Amazing lunch buffet. They have very extensive section of vegan customers. Samosas were really delicious.
Great value for your money. The lunch buffet has a few options - vegetarian, chicken, goat and fish. The food isn't spicy here and they also offer a lunch box for $5.
Food was amazing. We had the paneer tikki masala and a couple different naan breads. Don't be too turned off by the decor, it's nothing exciting. Service is a bit slow, but the employees were obviously working hard, just not enough employees to accommodate the guests. It's hard to find good Indian food in Charlotte. This little strip mall restaurant will be the only Indian restaurant we visit!
Biryani is great. Morning buffet is reasonable but limited options for vegan people. Ambience is average, not so great. But good value for money deal.

...I have to admit, I normally don’t eat at Indian restaurants because I have heard the food is very spicy. But today we were up for trying something different. We were in luck. Instead of choosing just one dish, we were able to experience multiple items from their lunch buffet, and many of them were very good. My favorite was the Chilli Fish, fresh tilapia marinated with spices, fried and tossed with bell pepper and onions.
YUM! Great for delivery when you don't want to cook and have a craving!. Bless passage to India for diversifying the University area's takeout options! I let myself order takeout once or twice a month and its almost ALWAYS to Passage to India. The food arrives hot and ready to eat - yes, you will have to wait at least 45 mins for it though...but totally worth it. I would recommend sticking to the Indian menu vs. the indo-chinese options as Indian is what they do best! Skip the naan and go for the Kulcha onion or potato (i've never tried paneer b/c I don't like paneer) instead. I love the Dal dishes and although you can never go wrong with Chicken Tikka Masala - the Vindaloo and bhuna is great too. Just ensure to ask for your proper spice level.
You get a lot of food so be prepared to eat leftovers if you are ordering for one person. Great place. Great food...pricey but worth it.
Great Buffet & Box Lunches. Go to Passage to India during their buffet hours and get a box lunch ($4 veggie/$5 meat) to go. You can pick from any two (2) of the buffet items ...... and it comes with a heaping portion of basmati rice plus naan! I recommend their Tandoori chicken and paneer tikha masala (plenty of paneers). If you dine in, the service is helpful and courteous. This place is real Indian with many UNC faculty, students and admin filling up during lunch hour buffet. It is small with subdued lighting, but the food is nice. Try it.
This is a hidden gem in Charlotte. My wife and I go here every Sunday for the buffet and they have some of the best food in Charlotte. The Tikka Masala is out of this world good!
Best Indian in Charlotte...PERIOD. My wife and I eat here about once per week and every time it is consistant and fantastic. If you order spicy...it's spicy...order medium ...it's medium. Between the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Chittinad or the Chicken Vindaloo you cannot go wrong. If you are a Vegetarian? no problem they have a huge menu for you also. For Appetizers the Spicy Calamari is to die for and we have to get it every time. (extra spicy please).
They also have a daily buffet which is very good also but not as good as their dinner menu (Plus they never put Tikka on the buffet and I know why...COS IT IS SO DAMN GOOD and they have to get people in there for dinner :)
Price is very good and the service like a lotta places can range from a little slow to perfect. (we all have bad days right)
A bit pricey for what you get. Veggie biryani only includes cauliflower plus sauce.
Bathroom extremely not clean.
Ate here for the first time Monday. Excellent chicken tiki masala. Large serving had me filled. Loved the buttered naan. Best way to describe the atmosphere is an Indian take out restaurant with some seating. You order at the counter, serve your own water, and bus your own table. They no longer have a buffet. Overall I would recommend this place but just know what it is ( a good stop for Indian food) and isn’t (buffet or romantic date night stop).
Great taste of Indian food dishes. Fresh Naan, and their tandoori chicken and tandoori paneer was delicious 😋.
Good food and reasonable prices. My only problem is in the pickup process. I ordered around 4:30 pm and scheduled a 7 pm pick up, I got there at 7 and they said I needed to wait as my food wasn’t ready yet. Ten minutes later there was a line outside and the small booth they have inside made it really hard to communicate without cutting people in line. I ended up getting my food about 20 minutes later although I ordered it over 2 hours in advance. I think the pickup process can be vastly improved. Food was good though.
Delicious Butter Chicken and Manchurian Shrimp w.Jasmine rice and Butter Naan. Portions for delivery are small. But fresh and tasty.
Fantastic food. They are reasonably priced compared to most other Indian restaurants in town as well which makes it all the better.
The service is wonderful too. My only personal complaint is I wish there was a spice level between "medium +" and "spicy" but the food is fantastic and well made!! That's partially on me for not being able to take the heat.
I came in once and there was a mixup with my call-in order, mistakes happen so I wasn't mad. They provided a free drink which was lovely as I was biking out in the heat just to visit this place. I highly recommend trying this place out!
The quality of food and taste is great also pretty good hygiene. The service is also nice. Polite Staff is always willing to help. What makes them better from other Indian restaurants is that they are consistent in their quality and service.. So far one of the best Indian restaurants in Charlotte, I love to visit them again. Keep up the good work.
Every time I go its packed full of door dashers. Never sat to eat so I cant really judge the service but the lady up front was nice. I got the biriyani the first time it was way to spicy and it had a ton of staranise in it which wasn’t cool but the second time I had the Tikka Masala and it was delicious.
We already smelled the curry when across the street haha. Food is very delicious and they give you so much. We had lamb biryani. I think it's around $14 plus tax. Incredibly best value for awesome taste!! Look at this whole plate. It's literally enough for 2ppl. The cup is their special yogurt to put on top of rice. Anyways, it tastes really good! Takeout only though. Would definitely go back if visiting CLT again.
It's pick up only, so there isn't much atmosphere, but the food is incredible and they are so quick. Even when we've been late to pick up or delivery took a while, it's always been hot and good. Our orders are always right. If we know somebody likes Indian food, we go here and it always gets high praise. So good!
Disregard any low reviews for this place, the UNCC area is filled with bad customers and dumb reviewers and their take should not be taken seriously. All restaurants have unfair/bad reviews but some people are just dumb or cruel.
Best Indian food in North Charlotte and arguably the best in all of Charlotte, only competing with The Blue Taj! Service is great. The manager (whose name I unfortunately don’t know) is amazing and very nice. The food quality is always top tier and the taste is more than up to standard and that’s coming from an Indian person. Good portions, AMAZING flavor and spices. Never had any major issues here and always enjoyed my food.
Some honest downsides to this place include the closing of the buffet which I really miss, the pickup process can be annoying but that’s usually due to other customers rather than the restaurant staff themselves. The spice levels aren’t very consistent but the food is tasty nonetheless and the menu is pricey. I also wish they had more deals and coupons.
Overall, I very much recommend Passage to India and have introduced several of my friends who all love it!
