Review Julia's Coffee - Charlotte

Shiloh D.
I like supporting local products and Julia's Cafe are great. Their coffee I think is above average and the muffins are pretty good. I haven't tried their sandwiches yet but I would go back again and would definition recommend this place. You can buy books for a goodprice. Plenty of parking outside.

Good tasting coffee and espresso. They use magnolia coffee.... Cool bookstore is attached.

This is connected to ReStore (a place run by Habitats for Humanity) where people can donate furniture and other home items. (Great if you enjoy thrifting. 😊) Although the cafe appears to be a separate business from ReStore - they have their own set of donated products that they also sell - I noticed books, records/vinyls, sheet music, and cute note cards. The products displayed in the cafe are specifically sold in the cafe and must be purchased there (as well as the food/drinks, of course). And vice versa for the products displayed in the ReStore area. While they are separate businesses with separate checkout areas, however, they are really part of one big warehouse and customers can easily go in and out of the cafe and ReStore without going outside to exit one and enter the other. Because of that, I suspect that they are both run by Habitat for Humanity, and I’d also imagine the proceeds from both help the same cause. The people that were working there were really nice, too! I enjoyed talking with them, and they seemed genuinely interested in our conversation. Even the other customers were nice, lol. My mom and I were singing a song from sheet music, trying to remember exactly how the song went. (Obnoxious to do in public, I know… 😳) But these two ladies sitting near us said they enjoyed our earlier singing as they were leaving the cafe. 😂 I’m attaching a picture of the things I bought (for next to nothing!) so people can get idea of the products sold in the café area. ☺️

A hidden gem for sure! And with sales benefiting a charitable cause as well. The coffee and food selection seems quite broad, and they have different types of cow and plant milk for your dietary desires. My latte arrived hot and tasty, and allowed me to with warm hands! With my coffee I perused the book selection, and it's quite diverse, from children's books to vintage book, even bibles and nutrition options to choose from. I needed up grabbing a vintage historical fiction novel I hope to enjoy from 1945 and in great condition! Definitely a great place to browse, and if you have kids or are in need of childrens books, there are tons at very affordable prices.

Service: 10/10 Very nice ladies, quick and courteous Cleanliness: 10/10 Very clean and sanitary Staff: 10/10 They took my order correctly, and explained the menu when I had questions Atmosphere: 11/10 A café, in a used book shop??? It doesn't get any better than this Busy: 6/10 Steady traffic but not crowded Value: 10/10 Whoever prices the books, must also know what it's like to buy used books, never seen fairer prices. Overall: 10/10 I highly recommend this place. And the iced mocha tastes better than any I ever had, legit, on gawd. 100% I like Barnes and Noble, but I'd much rather support small business

This was a pleasant surprise. I've working at Habitat around the Triangle area before relocating here and they do not have cafes attached to them. Yet, this was much more than a cafe (see pictures of food, books, and movies)! The staff, like most Habitat locations, was very friendly and helpful. I learned that in the Charlotte area alone, Julia's cafe receives thousands of books each year which every folks can buy for as little as $1. But they have a special section set aside of rare books. Those books will cost a little more, yet nothing outrageous. Now, they also have movies for sale which looked brand new and perfect for cold days like we have coming up. On the way in or out, don't forget to grab a drink or pastry which looked amazing. I would definitely recommend stopping by!

Along with the spectacular conversation with a wonderful person everything was great. The price is good for a mom and pop like establishment. The atmosphere was quaint and quiet. We ate wedding cookies that tasted great as well as our raspberry lattes made with almond milk. Definable would recommend going there.

Good food, great coffee, good internet and all proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity! This is such an amazing concept for a cafe. I love supporting Habitat anyway with volunteer time and donations to the restore, but as someone who often works from "flex offices" having a place I can go with good food, great coffee, a place to work and an ability to give back is simply amazing. I also love all the amazing records, DVDs, tapes and of course, books you can purchase for a low cost. Overall, this is an amazing concept so I will definitely be coming back!

Excellent little coffee and book shop. The prices on both were good. Plenty of room to camp out, read, and drink good coffee on a rainy, cold day.

I went to Julia's cafe on my way to work oneday. At that point I'd never been there before and i just wanted coffee. That was 5 years ago and i never drank another sip from any other place since then. Julia's is the perfect blend of great coffee and customer service. They are also a great asset in the fight against homelessness. Finally a place where we can drink coffee and feel good about it.

One of my favorite places in CLT for coffee, conversation, and nibbles. The things you purchase go back to the Habitat for Humanity, there are plenty of locally made snacks as well as locally roasted coffee. The only thing that would put this at a 5 would be if the outdoor seating area was spiffed up a bit, and they're weren't as many people walking by asking for money, etc.

The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte was exactly what I was looking for! I loved the vibe of Julia's. Surrounded by books, fellow patrons, and comfy seating provided the perfect ambiance to enjoy my coffee and get work done. I would come back weekly if I lived closer. And to top it all off, your purchase goes to a good cause! Forget Starbucks, more people should frequent Julia's.
