Meech & Munch

Decided to try this place after a long hike. They didn’t have a ton of gluten & dairy free options but really enjoyed their Gatineau park salad. My girlfriend got the runners club sandwich & the French onion. She loooved the French onion soup. Definitely would recommend - just wish they had a few more options for me !

Went for lunch date. Had a sangria rosé and Stella beer with chicken tacos with onion rings and chipotle mayo and club sandwich with fries and aïoli mayo. Everything was divine from start to finish. The ambiance on the patio was nice, and the decor. Prices are very affordable. The only negative comments was the construction noises next door but that's not their fault and the fact that the garbage bins are visible from the patio. Could use a privacy wall. But would still go back. What a nice discovery right in our backyard.

Can’t even comment on the food we never made it in. Showed up at 20:20 for dinner on a friday night. First look from the hostess as she approached implied « Why are these people arriving this late for dinner ». We are told the wait time is 45-60 minutes without a reservation. We say we will wait. We are told the kitchen closes at 21:00. So why offer for us to wait in the first place? We notice many open tables out and inside. These are apparently « reserved ». Seems odd many tables are reserved for patrons who have yet to arrive between 20:20 and 21:00 when the kitchen closes ? A couple arrives after us. We chitchat with them. They don’t have a reservation. They are shown to a table immediately. We ask how they got in? The hostess says that they had a reservation. Yet another lie.She quickly corrects and says that they are family friends. The slippery slope of questionable excuses continues. We are subsequently told that the chef is very upset and won’t serve anyone else. Apparently their food stock did not come in for the day. Again odd given that they were able to run a full service up to 8:30 PM and suddenly they are completely out of food for us. They could only serve us green salads at this point. We are four intelligent people. We all felt like we were not valued customers. All permutations of this story sounded very questionable to us. The point of this review is not to trash this restaurant. In fact Im sure one part of their story is true. But there’s no doubt we were lied to. We live in the region and could be returning customers. We are out on a Friday night to support the struggling restaurant industry. Very disappointing.

Really disappointing experience. Wanted to try Meech and Munch since the opening and finally made it on a Sunday night. I’ve ordered the fish tacos with soup. The fish was dry, the salsa lacked flavour. My husband ordered Caesar and the salad was rotten and didn’t taste good. We had to pay for the salad but got free fries. The service was ok, the restaurant was half empty as it was a Sunday night. The best was the Caesar drink I got.

Arrived just after opening, the food was not fresh. Ordered salmon, and as I'm writing this review, my stomach is churning... Very limited beer selection, the wine list is good but I was served opened day or two old wine... I expect a fresh glass when paying a marked up price! They lost my business this early in the snow season, I will bring my business elsewhere.
