Review Ruby Tuesday - Charlotte

We originally tried this location because we had such a great experience at the Bland Street location. 1. The parking is a major advantage. It's a free parking lot outside the restaurant with plenty of parking. 2. This restaurant is located in the old Ruby Tuesday building on Johnston Rd. It's a large space with plenty of dining room seating. They have a lot of the same New Orleans decor but the feel is just a bit cold. 3. The service was excellent. The hostess seated us promptly and the dining room was really clean. Our waitress was also really friendly. She was very patient with us as we ordered and she was knowledgeable about the offerings on the menu. 4. The food was just ok on this visit. We really enjoyed the avocado toast. The O.G. Bennie was good but not remarkable. The sweet heat chicken and french toast was a bit dry but still good. 5. All in all we had a good time here but we wished they had a few more options for people who don't eat pork. They will treat you really well and deliver some solid food.

The food was quite good. We had an omelet, grits and the southern breakfast. The fried green tomato 🍏 was extremely delish. The service was okay but nothing spectacular. However, I must say that everyone was very pleasant. Loved the ambience in this restaurant. Joining the wait list is the best thing ever. Once we actually arrived we only waited for 5 minutes. And there were a lot of people waiting t o get in. We are looking forward to trying so many other entrees on the menu. We will definitely be returning....

Very good! We enjoyed eating here at this restaurant in New Orleans, and were excited about this location opening in Charlotte. At this visit, I tried the Creamy Vanilla Spiced Latte and the Bananas Foster French Toast. I enjoyed the French Toast but was disappointed with the latte, and irritated the cup wasn’t filled. My partner had the Three Little Pigs omelette, with a biscuit and tater tots (instead of grits). The omelette was delicious and we would likely have it again. Staff was friendly and prompt and we look forward to returning and trying more from the menu in the future.

I just left the Ruby Sunshine on Johnston & I must say, the food was really good! I got the Hot Honey chicken & French toast bites and their seasonal mimosa. I was nervous at first because I saw reviews that said the French toast was "dry, hard, & inedible", but that wasn't for the case for me. The french toast was perfectly crisp on the outside & nice and soft on the inside. So either they changed the way they make them or I had a really good batch. The chicken strip were also nice and favorable. I went pretty early on a Saturday (around 8am) and I didn't have to wait at all. It was actually pretty empty. But it started to full up around 8:45 as I was leaving. I look forward to coming back!

The rating really deserves 4.5 stars but I don't know how to give a 1/2 star. I honestly only have 1 semi-negative thing. We'll, get to that. First, parking and the wait. Lots of parking available. The lot is pretty big. HIGHLY RECOMMEND you join the wait list before going, it's really helpful and allows your wait to be very minimal (make sure to check in at the hostess booth when you get there). Second, service. We were greeted with kindness and served with a smile, laughter and a good vibe. The food came quick (they were pretty packed, but what do you expect on a Sunday at 11am, again, highly recommend joining the wait list ahead of time). The food, so good. We started out with the fried green tomatoes. They were scrumptious. They tasted kinda like a BLT with a remoulade (in all the best ways your taste buds can imagine). My husband had the Three Little Pigs omelet with grits and a biscuit. The biscuit came with a maple butter that was good. He wanted a side of pancakes and the waitress recommended he order the kids pancake that gave him bacon for less (again, great service). He enjoyed all of it. I ordered The Peacemaker. This included a combo of any 2 benedicts. The name is very fitting because I honestly couldn't decide which Benedict I wanted and my taste buds were fighting each other. I eventually ordered the Chicken St. Charles and the Bayou shrimp, both were delicious and I'd absolutely order them again. We also ordered the mimosa flight and a Hello Sunshine. The mimosa flight was fine. The watermelon pomegranate and the peach bellini were our favorite. The only negative of our whole experience was the Hello Sunshine "cocktail" which is said to be made of gin, grapefruit juice and a rosemary syrup. Mine tasted of only grapefruit juice. There was a sprig of rosemary but I didn't taste any rosemary syrup or gin for that matter. The cocktail came in a glass full of ice so you know that already means it's not gonna be great. The ice waters down any resemblance of a cocktail. The glass was a glass your water or sweet tea comes in, not a nice cocktail container. That's my only criticism. If I'm going to pay $11 for a cocktail (which is actually low) can I get a little sum sum in the drink? If I wanted grapefruit juice I would've just ordered grapefruit juice for half the price. Again, everything else was great. I'm still going to go back, but next time I'll rethink that drink.

Well my second visit wasn't as good as the first. The food was still delicious and we were seated pretty quickly. However it took 10 to 15 minutes for someone to come to the table for our drink orders. I noticed people seated after us had their orders taken much faster than us. When my coffee came it was lukewarm at best so I asked for a fresh cup of coffee. I waited and waited but it didn't come so I found the waitress and asked. She was brewing fresh coffee (which I completely understand but please come tell me). The coffee came as I was finishing my meal and it was terrible. As we were paying we were told there was a large party in the back. I know that's lots to deal with but just communicate that to your other customers. We'd heard great things about Ruby Sunshine and finally had the opportunity to go. My husband and I both loved it! We arrived at 11:45 and were seated right away. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I had the stuffed French toast and my husband had the shrimp Benedict. We are already trying to figure out when to go back!

My sister and I decided to meet up for brunch and stumbled across this restaurant online. We signed up online, and I arrived before her, so they dont seat you down until your whole party has arrived, so I did have to wait a while until she arrived. There were a lot of people waiting outside, so there was a bit of a wait if you didn't sign up online. I think at one point the wait time was an hour and a half. The employees were all nice and welcoming. I ordered the fried chicken egg Benedict with a side of grits, and my sister ordered the shrimp egg Benedict. The grits were very tasty, and I enjoyed them. Now the chicken egg Benedict was delicious, but the only thing was that I did find the chicken to be somewhat harder than I would expect chicken to be, and it was a but dry BUT since it did come with a poached egg, the yolk did help the chicken be a little more softer and have juicier. Their peach Bellini was very tasteful and refreshing on this hot day, and my sisters mimosa was also very delicious. Definitely recommend this location and returning.

I'm glad I didn't get the fried chicken with French toast. They came out really overcooked two of my friends couldn't even cut it with a knife it was so dark and overcooked. One of them sent theirs back. Biscuits were a little off.. coffee got cold way too quick could have been because the air was on but no one asked if we wanted to warm it up either so had a cup of coffee that I couldn't even finish. Oh well first time there.

I dined at Ruby Sunshine Ballantyne this past weekend. I definitely recommend using their waitlist option online, or otherwise it will take a while to get seated. I just sat at the bar to skip the wait time. I ordered the cinnamon swirl pancakes with sausage and the tots appetizer. Both were delicious! French toast bites are definitely a must have (previous visit). The atmosphere was cool vibes; most people were making conversations with others near them. The manager on duty was nice, and checked to make sure my visit was satisfactory. Ruby Sunshine gets a👍 for me!

This was our first time here and the food was very good. Our server was amazing, she kept checking on us and was very attentive. They also have a patio out front to dine. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Tried Ruby’s for the 1st time on Sunday morning after my brother suggested it. Highly recommend placing yourself on the waitlist online. Arrived and checked in with the hostess at 10:01 and was seated a little after 11:00. The place was busy and had a two hour wait. The atmosphere is casual and family friendly with music playing in the background. Our server was Amber and she was good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and while we’ve had better, they were still pretty delicious, but were on the warm side as though they sat in the window for a bit. The hubs ordered the Pineapple Upside Down pancakes and were by far some of the best pancakes I’ve ever tried. They didn’t even need syrup! I had the classic French Toast and they weren’t great. Honestly just brioche bread dipped in egg and milk. There wasn’t anything spectacular about them. I was actually disappointed. Both pancakes and French toast came with bacon which my hubby substituted for chicken sausage and he added on a side of eggs. He enjoyed his entire meal. The bacon was delicious as well. We ordered an omelette to go for my son and I was highly glad that a side and biscuit came with the meal. Our entire meal with drinks came our to be $63. While a little pricy, I understand b/c of inflation. There is ample parking for this location. I will definitely be back as I want to order the Pineapple upside down pancakes!

I came on a Thursday around 12:30 so there wasn’t a wait. I ordered the fried green tomatoes (minus the bacon jam). Really good! Then I had an omelette with chicken sausage, spinach, mushrooms, and Swiss. This comes with a biscuit and a side of grits 5/5! There are other side options as well. Honestly, this will be one of my favorite breakfast spots

First time trying out this place for brunch, and it did not disappoint! Friendly, fast service and 10/10 food. Will definitely be back 😋 as seen in photos- mimosa flight, French toast bites, loaded tots, fried green tomatoes, sausage gravy biscuit platter, pork and fried chicken eggs benedict.

Nice early Wednesday morning and the biscuit and gravy was excellent. Shrimp and grits rates among the best ever. Fried green tomatoes appetizer was perfect. Bright and cheerful atmosphere. Good service. Thank you for the experience!

After getting seated it took 18 minutes for anyone to get our drink order. The place was not busy. Service was horrible! Our food was okay. Waiter brought our bill we placed credit card in with the bill walking passed us Five times never even looking after 20 minutes I stopped another waitress and asked her if she could take this. Will not be back there. Service sucked! This was my first not leaving s tip!!

I was visiting in Charlotte and chose Ruby Tuesday because it was close to my hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and great food choices. I ended up eating there three times during my stay in Charlotte. This is a great place. When I return in February I will definitely eat at Ruby Tuesday of Toringdon. John Marshall

The salad bar was ok but the steak was terrible. It was thin and overcooked. I asked for medium. Mashed potatoes are from a box. Flies were a nuisance during the while meal. The people however were very nice and helpful. I just wish the food quality was better.

We had burgers and the Salad Bar. There were several items that needed replenished and when I brought to KJ's attention they were immediately replaced. KJ was an Awesome waiter.

Great service by our server Courtney! Me and the girls were on our lunch hour, she had multiple tables and was still able to assist us swiftly and professionally! We will be back!

Alway great food wonderful service. Just a awsome place to eat and have a few drinks!

My wife and I experienced the worst service we ever had at this location since it opened. We waited more than 40 minutes for our food. People who came in 20 minutes after us were served within 15 minutes (or less) of being seated. Our waitress blamed the problem on the kitchen staff. 2 simple meals, 1 chicken, 1 hamburger. We sat down at 6:40 pm and didn't begin eating until 7:35 pm. We'll think twice about coming back for another meal.

For the value, hard to beat ruby Tuesday. Above average service, terrific salad bar and their RT selections are excellent. Decent wine list. Their $12.99 meals might be the tastiest values on the planet.

Every Thing was yummy, our waitress was great! I would go back again, next time i might get the salad bar it looked really good too.

Service was extremely poor. Had to wait a long time for drinks and had to repeatedly put in the order. Grilled shrimp arrived as breaded shrimp. Service was painfully slow.

Came into town and was looking forward to a great meal...didn't quite happen. Salad bar was a mess, many items empty. Was not given tableware, took my credit card for payment and failed to bring back. Had to go ask for it. On top of everything they have removed buffalo chicken sliders from the menu. Disappointing in one of our favorite spots.

The waitress was parfait and friendly, the food excellent!

At 5:15 today (Sunday), my wife and I went to eat here. The restaurant was basically empty. (Only 4-5 tables occupied). The host, a young man, tried to seat us in the bar area & we requested a seat in the nearly empty dining area. We were told that there was 10-15 minute wait for a server in that section. He said we could wait in bar or eat in bar and walked away. I went the hostess station and informed he we were leaving. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away. This is the third time that we have had service issues on a Sunday at this location. The staff acts like it is an inconvenience to wait on people. Unfriendly & indifferent attitude. May explain why is was nearly empty. FYI - Midwood Smokehouse next door was awesome!

My husband is on travel and I am six hours away. I called and spoke to Hannah - manager - and she helped me pull off a dessert treat. She and the staff sang Happy Birthday to my hubby, brought dessert and even a balloon. Thank you for helping me reach out to my hubby on his special day when he was on travel. Hannah - you are AWESOME!!

This is a regular place we go when we want a salad bar and short wait. The burgers are good except they recently deleted the pretzel rolls. A bad decision. The ribs are pretty good. The chicken dishes are all good and the salad bar is good. I also recommend the spaghetti squash. The new menu changes are really good. They have a three course deal that is a bargain<br/><br/>

Place was busy, which to us is a great sign, must be good service and food! It was absolutely that. Jacob our waiter was on it! Salad bar was very fresh! Valentine's Day 2015. We have been to this Ruby Tuesdays many times, and have always had great food and great servers!

Gross! Yuck!. My husband was kind enough to bring me takeout from RB. He enjoys the salad bar a couple of times a week. I ordered a chicken n rice dish. I opened the box and my rice was in a plastic bag labeled Wed. ??? Nasty! The Chicken n gravy was on top of the plastic bag. YUCK!!!! Made an online complaint and the manager of the Ballantyne location called us. They offered a gift card. We expressed that we just wanted our money back ($14) as we were not sure if we would be back. Responce...We do not give refunds! So sorry!!! WOW! My career has been all about teaching leadership and customer service. I wish RT would teach the same....Shame on you !!!! YUCK YUCK!!!!

No lobster. It was a friday nite and we were told when we called they were expecting a large crowd. when we got there it was not busy. i went just to get lobster, was surprised they didn't have it, can't even remember what i did get. just that it wasn't lobster. but why is it n their commercials????? my father got the shrimp dip. wasn't too good and was too hot for a 86 year old. my husband wanted ribs and ordered. waitress came back soon to say "ooops, out of ribs". that's all he wanted from the menu, but ordered the steak instead that was tough and not very flavorful. on a friday nite at 7:30 they should not have been out of ribs. so go to ruby tuesday at your own risk.

Pretty damn good. I went to Ruby Tuesday on Johnston Road in charlotte Ballantyne area. Personally i enjoyed it. Everyone in there was super friendly and food was good. Excellent salad bar and mini burgers! While you wait they will bring you unlimited cheddar biscuits. I liked it. I will be going back soon

Burger Not Great. I went for Ruby Tuesday for lunch today because I had a Facebook coupon for a free burger. The service was pretty good. Unfortunately, the burger was just OK. I had always wanted to try one of their burgers and was a little disappointed.

Don't do it. Takes them forever to get your lunch to you within a decent amount of time. Talked to two of my coworkers who went there and they both had their credit card numbers stolen and many items bought on the same day. Nuff said.

Worst Service in Charlotte. Took my mother to RT, a rare treat for her to eat out because of illness and Alzheimers. Big mistake. Her meal was undercooked to the point of raw in places and the sides were wrong, mine had none of the sauce, everything was cold, and everything was lousy. Our waiter never showed up again after taking the order, even though we would stop other wait staff to ask that they send him. Finally, I asked the hostess for help and she went and got some sauce (wrong kind), but said she couldn't do anything about my mother's raw chicken, that (once again), the waiter would be here in a minute. Neither he nor any other waiter ever came, nor did anyone make any attempt to correct our unsatisfacory meals. <br/><br/>After 45 minutes and giving up on getting edible food, we asked for the manager. He got on his knees on the floor beside our booth, looked at us with his most sincere expression, and told us how terribly sorry he was. But it was no one's fault. The waiter had been tied up trying to make the credit card system work and hadn't been able to get it up and working and so was not available.<br/><br/>The manager gave no reason for not making another wait staff person available and made no offer to provide us with a decent meal. He was just very, very sorry that this uncontrollable event occurred. Then he had someone bring us a full bill. Not so much the much requested sauce was provided, but he had the gall to ask if we wanted dessert while we were still trying to get the food we ordered cooked satisfactorily with everything that it was supposed to have. <br/><br/>This was approximately a year ago, but I will never eat in a RT again as long as I live - and I used to be a regular, not only in Charlotte, but when I traveled. This still outrages me.

Disappointed. We had dinner at the Johnston rd. location last night and the dinner had fantastic flavor, but was served COLD! We have dined at the Independence location as well and experienced the same thing. We were 6 in our party but that's no excuse. The New Orleans Seaford entre is so good but not cold! Please do better and we'll try again. Thanks
