sure. Food - be prepared to try something new and weird. We got the caviar service and some traditional mains. Drink - really interesting menu, specializes in vodka and wish I could’ve handled more on that front. I would stick with simple cocktails, wine, and their vodka service. Service - excellent! Quick and attentive.

Cute eatery idea with delicious assortment of European food and great service. The servers were on top of it with timely service, etc. Vegetarian friendly with well marked options. The vegetarian assortment platter is fantastic for a variety of tasty vegetable spreads. The Beet Crepe with mushrooms is amazing. Their desserts are

The food was really good and the tea sandwiches. We did the queen service whic comes with more items such as crepes. We did a walk-in at 4pm and got seated right away. When we were leaving, the restaurant was packed so luckily we got there early. We also brought our 1 year old, I don't think they had high chairs so we left her in the stroller. They had a nice variety of kids items and we got her buttered pasta with cheese. They do have a baby changing station in the restroom which is convenient if you're a mom like me 😊. The service got slower once more people arrived but it was overall a nice experience for afternoon tea.

I loved the place, especially because of its ambiance, very cozy and warm place, I had a feeling that I was in an art gallery and taking tea. House tea and Napoleon cake were really good, potato daplings I guess could be better though service was excellent. Next time, I would like try tea set with 'samovar'. And I loved their classic music selection.

Great place to experience former USSR culture and food. We enjoy the atmosphere and great selection of menu as well as tea time platters. Very clean, white tablecloth and great service. We had a wonderful time. Great cakes and desserts The server even brought a cake for our birthday girl with candle so we could celebrate 🎉

Beautiful little restaurant hidden away in the loop. The pictures don't do it justice, you feel like you've stepped back in time to a more elegant era. The afternoon tea service was delicious, the savory sandwiches were especially good. Also really enjoyed the house tea. It was a smooth black tea with fruity overtones, I think blackcurrant. It comes in a glass cup, which looks smaller than the teapots, but they come around and provide refills!

Came here for a friends birthday and it did not disappoint. We were a bigger group so they gave us a private area to enjoy the tea, snacks and dishes without being too loud or overbearing to other diners. The staff was excellent and took time to help us with questions and make recommendations. The food was amazing and filling. There is something here for everyone. Horseradish vodka is a must!

Great food and wine. We ordered the sample platter for two. Stuffed cabbage and meatballs were delicious as were the beet salads. Exceptional service and very pretty interior. I recommend it! Try the cranberry infused vodka shot.

Whenever I'm in Chicago for a few days, I do my best to eat here. When the menu starts by teaching you the proper steps for enjoying a shot of vodka, you know the place is the real deal.

Russian Tea Time Restaurant is the best place for lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner before or after a show downtown, and has been for 24 years! My favorites: Ukrainian Borschch, Meat Blinchiki, Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, Beef Stroganoff, pelmeni, varyeniki.... heck, everything here is delicious! Their vegetarian selections of salads and stews are so amazing and scrumptious that, were I a vegetarian, I could eat here every day. Did I mention the Russian Tea? Black currant flavored nectar of the gods. And The desserts?!? Wow. Try them all.... Love RTT!!

This place is a Chicago must if you visit the city. Authentic Eastern European Cuisine and atmosphere makes me feel like I am overseas. The portions are also amazing, you will leave full. I recommend the borscht and pelmeni.

Afternoon tea; it was very disappointing. The food was mediocre and we left 2/3 of it uneaten. It was disappointing that the waiter never asked us how it was despite seeing the abundance of untouched food. Won’t eat here again.

Amazing food. Was on a walk with a friend to visit an entirely different restaurant but we passed the Russian Tea Time along the way. Could not leave Chicago without going in for the duck. Amazing service. Friendly staff. Get the house vodka flight and you won't regret it. My only disappointment is that we'll be leaving the city and can't visit again for some time.

Had never tried Russian food before, but it was amazing! Definitely give it a try! The restaurant is beyond elegant, and the staff is so polite. Five stars!

Always an enjoyable experience at Russian Tea Time. Great place to dine before attending concerts at Symphony Center (right around the corner). Very good service, wonderful food and atmosphere.

We had a wonderful time dining at Russian Tea Time during our visit to Chicago. Our server did an excellent job of directing us towards menu items that we loved. The restaurant was clean, service and food were wonderful, and we had fun trying the house infused vodkas.

First time here and was not disappointed. Food was fantastic, cocktails were great and our server was very attentive and helped us with our selections Can’t wait to go back.

Every time I visit Chicago I come here. Always excellent food and service. Their tea is superb! They sell it as tea bags and loose tea. This past visit I had the Lamb Samsa and Beef Stroganoff. Both were fantastic. Three other people in our party had the Russian Herring and they all agreed it was excellent. You can't go wrong here. A must visit restaurant in Chicago.
