A Chicago classic restaurant. THE best place to get the freshest seafood in the Midwest. Definitely a restaurant to go and share all the food with great friends.
The clam chowder was served in a warm, cute jar with large bits of clam. The lobster roll was served on a super buttery, soft bread. The rainbow trout was so velvety and melted in your mouth. The seafood cavatelli pasta had so much flavor and perfectly paired well with the shrimp, squid, mussels, and clams.
The pumpkin cheesecake and the Apple galette were so delicious; we would’ve gotten seconds if we weren’t so full.
I am absolutely in love with this place! I ordered the crab cake, oysters, and had lobster roll + black truffle and mussels as my entrees.
My favorite were definitely the crab cake and lobster roll. I am so in love with the pickled cauliflower it came with. The texture of the cake was phenomenal. It has that thick and rich flavor, and crispy texture on the outside. Adding the sauces it came on the side, and a bit of the pickled cauliflower as a palette cleanser definitely won it for me!
The lobster roll was just dynamite. I added the black truffle because I’m simply obsessed with truffle, and I was lost for words of how good this dish was.
Overall, I will come back to this place when I visit Chicago again!
100% recommend. We are in Chicago celebrating our honeymoon and wanted a good seafood dinner. Put in a reservation for 7:30, got there a bit early, and they seated us right away. The food, staff, and cocktails were phenomenal. The GM Max gave us such a personal experience and our server Alex was extremely attentive. Make sure you get the octopus, oysters, and key lime pie. You will not regret your choice!
This place is absolutely incredible. We came here to celebrate our 8th anniversary and could not have picked a better place!
The food was phenomenal and the service was the best we've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection and the servers were incredibly attentive and helpful.
Thank you so much an amazing experience!

Not pictured but was also amazing: Tuna Crudo (starter) Black Sazerac (drink) and Key Lime Pie with Coconut Sorbet (dessert)
Very friendly and helpful staff. Seafood was outstanding. Oyster variety of British Columbia, New Brunswick and Cape Cod was delicious and informative. Best octopus dish I have enjoyed…Perfectly prepared with yogurt and fresh beets. Salmon prepared with crisp skin and vey pink center as I requested and enjoy. Complemented food with a smooth Oregon Chardonnay that had right touch of oak. Lively but quiet enough for a conversation. Very cool and functional “boomerang” table in bar area
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at GT Fish & Oyster as we had always heard great things about the place, but finally decided to check it out for the special occasion. We had started off with six oysters and the clam chowder. The oysters were fresh, but unfortunately a bit small. The clam chowder was great, and they can split it into two bowls which was convenient.
For the main courses we had the fish and chips, mussels, and roasted broccoli. Overall, the food was good, nothing spectacular, also $$$, and I would skip the broccoli...but the service is where this place really shines. Our waitress was phenomenal, always making sure to check in with us to see if we needed anything or how was the food was. She was even kind enough to bring us celebratory bubbles which was awesome. Would I come back? Yes, but next time I would try and come back for their happy hour or brunch.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at GT! Their oysters were fantastic. Had 2 choices from easy coast, 2 from west coast. The clam chowder was outstanding. We shared the lobster mac, mussels, and the seafood pasta. Highly recommend all 3. Great cocktails and solid wine list. Indoor decor is cozy and tables are well spaced. 5 stars
Came here for Valentine’s Day and only available seating was at the bar but it was so worth it. We had an awesome time chatting with one of the female bartenders and all of our food was to die for! Can’t wait to come back.
The crab cake will change your life. This is five stars. Not much of an oyster guy, but even those were amazing. Everything, food, drinks, service professionals, ambiance, all good. This establishment was firing on all cylinders that night.
Great, innovative seafood dishes, outstanding drinks, nice desserts and some of the best and most expensive clam chowder I’ve ever had. The decor is understated and the servers were top notch but this place is not cheap. I’ll definitely be back.
By far the best meal we had in Chicago. 5 stars DO NOT do our experience justice. From the service, to the atmosphere and attention to detail GT is in a category of it’s own. The Mussels were absolutely incredible ! We don’t normally do desert but glad we did……ridiculously good. Thanks CT and all the staff, please open in Toronto soon !!!!
My review is for brunch; the chilaquiles were quite good, bloody mary as well. I was seated alone in an empty area, which was kind of nice and bad at the same time.
Interior has interesting decorations. I did not try any oysters!
My husband and I came for Valentine’s Day weekend dinner and it did not disappoint! Every course was incredible. We ordered oysters and crab claws for starters. Branzino and trout for main. Branzino here was the best I’ve ever had. For dessert we got the key lime pie and beignets. 10/10. Will 100% come back and am excited to try the other GTs.
GT Fish & Oyster is and will always be one of the BEST brunch spots in Chicago. There food is outstanding!! I’m personally a favorite of Chicken and Waffles.... they have the best in the city. No joke.
Great experience as always with Boka Group. Everything was outstanding. The crab cake was expensive but incredible and well worth it.
Amazing food and service!
Cheers to this establishment and GM Jasmine Perales,
And in particular Bryan who went above and beyond to give great service. Prior to coming, I spoke to GM Perales who generously offered to make the Birthday weekend special for my wife and group. We arrived on a really busy Valentines evening and was a bit concerned with the wait as my young adult kids had another venue to visit this All Star Weekend. Cue to Brian who basically took over from very pleasant Ethan and assured us we would enjoy great food, service and be on time. Sure enough as soon as we were seated, treats started coming over with a round of Champaign and nice spring bruchetta appetizer on the house.
The meals were exquisite, the winner being the scallops in a cauliflower puré and zucchini. The gnocchi was a close second. Just as we thought the meal couldn’t get better, we got the desserts that literally “takes the cake” here!! Amongst the chocolate cake, cheesecake and carrot cake (all given with homemade sorbet), the carrot cake really took the cake- carrot cake on top of whipped cream cheese icing with vanilla sorbet ice cream. BTW Bryan very generously paid for one of our desserts which is really rare and is a sign of an exceptional restaurant and staff when this is done (we tipped as if everything was included). So delicious were the desserts , they should win an award!! Would highly recommend coming here for the food, service, and especially the deserts!!!
My complements to GM Perales and her staff. She came around frequently to check on us. GM Jasmine and Bryan YOU ROCK!!!
4 of us went for restaurant week. I ordered the special restaurant week menu with the tuna, clam chowder, pork belly, and key lime pie. I love key lime pie and it did not disappoint! The pork was also delicious. Overall the food was phenomenal, cocktails delicious, and the service was fantastic. I would definitely recommend!
This place is good, but no where as good as GT prime. I would have given 5 stars but waited long to be seated even with a reservation. And they were out of 2 of the desserts we wanted.
Service was incredible, we were presented with bubbles on arrival and a dessert to finish us off in celebration of our engagement. Every dish shined (though I would miss the rainbow trout next time). The octopus and hummus starter and the crab cakes were particular standouts.
