Local spot with exotic spices. Delicious food and a kind and knowledgeable staff. If they say it is spicy, they mean it. When they noticed I was struggling, the team helped me by adding cheese to cut the heat. They wanted to ensure I enjoyed the food. We really enjoyed the unique experience and delicious flavors.
This is your sign to try Ethiopian food! Abugida will be one of the best places to experience Ethiopian food. The vegetable Sampler is a great way to try all kinds of different vegetarian sides. It’s mainly lentils, potatoes and greens! It has Indian influence and you can taste the curry in the dishes. The beef tips are a good way to try a very traditional African meal, they were so flavorful and mixing it with greens was just the bet combination! When you go there ask for the African honey wine. I don’t believe it’s on the menu! It was so good. If you had Mead before, it will remind you of it.
Just be a little patient with the service, it’s a small family run business!
Amazing Ethiopian food! I highly recommend coming here. Very authentic and delicious! Definitely will be coming back. They even have gluten free injera. Made my day.
If I could give more stars I would! I wanted to explore different food and was suggested to try this spot! I LOVED IT! From the time you walk in until you leave they made sure me and my husband was taken care of and suggested options because I’m not huge on spicy! I definitely recommend!

The service was great and the server was very patient as it was our first time. Thanks! I had the Beef Abugida Feast. When I tell you everything was perfectly seasoned. The flavors meshed very well. I also tried Ethiopian coffee for the first time as well and from the time it hits your tongue there is a burst of flavor that Starbucks could never emulate.
I’ve never had Ethiopian food before so was excited to give another cultures food a try. They did not disappoint! Was absolutely delish! And the staff was amazing, I had so many questions and they were so patient with me. I got the beef tibs with cabbage, so much flavor. Also I got the coffee with included ceremony. So so so good! Can’t describe the flavor, but just know it was amazing. Yummers! Great experience all the way around.
Really good food, service and atmosphere. We felt very comfortable exploring some of the menu options. We tried the feast with beef strips, tea, their beer and coffee. Better be hungry because it was 2 of us and we had enough leftovers for a 3rd person with the feast.

Amazing food. It was fresh, quick and delicious. Extremely friendly and patient staff. It really felt like I was eating at a friend's house.
You will have to ask for side plates and cutlery as traditionally you eat with your hands. It was a great experience and I'm so glad to have experienced this delicious food and culture in Charlotte.
The woman who waited on us was very friendly and helpful choosing from the variety of unfamiliar food. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back and try a few other dishes. The restaurant is not really fancy but has a lot of interesting pictures to look at. Definitely will be back.
