The service was certainly 4.5+ but I thought the food, for the price, was a little underwhelming.
We came here before the evening rush and ordered the Bison Hanger Steak (special) and Wasabi Pea-Nori Crusted Salmon. Both meals came out exceptionally quick (which was a plus) and were good -- I especially liked the steak -- but for the price I would have liked a bit more steak (I would guess in total the steak was around 10 ounces). We finished the night off with the flourless chocolate cake which was good but I think we should have ordered something else (that's on us).
Our server - Sydney - was lovely, very helpful and courteous, and very attentive. It was a good experience overall and maybe we had higher expectations than we should (The Local came recommended from multiple friends who spend a lot of time in Charlottesville).

Really great quality food! I got the gnocchi bolognese and was very impressed. Very fresh and flavorful. Definitely a top choice for dining in Charlottesville. The cheeseboard was also delicious!

Fantastic place! Extremely fast service, friendly staff, loved to see that all staff were pitching it in all jobs. Everyone was busing tables, everyone was running food, everyone was running drink. It gave off an atmosphere of strong teamwork and steady service. The restaurant is also accessible despite it being a historic building, which is always a nice surprise for me. They were able to seat us at a table with plenty of room to stash my mobility aid out of the way. The food was amazing and for such a great price! We left feeling stuffed to the gills and even had leftovers to take home. If we’re ever in the area again, I’d love to go back.

My daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception and post wedding brunch were recently held at The Local. The staff were an absolute pleasure to work with. There was plenty of staff on hand, they all worked their tushes off, yet they were all friendly and cheerful and an all around pleasure to be around. The food was plentiful, reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. The venue was beautiful, the staff worked hard to make my daughter's vision a reality. I highly recommend The Local as a great place to hold special events.

As usual, we were very happy with our food. The brussel sprouts/ cauliflower appetizer is so scrumptious. However this time some of the Brussel sprouts weren't quite cooked enough. I tried something new, the salmon, which tasted delicious although I didn't see the wasabi pea crust. The goat cheese salad is one item I wouldn't bother with again.
Our server was very sweet and attentive, but she made quite a few mistakes (delivering another foods table to us, giving my husband the wrong drink, and the salad arriving after our entree). We still greatly enjoyed the restaurant and will be happy to come again.

We worked with Michelle to plan our wedding reception. She helped us with the menu and the setup, and made us feel quite comfortable with what we could expect for the evening. She was always ready to answer our questions or make minor adjustments to our requests for the event. Her staff did a lovely job preparing the space (in a very short amount of time!) with our decorations and the place looked absolutely beautiful. John worked with us to finalize this setup and for the evening of the event. He was so helpful and so kind throughout the night. Anything we asked for, he went out of his way to get an answer or make happen. The people who worked the event were attentive and kind. All in all, the Local made our event just such a pleasure. The food was amazing and the drinks were delicious. They were so respectful of allergies and our budget. They kept my mom (she was our ‘point person’) updated throughout the evening so we knew when we were getting close to our bar limit–which didn’t happen until the end of the night! Overall, they created a truly magical reception for us and we can thank them enough. Plus–our brunch the next morning was wonderful, as well!

We had a lovely dinner on the outdoor side patio. The menu is varied and has vegetarian options and daily specials. We had stuffed squash, fried chicken, mushroom fettuccine and an appetizer of cauliflower and brussel sprouts. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our waiter, Kevin, was very efficient and attentive, and kept our order in his head! Just be aware that parking is sparse, there's a lot where you use an app to pay, and street parking but you may need to walk aways.

The restaurant was very nice, with exposed brick and 2 floors of seating. It looked like there was a second floor deck, but it seemed there was a wedding reception going in so we couldn't see how big/nice it might be.
The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.
Parking seems like it might be tough sometimes, but the restaurant is in a little neighborhood, which makes it very nice
