I'm not really a burger connoisseur but I had to try this place because I've heard so much about it. It's billed as one of the best burger joints in Charlotte, a long standing establishment. It's take out only and you can either sit in your car and eat or stand under one of their shelters to eat. It's a no frills joints, all about the burger. I got the double bacon burger. It was good. Great place. I love the simplicity. There’s no inside area (except for a line to order food) and you either sit at picnic tables or in your car to eat. So many people come here during lunch so make sure you arrive around 11 am otherwise there will be a line. It’s basic food and a reasonable price (considering it’s right in NoDa) and has been there 50+ years. I hope it never goes away. Keep in mind that ordering ahead is ineffective. They won’t cook it until you get there. They also don’t accept calls ins past 2 pm. MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT THEY ARE CASH ONLY. Don’t pay that ATM fee unless it’s more convenient for you to.

Here’s the good news: it’s a killer cheeseburger on a soft bun that holds up, and fried potato wedges that are salted properly!!! Standing at a picnic table under a tree on a sunny day having lunch IS AWESOME!!! The experience is worth it. Now, I got a cheeseburger “with the works,” and honestly, it was okay. I expect enough chili sauce on my burger to drip down my arm at least a little bit. I expected it to be loaded with enough chili to taste it and even need an extra napkin. But that’s not this place. So I went with the wrong expectations, and for that I don’t want to take away from my review.
