Review Mccormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks - Charlotte

Well I have always wanted to try this place. I have eaten in some of the best steak houses in the US. This did not disappoint. Brad, the manager, took care of us from the start. Danny the bartender. Melvin seated us, and Gabriella was the waitress. Could not have written a better script. We started with fried oysters, ahi tuna, and Shrimp kisses. Just wow. Then we tried fried lobster and we all ordered filet / rib eye with lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus, excellent fine dining. The deserts were apple cinnamon upside down pecan pie, creme Brule, and pumpkin spice cheese cake with a peanut drizzle. Again terrific. A must place to go

It's our 21st anniversary and this place did not disappoint. We wanted to go out to get some good food. My husband made a reservation. When we arrived we Roy greeted us with a warm welcome. We were seated and given menu's with a Happy 21st anniversary printed at the top. Our waitress Alyssa was absolutely amazing. The food absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place if your in the area.

The food is great and service is awesome . I believe they have a new chief or management. It is way better than last year. Oysters are fresh, clean and delicious. Baked oysters and scallops was amazing. Kid had Mac and cheese for just $7 and it was also delicious.

Had fun at happy hour, this chain restaurant doesn't disappoint although Lemon Drop Martini was almost like a lemonade can up the alcohol content to it; but The Chocolate Bag is always pretty to look at & fun to eat. I like Happy hour u can try many items and share with table

When we went, we had to wait a long time for service, but there was only one person staffing the bar area with 5 high top tables and a whole bar filled with patrons. It was definitely not her fault. The food was excellent. We enjoyed our meals very much.

The place is quite large, soft light, cozy, feels more crowded than it is. We got a booth by the window, great. Service with Colby was great, we were appreciative he worked on Christmas day. The salad was fresh and tasty, medium size, barely enough to share. I asked about the salmon but they only cook it medium or medium well, so I went for the cobia, white fish. The dish as a whole, with the greens and the golden beets was tasty, although the fish was a bit overdone, a bit dry, it needed the other elements. My partner has the parmesan flounder, tasty although it did have a couple of spots of 'fishiness'. It came with delicious mashed potatoes and brocolini, a bit crunchy. We want to come back again on a regular day.

Naj and I celebrated 6 years of marriage on December 8th and my birthday was December 9th, so we celebrated both wonderful days on Saturday the 9th. After watching a James Hood's, "Beautifica" at the IMAX Dome theater at Discovery Place Science Charlotte, we went to eat at McCormick and Schmick's where we had a reservation. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile and we did not wait long for us to be seated. The environment was beautiful with low lights and the noise level was average. Although the tables were very close, it was not too loud and we were able to hear each other closely. Our waiter was very friendly and took our order effortlessly. On our menus were written, "Happy 54th birthday Karlene and Happy Anniversary! That was a wonderful surprise!! Naj ordered the Miso Black Cod with a side of mushrooms and I had the crab and shrimp stuffed salmon, I had an old fashioned drink and Nag had a mule. The food was very tasty, we ate everything that was in the plate. We had a surprise at the end for my birthday, which was a Crème Burlee topped with fresh berries on the house. It was a magical night.

The service and food are absolutely amazing. The lump crab was so fresh and filling as well as the lobster bisque. The Parm chicken was crisp to perfection. We definitely will be returning.

Not sure if it's me being spoiled or this place is just overpriced. We've been to many different places around the world and tried seafood. I'd say that nothing beats Narragansett oceanfront. Here though you do get a nice quiet atmosphere and top service, and twice as high price, but the seafood is just good, not twice as good as the other places we've been to. I liked lobster bisque, it's good, again nothing special just good. We tried the popular desert, chocolate fruit bag, keep in mind that it's filled with white chocolate mousse, so it's pretty fatty, and the fruits are just on the top, the chocolate bag is made of really good dark chocolate though. Nice presentation. For 2 kids meals, 2 main dishes, 2 appetizers, 1 cup soup and 2 sides, 1 bottle of wine (45$, 3 times the market price), 2 deserts we paid around 300$. Kids menu is scarce, just like in many other places, kids get 2 poor quality crayons, each has 2 colors, and a piece of paper one side of it is a menu. As a birthday special you can get a free dessert, no candles or anything like that. Not a place I will long to come back unfortunately.

I stopped by after many years to check out the place on a Sunday afternoon. It was about 5% occupied. The service was well timed between meals. The restaurant was clean. I will return another round. 💜

My husband and I had just celebrated our anniversary and we had just came into town for the game. We ran across this restaurant which requires reservations. However, we didn’t make any because we didn’t know but they got us a table within 10 minutes. When we were seated, we were a little uncomfortable because we were seated right next to a group of girls, who were a little to loud for my liking. I wish I could remember her name but I express my concerns to, who was the hostess at the time, and she moved us right away. Not only did she move us, but she gave us the private booth with the curtain. It was perfect for our celebration. The food and drinks were made to perfection and the waiter was awesome! Just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Great atmosphere food was delicious 🤤 staff all very friendly. And don’t forget to sign up for the membership!

Everything was good I have eaten the shrimps there many times just today I experienced them being very salty the Crab cake was superb!

Wonderful experience. The atmosphere was very nice, quiet and perfect for our party. I had the lobstwr bisque, fried fish and lobster potatoes. Absolutely delicious. I actually joined the Rewards Program which seems like one of the best rewards program around. The GM, Brad was extremely accommodating and inviting. A must visit.

This is one of my absolutely favorite places to celebrate my birthday! The steak is always amazing seasoned and delicious. The lobster mashed potatoes just melt in my mouth with every single bite. I got the caramel apple cobbler to take home and did not share one piece. My only problem is that I have to drive an hour away to visit...but it's worth the time!

Made reservations for Mother’s Day this past Sunday and man what a mistake. I have had exceptional experiences at other locations for this restaurant... so I thought it would be a perfect place for dinner. We arrived 5 mins before the reserved time, which we had to wait for the table of 6 to be set up. No problem ...except for the fact they have no place to sit while waiting for said table. This is unfortunate because my mother in law usually uses a walker. She stood for about 15-20 mins... with no one offering to get her a seat. Once we were sat the table was only set up for 5 people. When I brought this to the hostess’ attention, she got another chair but no one ever added the sixth place setting. As soon as we sat down, we all noticed it was approximately 80 plus degrees in the section we were sat in. When we brought this to the attention of our sever, we were treated to a story of how his walk from the train station was really hot that day???? Not sure how that was going to help our sweating while we ate, but no one ever remedied the A/C issue. We ordered and finally had to ask for the bread while waiting for the appetizers to be delivered. The bread was the highlight of the meal! I ordered the stuffed shrimp, what a joke! They appeared to be maybe 20-30 count size shrimp with a total of 5 for like 28 bucks! My Mother-in-Law ordered the blackened chicken fettuccine which had been sitting in the window for probably 10 or more mins. The plate was scalding hot and the noodles were completely dry with no sauce on the top. The rest of the food was average at best. When you are paying an average of 25-30 bucks a plate, you should really expect better than average food. I should have known that at 5 o’clock on Mother’s Day and your restaurant isn’t full ...there is a problem. I would have probably said something to a manager, but I never saw one nor did anyone other than the server stop by to check on the table...Which never did get set for 6 people. I guess thank god for salad forks or I would have had to eat with my hands??? Also interesting, the server offered a dessert menu to us... yet the server at the next table offered complimentary dessert to the Mothers at his table ( we had 3 at ours). Nevertheless, we declined to make any additional purchases and asked for the check. I am assuming the server was relatively new because he never caught on to our poor experience... even when the majority of the food wasn’t consumed and we declined to go boxes. That’s usually a pretty good hint we weren’t happy. Once again, I reiterate... never saw the manager. Must have been hanging in the office where there was actual air conditioning! I was embarrassed that I brought my family here to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Classy place and excellent food. The manager, waitress and hostess all went out of their way to treat me like a queen while I was in town dining alone. The higher end meal is just worth it. And you can die happy after eating the cheescake....😄

The service was horrible! Very slow! I am very disappointed to write this review, because McCormick & Schmick’s is a special restaurant for my husband and I, as we have spent many years celebrating special occasions at this restaurant. We had 5:30 reservations for dinner so that we could attend a play at 7pm. We arrived at 5:15pm and the hostess told us we couldn’t be seated yet, to go wait in the bar area (she was not very friendly and the dining room was almost empty). We go the bar area, sit down, and order drinks. The hostess comes over to say she can seat us now, we tell her we are still waiting on drinks, and we ask if they can transfer the bar tab and bring the drinks to our table in the dining room. The hostess rudely said, “no you need to get your drinks and close out at the bar before you can go to your table.” We do exactly as she says and then go back to the hostess stand with our drinks in hand. We wait at the hostess stand while she has to figure out where to sit us. The restaurant only had a few tables full at this point because it is only 5:30pm. The hostess was rude to us the entire time. We sit down and put our order in right away and inform the waiter we have a show to catch at 7pm. We got our appetizers in a timely manner, but then the rest of the meal took an extremely long time and the waiter was nowhere to be found when we needed him. I had to go up to the hostess stand to ask if she could find our waiter for us because we needed to get our checks and dessert so we could leave- the hostess responded with, "we are very busy tonight". The restaurant was not busy at all, maybe 30% full if that. We asked for the check at 6:25 and our waiter disappeared for 15 minutes before he comes back with the check and desserts. Then he was slow bringing the credit card receipts back to us. The slow service was very disappointing and made our evening very stressful. The food was good, but the poor service and rude staff will make us find a new restaurant. I want to make others aware of the poor service at the restaurant, so that no one goes through the trouble we went through.

Wait staff was very attentive, knowledgeable and polite. Food was Devine! We had the Lobster Cobb, Ahi Tuna App(loved the pickled peppers, we were a little disappointed on the serving size but taste made up for it), a cup of Lobster Bisque, Crab Cakes with a Devine mederterrian style orzo with shredded carrots and geeen beans, and for desert “A Bag Of Chocolate”. That was defiantly too much food for two(we wanted to order everything)! Our server Sim suggested a red Wine that was perfect for our Taste! We would defiantly visit again! Thankx Sim!

Our server was great! The host did not have our reservation though! It wasn’t that busy and the food took about 40 minutes! The steak was great but my husbands fish was cold and bland! For a place of this caliber I thought I would have a much better dining experience

Happy Hour Menu is great and food was good. First time there however customer service not that great, waitress wasn't attentive or friendly. Took awhile for someone to acknowledge us waiting to be serve and it wasn't crowded. We sat outside on patio and had to stop another waiter for service. Staff could benefit from extra training on customer seevice.

Was there on my birthday. Recommended by Brittany. Wow! Thank-you Martin & staff. Hard to describe such an awesome meal, highly recommend...

My bacon wrapped shrimp and my almond salad was to die for. that sweet red wine did my life good . It hit me about 1 her later and that was all she wrote 😂😂😂

Pleasant staff. Awesome appetizers and drinks. I ordered a med well steak. It was more med well so that was disappointing. My husband got tuna. It was delicious but half of it was full of tendons and couldn't be eaten. The sauteed mushrooms and spinach was divine. The lobster mash had a lot of lobster and the sauce was perfection but the potatoes were extremely firm. More pluses than minuses without a doubt. Thank you!

My favorite restaurant but last night they missed the mark. The oysters are still the best in the city. However my actual meal was not that good. The calamari was very oily like they cooked it and recooked it. Then the salmon looked cut in half. I’m thinking they didn’t put forth much effort due to it being restaurant week. I didn’t give a lower rating because I still love the food. Just didn’t meet my standards this time.

The service and quality of food was bad. Mahi mahi was just frozen fish with no flavor. A steak a guest returned and cut into. Was then sent out of the kitchen to another guest in our party. Really? Took them 45 min to bring bread. And put on inexperience servers for a party of 17. After I spent well over 1800 dollars. They offered a free appetizer. Really?? Never step foot again in there.

My friend and I went to the South Tryon Street location last night for dinner. Loved the valet parking. We first had a drink at the beautiful bar with Brandt and Cat the bartenders. My friend had wine and I had a Ketel One martini with olives, and a cosmopolitan, they were made to perfection. Our reservations were at 7:00 so they came and told us our table was ready. Our server was Emmanuel and his was magnificent. He explained the menu and was very detailed and knowledgeable. We ordered the shrimp kisses and twelve oysters for our appetizers, they were fabulous. We both ordered the Signature Trout for our entree and it was delicious. It was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is awesome and so are all the folks that work there. We will definitely be going back.

Excellent food,ambiance and customer service on point, very attentive and love how the staff let me know of such things as happy hour the prices and the time. I enjoyed myself and will return

I had a great day with lunch and fellowship with other veterans. The food was spectacular. I had salmon rigatoni. Oh my, my, my!! Thank you for supporting our veteran population.
