We have been going to El Puerto for almost 12 years now, the food is always great and so is the service, everyone is so friendly. Best Mexican in Charlottesville!

I love this place. I miss the downtown location.
We are so thankful to El Puerto for their continued support in the community. El Puerto donated delicious chips, salsa, and quesadillas to our Christmas Toy Drive party! We could not have made this event happened without their generous donations. We love working with businesses like El Puerto because they are so willing to help the community!
Don't let the appearance of the building fool you, this restaurant is fantastic. We had great food, service and prices were fair. I highly recommend dinning at this restaurant.
Still prefer Guadalajara. When it comes to the basics of margaritas and salsa, still prefer Guadalajara. Everything else is a wash.
This place has great food, friendly-fast service, AMAZING drinks and the price is extremely awesome! Guadalajara and Plaza Azteca seem too worried about making money and being flashy. El Puerto actually seems to care about each table personally and everyone is just so friendly. The price range makes it a casual or business casual restaurant, but is also great for parties. I LOVE this place and is definitely the best Mexican restaurant around.

I love this place! They have the best Mexican food in the area hands down. And as an added plus, I had been in college out of state for 6 months, and they remembered me, my family, and our usual order. I absolutely recommend this place!

Good local food.. Great price for some wonderful food. A lot of locals speak highly of this place so you know its good.

Finally!. By far the best Mexican restaurant we've found in C'ville! After being completely underwhelmed by every place we've tried, we hit the jackpot with El Puerto. So authentic that most of the patrons were actually Mexican. Excellent carne asade and wonderful, friendly service.
Nice Place. A Wednesday evening, passing thru town for a couple of days. Staff was attentive, food was excellent and as Mexican as any I've found in Mexico or the Southwest. Special plate for 2 (more than we could eat) and a couple of beers for under $20.
Great. This is the best Mexican food in Charlottesville by far. I used to go every Friday and by now, as soon as I walk in, without asking, they bring my drink to the table. The service and atmosphere are great. The rice blows away Guadalajara as do the prices. The Faijitas are about $3 more expensive at Guadalajara.
Great, cheap, authentic Mexican food in cville? Yes! I knew I was in for a treat when I walled through the door to a blaring futbol match on tv.
We had a fabulous lunch with margaritas here yesterday. Super friendly staff, quick service, and hot delicious food. Great value and a bit nostalgic for us as locals who used to dine here in high school (20+ years ago 😅). We will definitely be back, and much sooner than our previous unintended hiatus. Love El Puerto!
The best enchiladas I've EVER HAD!!!! We also got non alcoholic peach margaritas and GOOD GOOGLY MOOGLY....
