The food was amazing if you don't like spicy beware, I got the egusi soup with chicken and beef with pounded yam. They gave me some nut thingy they sweet kinda than very spicy. Plantains are amazing.
This was by far the best african food i have had. I read the reviews before going and to be honest i think they are wrong. This is the true african culture coming to life on your plate. The jollof rice, chicken and plantains were amazing. So much flavor. Cooked with true culture. The only thing i can tell you is to go and experience it for yourself. The owners are not mean and they are very humble and sweet. They care. I looooved this place!! The restuarant was clean and decorated to help you better experience yhe African culture!
Omg the best Nigerian food. I drive 3 hrs twice a month to get some fufu and egusi soup and collard soup with beef. The staff is so nice and they can get my business anytime
I love their Egusi Soup hadn't had it in years until The Cooking Pot's Egusi Soup wonderful I try and go as much as possible. The owner is very Awesome. The staff are as Awesome as can be!
So, I’ve never tried African food before. I walk in like the big, fat, dummy that I am and said, “I’ve never had this before, what do you suggest?” The lady behind the counter was helpful and had a great energy about her. Very friendly. She asked me if i liked spice and I said yes. She let me try the Jollof before i got it to make sure. OMG, it was delicious. Spicy, oh God it was spicy. I had the beef and chicken with it and both were excellent. You can tell they care about the food they make and take pride in it. I will definitely return. Well done!
Truthfully, I give 4 stars due to the food being AMAZING and customer service being ehh ok. This was our first time eating fufu & egusi soup. Figured we’d try it for the New Year! I called our order in, she said it’ll
be 30 minutes. which is perfect because i’m only 30
minutes away. We get there super excited to get our food and run back home to try it! The Lady was on the phone for about 6-7 minutes giving us no type of acknowledgment!! I thought that was a bit off but we were excited so we looked passed it. Then she began to make our plates. it’s going on 10 minutes now *this is why i called it in* . She then gets ready to swipe my card. I kindly tried to hand it to her but she proceeded to say in a non-customer service way ,“When I am ready 😐”, Then took my card right after saying that. If I’m paying close to $50 for some food I’ve never had before at a place I’ve never been before I expect the customer service to match the amazing food. I would go back for the food. But next time I hope the atmosphere is more welcoming,
Giving it a 5 the food was bussin 😋 went around 4ish had the chicken with fufu. I was very satisfied I think the spot itself needs a little more love but honestly the food distracted me I absolutely loved it ❤️. Don't be like me lol know what everything is called educated yourself before trying to order please. 🤭
I always come here for the egusi soup which is amazing, but today I decided to try something different. I got the okra soup with beef and fufu, best okra soup ever!! I love this place so much everytime I go the lady is always so sweet. Will definitely be back very soon probably next week Lol.
First time trying and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Can’t wait to return
As a first generation Nigerian kid who doesn't get to go home very often to have my mom's home cooked meals, I absolutely loved loved the food here! I had the jollof rice, moi moi, beef and tripe and it was perfectly cooked. For everyone wondering about the friendliness of the service, since I've seen a few negative reviews about that, Nigerian culture is very different from American culture. We are not overly boisterous and dramatically friendly. It's just a different culture but I had great service and the great food and wish they had one where I lived in Raleigh. Definitely would recommend to friends and family!
