The Chicago Dinner is a true veggie delight! From the diverse menu to the cozy ambiance, it's a top-tier choice for vegetarians. The Wild Mushroom Risotto is a must-try, bursting with umami goodness. The commitment to local, sustainable ingredients is commendable. The staff is attentive and passionate, enhancing the dining experience. While not the most budget-friendly, the value is justified. The dessert selection could be more diverse, but overall, it's a haven for plant-based gastronomy in the heart of the Windy City.

It was our first time visiting on Sat, Oct. 28, and we enjoyed everything. (It was worth every minute of the 2 hour walk from Millennium Station to the Lakeview/Boytown location). The food was yummy. Service was great, fast, and friendly. They warned us of the 20% gratuity added automatically, when we were seated. Bonus: We enjoyed seeing the staff's Halloween costumes and loved watching neighborhood kids in their costumes coming in to get candy every few mins. The food: A brunch item, the cinnamon roll French toast, was superb. The gyro was fantastic...they cooked the handcut fries just the way I like them. The chocolate pumpkin cheesecake (a seasonal item) was scrumptious. And I am still daydreaming about that fabulous chocolate shake. I can't wait to go back to try more.

Wow! I’m highly satisfied with this place. We ordered so many things off the menu everything was so delicious and did my body right! I highly recommend this place for some good clean eating vegan food. EVERYTHING was delicious. Was worth the hour Drive and hour traffic. It’s a diner so the atmosphere is a diner atmosphere. It was really loud in there and I enjoy a more peaceful setting. That would not stop me from dining in. I had a great experience with great customer service. Food came out hot and fresh too. I love, love, love, they use seitan as a vegan protein it’s one of the top 3 healthiest proteins to use along with mushrooms, veggies, chickpeas, and beans. We tried: Country fried Steak with potatoes and Vegetables Chili with Quinoa Thai Chili Wings Cheese Fries Gyro Cinnamon Bun And none of it was shy of anything all goodness. Wow (I have to always put this disclaimer I meditate a lot and is in tune with my mind, body, and spirit and keeps me on the highest vibrations and I always have the best experiences because of that) Street parking you have to pay for so keep that in mind. Also for heavy users of soy. I use my body for my research. So these statements are something to consider if you find yourself having these symptoms. that soy and dairy is linked to multiple cancers…endocrine disorders, infertility, breast cancer in both men and women, soy contains high levels of phytic acids which withdraw nutrients when processed by your body. Soy is harmful to children. Please do your research. Listen to your body that is the best research. When you get done eating you should not feel bad with gas, stomach cramps, tiredness, irritability, headaches, inflammation in muscles and joints. For those who eat Dairy, it causes mucus and inflammation in the body as does soy… that’s why you always having running noses, sneezing, allergies, and any disease in the body. Let’s create a world that eat healthy foods that’s good for the mind, body, and soul. Chicago Diner is paving the way! Wholeness and Love Always! These photos don’t do justice as I was so excited and eating everything and yes I ate most by myself. I only eat once every 24hrs.

A coworker recommended this place to me as a visiting vegan. It was great! We ordered the chicken parm, Cuban, and reuben for food. We also ordered three shakes - pumpkin pie, mint chocolate chip, and chocolate peanut butter. We all loved our meals, even the non-vegans. I had the Cuban and it was really flavorful and hearty. Between the peppers, cheese, and seitan, it had a really good combo of sour, salty, savory flavors. The textures were great as well. Everything you'd hope for in a Cuban! I wish I could go back tonight!

Finally made it to this vegetarian/vegan restaurant. I got the chicken fried steak. My friend got the mushroom loaf. The mushroom loaf was great! It was super fantastic. I thought my chicken fried steak was way too hard. It was really tuff. It had good flavor. It was crunchy on the ouside but hard on the inside. I'd never order it again. The veggies and mashed potatoes were really good. I tried the peanut butter puck for dessert. That was good! I'll go back sometime and try other menu items. This is a really neat place.

Had the Portobello prime burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was delicious with great umami flavors, fresh produce, and this savory crunchy topping over the burger. The fries were probably the best sweet potato fries I've had, all wonderfully crisped outside soft inside. Really blown away by how creamy the hot chocolate was. Gratuity is included; they use a handheld paperless checkout device. Everyone was very chill and friendly, loved the warm, even if a bit loud (for my ND ears), community atmosphere the Chicago Diner embodies.

Anyone would love this. It's cute, quaint and gives off that artistic vibe. I was promised over 8 years ago before moving to Florida that I would get to go here. Back on a visit to Chicago, and WOW, absolutely amazed. The food was delicious, from the coconut curry, the the Reuben and the portobello mushroom melt. The pumpkin cheesecake special was ok, nothing to write home about.

A must visit if you're a vegan heading to Chicago or if you want great tasting food and extremely friendly staff. Everything is made vegan by deafult which I absolutely loved because I knew I could have anything the menu offered The spinach artichoke dip was simply the best. I'm literally still craving it. I also asked for a recommendation on what entree to try and I was not disappointed with the Reuben. Portion sizes were big, I had leftovers for the next day. Location is great, 20mim subway ride from downtown and if you're hitting up a Cubs game it's a super short walk to the stadium.

I thought this place was cool! I really loved the vibes and the service. They’re entirely a vegan restaurant (although they have a few dairy cheese options) and the gratuity is automatically included (but you can leave extra, too!). I had the Reuben, a pumpkin milkshake and the wings, which were all pretty good.

Went here straight after arriving from London, jetlagged and grumpy. Both the greeter and server were really friendly, kind, and helpful with our questions. Our server in particular was lovely, and even recognised us when we went back on our last day in Chicago! Genuinely great customer service, tasty food and a relaxed fun atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time we're in town!

Just moved to town this November and been looking for a great vegan restaurant. This place did not let me down. The food was incredible. I just wanted to keep eating everything. Can’t wait to come back to try the dessert.

I would recommend their dishes that have vegan meats (such as seitan) over the others. The Thai chili wings and both sandwiches tasted great, but we weren’t fans of the pancakes. Thai chili wings - tough, steak-like seitan strips with a light breading and sesame. Not spicy at all. It tasted delicious, light teriyaki-like flavoring on the seitan flavor. Philly cheesesteak - WOW. Forget the cheese and vegetables, the seitan in the cheesesteak was the real star. Tender and flavorful in each bite. The fries with it were thin cut and crispy and not overly seasoned.

My first ever vegan diner. Quite tasty and didn't miss meat. Very friendly staff as well. Dessert options looked good though we didn't try any as we were stuffed. Gratuity is added automatically which is nice.but it's not included in the prices. I would have preferred that. Also they do add another tip line in the end which can be confusing. It should be about clearer and just included in the price.

The Chicago Diner is superb. I think most of the food here is great. They are well known for their Reuben and shakes. I have also had jalapeño poppers here that were phenomenal. I think when you come here you can really count on delicious food that considers flavor and texture, that happens to be vegan. I would absolutely recommend.

My husband and I shared desserts here: a cinnamon roll and a banana cream pie milkshake. The whole menu is vegan which is wonderful for a lactose intolerant person like me! Both desserts were excellent. Our server was very nice and friendly as well. The seating is limited so it's a good idea to make reservations. Thanks for the great desserts!
