Devil on Horseback was tremendous! They were kind enough to split the wedge salad that Excellent! The Cod Florintine was an excellent presentation with flavor to match. Seafood Baton Rouge was plentiful with a lot of scallops and shrimp. Just the right amount of heat. Our reservation was for 8:30 but we arrived early, our table was waiting. Very attentive wait staff. We will make this a must stop when in Chatham.
We had dinner there last night, and I ordered the Low Country Shrimp & Scallops. It was so delicious, but I noticed it did not have the pickled okra in it as described in the menu. I mentioned it to our server, Jeremy, that they must have substituted asparagus for the okra. Told him I was from the South (Mississippi) & loved okra. Found out Jeremy was from Memphis,TN, only a short distance from my hometown in Mississippi. Had a brief discussion about okra, fried & pickled! Jeremy was very courteous & friendly. We arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation & they were able to seat us early. This is our second visit there & we look forward to returning.
The best sea food ever!! Our waitress Linda was amazing!! She was sweet and kind and gave us Gide to shopping on Main Street.
Thank you Linda!
Our favorite restaurant on Cape Cod for lunch or diner. We go there often and have never been disappointed.
This face book page needs to be updated to reflect that they are closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for the winter and to change the picture which is of raw oysters as they do not serve raw oysters.
We’ve been here several times for lunch or dinner and it never disappoints. It’s very consistent in food, service and ambiance. It’s a great place and deserving of its kudos!
After many wonderful lunches at this Chatham establishment we finally got a reservation for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. They did not disappoint. First class service from Tara was attentive, but not imposing. She offered sound advice on our entree choices & wine. Our entrees were sublime, a Seafood Addeo & Sole & Seafood Mario. We would never miss a meal here while on the Cape.
A salad isn't just a salad at this place. Terrific rainy afternoon spent eating and drinking and laughing at the bar, with an awesomely attentive server.
The best place to eat not only in Chatham but on the Cape
The food was terrific! Freshest seafood and the entrees were so creative! Great service, warm staff.
Thanks for a great meal!
Best of Chatham. My wife and I have been eating here for 20 summers now, even before we tied the knot. Date nights, family dinners, sitting at the bar for an impromptu dinner with my bride, whatever the occasion there is always time for The Impudent Oyster. Be sure to start your meal with the Oysters Rockefeller.
10 out of 10. Food was delicious from the appetizers to the desserts. The service was outstanding. One of the best meals I've had on Cape Cod. Everyone should try this place!

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, everyone was exceptionally friendly from hostess to waitress Linda . My wife had the Nantucket scallop sandwich and I did the English style fish and chips. Perfectly cooked.
In a word: Yum!! But fb makes me tell more: fresh, flavor, portions, color... not that I am biased or anything!
Wonderful food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, we had a great time!
This little restaurant off Main Street was a big surprise. The mussels were cooked to perfection, no grit or sand, and how they made a simple Caesar salad with shrimp so delicious, I don’t know. I’ll definitely be back!
Phenomenal food!!! Ambience is nice as well! Our waitress was nice and gave a great recommendation! If you are in Chatham, definitely check it out!
We would fly back from Denver for the Seafood Addeo! Tough time deciding as everything looked amazing .. seriously, that good! Quintessential Cape Cod .. cozy and so friendly. Can't wait to return to try some of the other entrees, and from scratch blueberry pie. Impudent Oyster sets the bar high. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
Every meal we've had at the Impudent Oyster has been outstanding. Be sure to have the "Devils on horseback" appetizer, you won't be disappointed.
A favorite restaurant for many years! I have always had a fantastic meal & exceptional service here. I always try one of the seafood specials.
We'd heard good things about this restaurant so we gave it a try. It was excellent. I had the Unioshi Roll Up with a quinoa taboui side. It was heavenly. We will remember this place!
We are dining here in October which is the off season for Cape visitors. My wife and I truly enjoyed the dinning experience. I closed my eyes and felt like I was in Paris France eating the steak au pouve. Delicious!!! My wife ordered swordfish piccatta. She said it was the best swordfish she said she ever tasted. We eat a fair amount of fish on the Cape over the years. The only downside is limited seating, parking and dining space. Come early before 6pm or dine late. The food is five stars.
We love this place for lunch! One of my favorite lobster rolls! It's a generous portion and the meat it chopped up more than other places on the Cape. We also had shrimp po boy, but you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Solid chowder, bang bang shrimp, and beer selection.
We recommend sitting at the bar. Nice ambiance.
Amazing oysters from Orleans, different than Wellfleet which we often get a better restaurants throughout the cape. Highly recommend ✨⭐️🥂
Great food. Not the conventional type of lobster roll but I really liked it. Friends had mussels which looked very plump and juicy. Servings are very generous across all the items we ordered. Didn't have any issues getting a table without reservation for lunch on a weekend.
Impudent Oyster was recommended by a local and it turns out to have been a fantastic recommendation. The butternut soup was A+, best I’ve ever had. Served piping hot and full of flavor. Followed that up with the fish sandwich and home made chips. Died and gone to heaven! Great local sole, toasted buttered role. And I noticed that my mom snagged about half my chips!
Delicious food, pleasant service and atmosphere. Impudent has been around for years and is successful because they deliver a great experience.
Got here just before they closed for lunch on a Friday. Not many people there in the off season but glad they were open. The butternut squash soup was so good I think I inhaled it. I got the special rice noodle salad as my entree and it was good but huge. I also had to try the truffle fries because they sounded so good. They were piping hot and delicious. I also have to throw it out there that they had my favorite brand of fever tree ginger beer to drink as well.
SUPERB restaurant with gracious and professional service, outstanding food and real value. Reservation was honored on time and the food was among the best on the Cape. The Bouillabaisse was so delicious and so generous, I had to take a picture. Among the best meals this year.
October 2023 follow up. This is our third visit in 3 years, and the place is still outstanding, but I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. Three things made the visit slightly less than ideal than in the past. The waitress served our drinks by holding the glasses from the top, with each of her fingers around the rim (not too hygienic). The ceviche appetizer, despite being told it was not "that spicy," was almost uneatable, because of its spiciness. The bathrooms are in need of help (broken paper towel holder, no soap in dispenser and looking like a bathroom in a public building). The rest of the experience is top notch, but those items did not meet expectations.
An incredible dining experience. Had the clam chowder and the pasta carbonara. The chowder had generous amounts of clam and the potatoes were creamy. The pasta had a generous amount of seafood and a lot of pancetta, with a peppery cream sauce. The food was all excellent, and the atmosphere is nice with good furnishings and stained glass from an old church. Would heavily recommend if you're in town.
Several different recommended that I eat at this restaurant while visiting the Cape. It lived up to the hype. I had a very enjoyable experience. We started with a couple appetizers - devils on horseback (bacon wrapped scallops) and the oyster special. For dinner, I had the cod scarlet. The cod was a wonderful blend of flavors - curry, sweet and smokey. Delicious! Be aware that the menu is large so you may want to decide on your preferred protein to narrow down your choices.
I would say “best” seafood restaurant in the town. “Moules Na Cataplana” is the tastiest mussel dish I have ever tried, must try that.
Another one is the cod fillet with Ramen noodle, a unique and delicious dish.
Great service and beautiful table arrangements.
Overall, everything was above and beyond!
Hope to visit again!
We arrived JUST as they were opening for the day and that was right on time. They fill up QUICK so early arrival is important.
I was hesitant to try their calamari but IT. IS. AMAZING! Their pesto aoili perfects the dish, oh my yum. I could have made that my meal.
My fish sandwich was delicious, but it had too much bread. It was otherwise perfect. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his seafood platter. He was hesitant to try the oysters after a previous bad experience elsewhere but he was very happy.
We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
Celebrated a birthday and Linda made the whole evening very special. She was very attentive and helped us with making sure our meal was gluten free. The food was spectacular - oysters were fresh, the sea bass perfectly cooked, and the steak/lobster tail was delicious. Thank you for making this a perfect birthday dinner.
If you’re in Chatham do NOT MISS this quaint restaurant!! Impeccable service by Kate and some of the best food we’ve had during our time in Cape Cod. We will be back!
Ordered the fish and chips here. Was surprised while eating when a whole chunk of butter was observed in my fish without being melted. Fish tasted good. My friends had the mussels and wow they were huge!
Always great food and our staple restaurant when staying on the Cape. The Seafood Atlantis presentation was great. Could of used some more seasoning but overall a great meal and highly recommended. I’d put this on my menu any day!
Probably the best place to get diner in Chatham!
The ambiant is great! Its super busy, we got our name on the waitlist and get a drink at the bar. Cocktails are great and very original.
The food is so good, we get 2 seats at the bar.
We got the typical American dining experience that we hope!
Ill definitely come back!
Love love their food...my favorite is going for a late lunch before 3 and enjoying their mussels with chorizo sausage and garlic herb rolls. Delicious!! And also tried a lemon martini with cucumber vodka infused with Basil. Very good summer drink. My hubby loved the clam chowder!!!
