First over all what an amazing place!! I can’t believe I found such a fantastic upscale restaurant. My wife and I had dinner here last night 10/9/2018. It was my wife’s birthday and so it had to be a special meal and that’s just what we got. The waiting staff were all friendly and courteous. Heather was our main waitress, she was very attentive, was able to explain the courses to us, was dressed very smartly and represented the restaurant very well.
My wife had the crab croquets to start which she absolutely adored, I had the chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) which was to dead for! The crunch and slightly salty coating was sublime and the cook was prefect.
For main my wife had the halibut, which she enjoyed a great deal and she said it was cool perfectly. I had the duck which I had medium and that’s exactly how it was cooked, the duck skin was lovely and crisp. The duck was accompanied with rainbow carrots and a semi-sweet carrot purée which paired very well with the soy marinated duck.
For dessert my wife had the warm doughnuts served with a green tea semifreddo, our waitress Heather had popped a little candle in the doughnut and wished my wife happy birthday which was a lovely gesture. My wife enjoyed the doughnut and green tea combination but did feel that semifreddo could have been a small portion. I had the Kabocha Pumpkin Pie it’s was lightly sweet it was served with shards of pumpkin seed honeycomb it was amazing and very beautifully presented.
We finished the meal of with a coffee which was also very good.
My wife and I both came to the conclusion that the whole experience from start to finish was one of our best. The best meal with the best waitress and in the best restaurants.
We didn’t wait to get home before booking a table of our 7th anniversary in May and we are so looking forward to celebrating the occasion in the wonderful restaurant!
I’ve eaten at Upstream multiple times over the past several years and have always enjoyed the ambiance, service, and menu. Tonight my husband and I went for an early valentines and were greeted with an entirely new menu and chef, both of which blew us away. Chef Gene is a true genius with flavor and creativity. We were both so impressed we had to meet the man behind the food. He spent a few minutes with us explaining his background and vision for the menu and was so completely hospitable and charming. My husband and I love trying out new eateries and it takes a lot to impress us this much. So excited to taste the rest of this new menu and any new recipes that come out of Upstreams kitchen! If you haven’t been in awhile, prepare to
be amazed!! You will love the entire experience, we got wonderful recommendations and service from our waiter, Matt, and we were even attended to by the service manager.
Just love to see teamwork and passion like this.
