Review Thai Taste - Charlotte

Vernon Chittum
Good food and great service. Never felt rushed and everything came out at a good pace. Doing the little things like having cold glasses and refills without needing to ask are always appreciated. Each dish had great flavor.

OHHHHH YAH! FANTASTIC THAI FOOD! A Hidden Gem in Charlotte. EXCELLENT Red Thai Curry (choice of Chicken, Shrimp, seafood mix) - I have Shrimp (see photo). Good Pad Thai also. Many nice & varied lunch specials that change daily; are cooked fresh to order; & are consistently good. Entrees come with ice tea or other beverage selections, excellent crisp Spring Roll, & a delicious light "homemade" chicken soup. About $15-$20/per entree. Very good, quick friendly service at this long-time family-owned/run restaurant. Dining room is small-ish (& not conducive for small children/baby strollers, etc.) but is attractive (Thai-kitsch) & clean. Parking can be tight. This restaurant sits back from the street with parking spaces directly in front, so it can be a challenge to find for the first time there. We have dined here on multiple occasions & always pleased - definitely a KEEPER for those who like Thai!

Ate at Thai Taste yesterday after visiting Paper Skyscraper. The restaurant staff is very welcoming and polite. I chose red curry with shrimp and it was very good. I loved seeing Pathein Htees (paper umbrellas) on the ceiling, that's very authentic.

Went during lunch and overall it was good. Not write home amazing, not fantastic, but simply a good small generic restaurant. service: Seated quickly, service was quick, very few words from the women who took my order and not even a smile. The guy who seated me seemed friendly and the women who took my payment was also friendly. food: I had the pad thai seafood combination and unlike most places they did a great job on the sauce. The shrimp and calamari clearly tasted frozen, and the calamari in particular was overcooked by a lot (so stick with the chicken, pork, or beef). The spring roll was a disappointment as it just had a bit of cabbage in it and nothing else with plenty of room, this meant that when it was fried oil could seep and and hold in. The soup was ok, mild flavoring, tasted like a chicken broth, and had a few small veggies in it with rice. Honestly, would just be better to cut those two items from the menu overall or as part of the special, better to serve 1 great thing then get it downplayed by something mediocre. Atmosphere: the place is small but nice. I was able to easily get to my seat, but if you are a larger person or need a walker or wheelchair this may not be a good option. The place itself hard bright but fading colors, and clearly the place is aging, but holding well overall.

Went there last night ,Food was amazing got recommended by staff. And had a chance to met the owner Name Sang to know the stories about Thai taste that opened since 1988. I love the decorations and tradition Thai music .. everything was amazing

This was our first time at Thai Taste and we will definitely be back. There food was amazing from the appetizers to the entrees and is truly authentic Thai food. The service from the entire staff was top notch and exceeded our expectations. The restaurant itself is a very quiet, quaint place which fits the neighborhood well. They have plenty of parking which was also a plus.

Thai Taste is an absolute hidden gem. This is one of those if-you-know-you-know places -- family owned, tight and crowded, and insanely delicious. The must try dish is the House Noodles and the Thai Tea was an excellent pairing. There is usually enough parking around behind the neighboring stores, but beware because this small restaurant fills up! Even if it's packed, it is WORTH THE WAIT.

Nice Thai restaurant just below uptown. Great menu selections, great drinks. Had the rice paper rolls with shrimp (#2) and the Pad Thai with pork (#40). Went with my social group. There were over 20 of us and the staff were very accommodating. Definitely a repeat site! Enjoy!

Best Thai food in charlotte with a warm thaii ambience. I had pad see EW and Tom Yum soup. My friend has Pad Thai. Busy so you should expect service to be a little slower but its worth the wait .

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Charlotte. I've tried various dishes here over the years, always a great experience. Good portions. Sooo tasty
Saravanan Ram
20 year old Thai place in the area. Seated quickly, but the orders took a while before served. I had Red curry with pineapple. The meat was juicy and the curry was flavourful. Service was good.

Really authentic spot. Recommend

Great place for vegetarians and vegans. Good food that can be made to order. Spicy-ness can be adjusted per request. Their Pad Thai and flat noodles were okay but their curries are rich, flavorful and delicious. The place is usually busy so would recommend calling ahead for wait time and reservations.

I always enjoy Thai Taste. The Owners and staff are very kind. They make sure you are taken care of. The dishes come out pretty prompt as well. In my experience at least. 12:00 noon gets really busy I noticed. So, I usually try to get there by 11:30. They serve a variety of amazing dishes. The food is always fresh and delicious. Something for everyone pretty much. As I type this up I am having urges to swing by for some deliciousness! If you haven't tried it. Definitely add it to your list. Yummy!

Food was good. I got a spicy level 3 out of 5 and it was spicy enough for me. Pretty cold in the place today. We we're seated right away but it took a while to be greeted. Lunch prices were fair.

Recently moved to Charlotte and I was desperately looking for good Thai restaurant. I was disappointed everywhere until today. I left feeling warm , full and very happy 😊😊. Definitely going back to try more dishes from the menu.

Run down place that smelled bad. I've had much better thai food with Thai carry out. After going there I decided to stick with the Thai House restaurants.

This is, by far the greatest Thai place in Charlotte. The Pad Kee Mao (which isn't actually on the menu, but they'll make it for you anyway) is perfect, and the pad see ewe is another favorite. The curry is flavorful without being too spicy, although I'm a terrible judge if spiciness, as I love heat. The only bad thing about Thai Taste is that everything is so good, I don't know what I should get!

Celiacs Beware!. For those on gluten free diets, I would highly encourage being wary of your dining experience, specifically those with Celiac Sprue disease. I explained to my waitress about my concerns and was encouraged to order Pad Thai as that is the "most gluten free" dish they offer. Once I received and ate a few bites of my pad thai, I started to feel a little ill, but didn't know why. Then I saw in the middle of my thin rice noodles, some thick doughy noodles. My husband asked the man who seemed to be managing that night who told him that there are NO noodles with flour in them at Thai Taste. Our waitress came over to show us the package of thin rice noodles, saying that sometimes there are a few thicker noodles. After approaching the same gentleman again, he said he could promise me that what I had seen were bean sprouts, not noodles. I picked a large noodle out of my bowl and said in no uncertain terms that no, this is a noodle. There are egg noodles advertised on the daily special sign by the front door and that is what this noodle looks like.We were then told that they were unsure if the egg noodles had gluten/flour in them, but they get ordered so infrequently that they are kept on a different side of the kitchen so we should feel safe about our meal. I hate that I felt the need to explain that I have been diagnosed for almost 14 years and have spent large amount of time hospitalized for reactions, so I don't just think wheat gluten is "icky". I would STRONGLY caution any Celiac to be wary of this uninformed establishment. Our waitress even mentioned how they accidentally gave someone with a peanut allergy a reaction the other day and how scary it was for THEM to see him swell up and react. Be CAREFUL!

Great food, size able portions and excellent service. The place was full on a Saturday night...that speaks for itself!

GREAT!. Some of the best food in Charlotte. Awesome lunch special with soup, drink, and entree for under $9. Best Thai food I have ever had. I will be a regular here now.

Excellent food and fast service! Generous portions make it a good value too! Will definitely return.

Small menu with 6 choices for lunch but can add chicken, beef, etc. Soup, small egg roll and iced tea are included with price. Food is very good. Not a huge portion but you won't leave hungry. Service is quick and efficient.

So yum! Pud Thai and Tom kha soup. Delicious.

So good!. Went here last month for a late dinner. Place is tiny (isn't that a good indicator?), but wasn't crowded because of the time. The food was tremendous paired with Thai beer. Great value and good portions means i'll certainly be coming back to this place when i'm in the southend.

By far the best Thai food ever. Super fresh and healthy. Quick service. Loved it all!!! Dumplings steamed were the best I ever had.
Ariel
Yum!. As I have dined at this restaurant several times, it's never a surprise at how fulfilling and consistent the food is. As I hadn't been there in awhile, dining there for dinner this past weekend was a reminder to keep it in my restaurant rotation. Delicious!

Best Thai food in Charlotte!!!

Thai Taste. This is a good place to enjoy a vegan or vegetarian meal. Also, there are plenty of meals on the menu for those wanting meat, fish or poultry.

http://www.examiner.com/healthy-living-in-charlotte/pat-anthony

Weekly Trio I. Thai Taste on East Blvd is one of the three dinner spots my husband and I return to on a weekly basis. Friendly staff, great food, and reasonably priced for Charlotte. For a twist on the classic spice level ask the chef to add fresh chilli for a unique and more authentic taste.

Schizophrenic?. I've been there twice. The first time was during lunch, it was jam-packed with folks and the food was simply AWFUL. Neither me or my GF was at all impressed with our entrees, which were barely mall food court quality. However, the second time I went was for dinner, and the place was much less crowded and the food was MUCH better. Perhaps they had an off day the first time, or maybe they just shovel as much food around as they can during lunch. I dunno. I'd go back, but there are better Asian options in Charlotte.

Good Thai. I have been to Thai Taste on multiple occasions, and have yet to be disappointed. Always good Thai food at reasonable prices.

By far... The best thai restaurant for miles. Great friendly service, so much so that the waitress cares enough to remember what you got last time. I recommend the Gang dang or pad thai with a thai tea.

Good. I enoyed the food but for layering and richness of flavors , it was outclassed by Basil, my favorite Thai place.

Good Thai food. I've liked everything I've had and have always had good experiences. Personally, I prefer Monsoon Thai a little further down South Blvd, but that's just me.

Excellent Curry. I tried this last night and enjoyed it very much. Started off with the chicken dumplings, which were a little overcooked which made the chicken dry and tough, so I was nervous about the main course. I had the Red Curry, which was spiced 4 out of 5 in terms of heat. The flavor was stupendous and the freshness of the ingredients was superb. I'm eager to go back and try their Green Curry and Massaman.

Perfect for Take-Out. One of my favorite Thai places in the area. The actual restaurant is very small and quite, I've actually never seen it with more than one or two tables occupied as I assume most people, like myself, use it for take-out.

The food is authentic thai - the Pad Thai, Gaeng Dang and Gaeng Jerd being my favorites.

The place is adorable with great service. If you like “Americanized,” mild Thai, it’s for you.

Thai Taste Inside. So adorable.
If you like your Thai food hot and spicy and complex and layered … it’s probably not for you.
