The food was delicious and portions were very generous. The waiting staff were extremely friendly and quick to take care of your request. I would definitly come back again.

Great social bar, white tavern cloth dining and several party rooms. Great and tasty Pesto angel Hair Pasta. Can't wait to come back. Maybe my new neighborhood place.

Spur of the moment trip to D.C. and wanted something not "cookie cutter". The food and portions were fantastic and the prices were more than reasonable. I will definitely eat there again.
This is a great retro classic place to go for singles as well as families because the regulars are like family and, by the second time you visit, everyone knows your name. Dining alone is fun and there is wifi and ample workspace. The candlelit tables by the windows are quiet and romantic while offbeat entertainment or lively conversations can be found in the bar or in the other rooms.
The Spumoni is excellent. They handmake it. Also try the tortellini.

Food is a *bit* basic, and the wine list is pretty limited. Music on Saturday night is nice, though they add an entertainment charge to the check for it. Unfortunately, happy hour offers are limited to the bar so you can't watch the band and do happy hour (though you can probably still somewhat hear them).
Idk atmosphere as I was first customer of the day but it’s a lovely Spot salmon was Fantastic homemade bread every thing was perfect
Delicious, quick and filling. Not the absolute best but definitely one of my favorites. Been there for a long time and that’s for a reason.
It is always a pleasure eating at Alfio's. My only regret is that in spite of the fact that I walked past it for many years during my weekday walks to and from the subway, I didn't "discover" it until shortly before I moved away from the area, clear across the country.

REAL ITALIAN AT IT'S BEST!!
I had a craving for authentic Italian cuisine, so I decided to take a step back into time to a restaurant that I used to visit in the 90's and it was as if time had been standing still. The love that Alfio's La Trattoria puts into each and every meal is like no other and each bite leaves you wanting more. I could have gone to a chain restaurant, but I wanted the best and that is exactly what I got. After all, they have been providing the best of the best in Italian cuisine for well over 60 years and that is just something that no chain restaurant can compete with.
My chicken Alfredo was just as I remembered... pleasing to the palate and the perfect harmony of noodles, sauce and chicken. I accompanied it with a few pieces of bruschetta and out of nowhere, I found myself kissing the tips of my fingers.
I wanted to share the experience, so I also picked up chicken parmesan and minestrone soup and was told that the chicken parmesan was the best that they had ever tasted. There was even mention of something about the preparation of the spaghetti noodles and how there was some type of oil on them that gave it an extra oomph.
The portions are large and the union of flavors cannot to duplicated.
If and when you are in the Chevy Chase area and have a craving for authentic Italian, look no further than Alfio's La Trattoria.
This place is a hidden gem. My husband got the stuff cannioli and he ate it up so quick. I had the chicken parmigiana. Let me tell you this chicken parm was full of delicious flavor. It was a little dead so it felt cozy at the dinning area. They have happy hour specials at the bar and a menu with good options. The salad was delicious as well. One of the best vinagretas I’ve had. We ordered a tiramisu for dessert. Let me warn you. Don’t share it. I could eat two after dinner lol. We will be back again. The service was also good. The lady was attentive enough but also gave us space to enjoy our meal and have a wonderful conversation. Thank you for the great food and service.
Lovely place for live music. Get the prosciutto rolls, eggplant parm, and spumoni ice cream.
Italian American food done well. The veal parmigiana is quite good. The meatballs are nicely meaty not bready. Fried zucchini in little disks are tasty. The mozzarella in carroza is memorable. The fried calamari is fair but could be better. Beautiful interior with a historic theme. This place deserves to be full nightly.
Came here on vacation, the interior is insteresting to look at so it gives you something to do while you wait the not very long time for your good food. Salad bar anyone? I’d be happy to come back and try something different. The only complaint was that every few servings, the ice cream tasted like cardboard.

I've been going to Alfio's off and on for about 20 years, but hadn't been in quite a while. I thought it would be worth it to check out whether the food was still good, and decided to come with my father...
Suffice to say, the food is quite tasty. I had the eggplant parmigiana, which was wonderful in that it was lightly fried, but not overdone. The salad bar is varied, with a multitude of options to choose from. Additionally, the wait staff is friendly and prompt. The chocolate mousse cake was definitely the highlight.
After coming here, I can honestly say that I plan on coming here over a few of the other places that I having been eating at over the past few years. I was glad to have checked it out after so long.
The tomato sauce is our of this world. We gonna be back for sure.
The lasagna was awesome. It felt like a hug which is exactly what I need right now. The driver forgot the chocolate mouse cake so I'm pretty bummed about that since I can't leave my apartment right now. Was hoping for a nice dessert for the weekend. Thank you for a nice lasagna though! I recommend it!
