Absolutely loved it. As a group we got the pork tacos, cheddar and bacon soup, American burger, duck burger, and gyro sandwich. Everything was delicious! Seriously the best place we all agreed we have eaten in a long time. The manager was there and was very involved and kind. The waiter we had was wonderful and was checking on us just enough and talking to us about each dish to help us choose. I will definitely be back!
Happened upon this glorious establishment during our excursion down to Atlanta and damn if it wasn’t one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten.
The duck burger topped with sriracha goat cheese and cherry compote was so insanely delicious, it took every ounce of self-control to not reenact the diner scene in When Harry Met Sally. Frankly, I’d like to eat here again without the waitstaff muttering, “Oh shit. The weird lady is back.” They will anyway and I won’t hold it against them.
Additionally, I’m gonna need a swimming pool full of those goat cheese mashed potatoes, STAT. Because how dare any mashed potatoes have the nerve to be anything other than those mashed potatoes. All mashed potatoes have posters of these mashed potatoes on their walls, I guarantee it.
Finally, our server Liz was awesome. Give her a raise. Possibly two. Also John was freaking awesome too. Double high-five for steady refills and for being a good sport. I’d make it a triple, but sadly, I don’t have enough hands for that.
My only regret is that we live two hours away and cannot visit regularly. But it will be mandatory to eat here every time we’re in town.
Seriously though. Go here. Eat the food. I insist.

PS. Didn’t get to try the libations (surprisingly enough), but I’m sure those are awesome, too. Next time, for suresies.
Let me tell you, we could not get into the place we were going but decided to have an adventure on finding a place to eat. We won the jackpot on a new great place to visit when visiting Chattanooga. Great food and service... go and visit our new friends at Beast and Barrel!
Beast + Barrel is the perfect place to go for some great food and wonderful service. Especially when your bartender is Justin! Y’all, he makes some great drinks! Also, their seared tuna is amazing! I get it each time I come. 10/10 would recommend.
Sam was a great waiter!!! He has a wonderful sense of humor!! “Is it $8. For each beer in The flight:)” The food was delicious!!! I Loved the smoked duck!!
Had the peach French toast casserole and it was fantastic. I got a side of fruit which came with pineapple and I’m allergic. Our waitress, Elizabeth, graciously took it back and returned with fruit that she assured had never touched pineapple. She was absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable. The food was so amazing, enhanced by the atmosphere and the kind staff. 10/10 would eat here again.
My husband and I visited Chattanooga yesterday and went to Beast + Barrel on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed!!! Our server Derek was great — attentive and engaging, and offered suggestions of things for us to do during our short visit! Then the food came...we shared the pork tacos, ahi tuna, beef sliders, and pulled pork fries (I forget the actual name of it!), and everything was delicious!!! Their house made bbq sauce is delightful, and the slaw that came on top of the fries was as well! It was a wonderful experience overall! Thank you!
Visiting from Grand Cayman/UK, food was top notch, great choice of libations and Sam our server was on the ball with recommendations, great value for money, go visit !
Bloody mary and mimosa bar were great. We enjoyed every bit of our brunch from the french toast casserole to the swwet potato pulled pork bisque and jerky of the day. What a treat. Our barteder from Miss. Made the experience fantastic. Thats for making our 2nd trip to Chattanooga as great as first
This is a modern restaurant and bar with an old school feel and amazing staff. So many times, you find amazing food with an aloof and haughty staff, not here.
The food is outstanding (try the bison meatloaf, with goat cheese whipped potatoes), and the staff keep you feeling welcome and at home. Please try it out. You will thank me.
I’ve been going to beast and barrel at least once a week since it’s opened while I’m in town. Tonight has been such an amazing experience. There is a great bartender (DJ) for the past 4 years I’ve experienced amazing but pretentious mixologist. Which can ruin an experience. DJ was kind, funny, genuine and a great mixologist. DJ should be recognized for his upmost subperb customer service!
A Saturday night was my first experience here, at 8 pm no less. My date and I were immediately seated when we arrived. The server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was phenomenal and worth the money. I have already recommended this restaurant to friends and family. It will definitely earn my business again.

Great restaurant, nicely decorated and the food was quirky and fun although chocolate popcorn was not a winner with my family. The waiter was great, funny and attentive. I’d never met anyone born in Knob Noster before and that’s certainly a great story!
The Bison meatloaf was by far the best meatloaf I've ever had! It was covered in this succulent mushroom gravy with a scoop of goat cheese mashed potatoes & haricot verts. Most meatloafs are over cooked which dries them out. Not this beast, it was hot & tender!
Great place! Loved all the local flavor. Wish more places were this committed to other local businesses and farmers. The bison meatloaf was delicious!
