So on the last day in Chicago we went here. Dave a great friend family member recommended to try before we left. Everyone was really nice. Atmosphere was very nice chill laid back. Had some great beers and a wonderful pretzel with a delicious cheese dip (not the cheap nacho type). Seating outside was nice comfortable and very spacious. We were able to keep all of our bags inside before heading to the airport l. Great drinks great people lovely place! Try for yourself!!!
Whenever I want to get my husband out of the house, I say “Let’s go to Hopleaf.” I feel so comfortable in there and I love the beers and the food. This peach cake dessert thing I have pictured here? Amazing. I’ve been for lunch and dinner and always find something I’m in the mood for. I love the posters and decor inside, and it’s a great place to take visitors!
Huge menu & restaurant, great aoili, and lots of global draft beers 🍻
Got the fried maitake, brussel sprouts with dill yogurt, Reuben and cb&j
Food is normal pub food, nothing crazy
You order & pay at the bar. Service is fantastic
If you have never been to Hopleaf, make it a destination! The food menu is anything but bar food. We had the charcuterie board and the shiitake mushrooms, and they were perfect! And the beer list is second to none in Chicago. Hopleaf is like a Belgian bar original. And if you get lucky enough to meet your host and founder, Michael and Louise, get ready for a history lesson on Belgian beers and Chicago. This place is spectacular!
Excellent beer selection, delicious food, great service. My first trip to Chicago in a long time and this was a perfect reintroduction to the city
Wide beer selection including Belgian beers. Wide selection of wines. Reasonable varied gastro pub menu. Lively vibe and a beautiful patio.
The ambiance takes me back to Europe. The selection of the ciders, beers, and wines are phenomenal. All the dishes on the menu are good drinking food. The dessert, Orchard Cake, was not my cup of tea. It was served warm and personally, I think there’s too much going on. The plating was also a bit underwhelming but the server took it out of our tab.
This is one of the finest restaurants in Chicago. I've been going for years, and there's just so much that's great about it, it's hard to cover it all.
The food is superb. There was a time I think it might have been the finest high end food around for the best price. Unfortunately, cost has caught up with quality, but it's still worth it.
The atmosphere is what keeps bringing me back. No televisions, comfortable seating, wonderful lighting in the evening, and an excellent patio.
Try anything, but first try their signature mussels.
What a wonderful Gastropub. Hopleaf takes both their food and drinks seriously. They have 2 bar counters and 1 main dining room. I chose to eat at the dining room and it was a great choice because the wood burning firebox added greatly to the atmosphere and filled the room with a great cedar scent. The waitstaff and front of house were really nice and knowledgeable.
The pear and radish salad was absolutely wonderful. Well balanced in flavor profile with a pleasant acidity.
The brisket Rueben was good but the fries left a bit to be desired (I’m not a thin fry guy)
The German apple cake was fantastic and a great treat.
Pricing was very reasonable. 1 drink, 1 salad, 1 sandwich and a dessert with 22% tip came to $65
Braised endive was the highlight of the meal, it was very flavorful and surprisingly fulfilling. The mussels portion is on the small side, it’s fresh, but a little under seasoned, and the frites are soggy.
Great service! Very attentive and friendly. Also love atmosphere!
