Liked the ambiance and location. Food is decent. Tad pricey for the taste palette but overall the service was good. Wish the seating and lighting arrangement was tad better with regards to the space they have. Would sorta recommend a visit at least once to this eatery, just for the combination of flavors they have. Not truly authentic Indian taste, but more of a western fusion touch to it.
Loved our meal, great flavor, quick service. Casual but upscale at the same time. There is a covered patio as well as an uncovered patio. My wife loves extra spicy and this delivered.
Update: 2nd time confirmed how much we love this place. Service is excellent. The lamb chops were some of the best lamb I’ve ever had in my life.
Awesome restaurant with delicious vegan options.
Samosas, Yukon Gold Green Beans Mushroom Curry (medium spicy), Konkan Spiced Vegetable Curry, Tofu Vegetable Kesari
We enjoyed the high end setting along with the service which was personable.
Food & atmosphere were phenomenal. Amazing Indian food with a modern twist! Service was a little slow but food is worth the wait, I promise!
A very Americanized presentation on Indian food. I was recommended the chilli gobi starter appetizer which was meh. The lamb chat was very good. Chicken Malai curry was average and lamb chops were good. Achari paratha was great The gazar rabri dish was decent with the gajar halwa being great and what was provided for rabri was an ice cream. Drinks were decent. The ambience is too dark and with seats so close together and with people in the 2 seaters , its not a great experience. Service was great !!!
This is the best restaurant in Charlotte hands down. Ever since the first visit, we have been back at least 8 or 9 times. Every dish is a winner, you can’t go wrong. The staff is attentive and friendly. Could recommend it more.
This was my second time at this restaurant. I will say that their ambiance is good. The art work gives it a cozy feeling. The setting is very comfortable and we aren’t interrupted frequently. The food was great everyone enjoyed their meals. My eldest sister and I had curried lamb with nan which was extremely good! My second sister had shrimp and looked so could I get eat it off her plate and except that I don’t and can’t eat shrimp. I snap a pic of her dish!
Delicious meal here — especially if you love the flavors of Indian cuisine. We enjoyed the Potli Samosa appetizer and the Chicken Mirchi-Malai.
I dine at this restaurant every time I visit Charlotte. The atmosphere is cozy, dimly lit, and not excessively loud. The wait staff are very attentive without being overbearing, the food always comes out hot, and let me tell you, I don’t like cauliflower, like, I hate it. But the way they make it? That’s the only way I’ll eat it. I do recommend making a reservation later in the evening (it can get busy), and there are steps leading up to the restaurant and the tables inside are rather close together. I’ve never had to ask for accommodations there, but felt you should know that if you are using a wheel chair or a scooter of some kind, it might be prudent to call ahead, or to get take-out. Bathrooms were clean too! Always a plus. Anyway, 5/5 👍
A good option for people looking to try Indian flavors but afraid of Indian spice levels.. all the items were flavorful but at the same time mild spicy. Only thing I would expect from restaurant is to add a Biryani item in the menu. Cocktails were good as well
Copper Modern Indian was a quite the place regarding location. Copper is inside an old house turned restaurant. The house is still quite sectioned off much like it would have been with the original homes layout. Decorated with hand crafted child like portraits around the place including the bathroom.
Pricing the food is much like you're typical mom and pop Indian shop you found around Charlotte. The flavor was definitely there. Delicious with every bite. The food was plated beautiful considering we all know how good but mess Indian food can be at times once placed on a plate or bowl.
The only concern I may have is the serving sizes. It's not a large quantity for the price regarding the protein. Tons of gravy/sauce but not at all enough protein to fill anyone up without eating tons of the rice.
All in all it was nice to visit an upscale India restaurant that serves cocktails, wine and liquor.
This place was amazing! Everyone LOVED their dish (seafood medley, veggie goat cheese croquettes, lamb, and chicken Masala). Honestly, nothing bad to say.
I've eaten a lot of Indian Food and this modern cuisine was delicious and many options we hadn't tried before. The service was also great and the staff was very personable.
The seafood medley and veggie croquettes were the big stars, but also try the cauliflower first course.
Great date night Indian! Came here with some girlfriends are we all enjoyed it. The dining space was a little crowded, I like a little more space between tables but in this venue I think they’ve maximized what they have. We ordered the samosas and cauliflower based on our server’s recommendations. The samosas weren’t anything special but I could’ve eaten a whole plate of the cauliflower. We moved on to the kheema bhatura chaat. It was almost like an Indian nacho. We got the seafood medley and the murgh tikka masala. The seafood medley was unique - grapes and figs in a white sauce with seafood. Never would’ve put all that together but it was great. I would definitely come back here to try some other things.
Not your usual Indian restaurant. Initial impressions of building and cleanliness inside were great. Service excellent, staff very happy to describe the food on the menu. Polite and very efficient without being overbearing.
Food was fresh, from the appetizers through the entree everything was fantastic.
100% recommendation to anyone wanting that "special meal."
My family ate the following: Disco Bhatura, Tawa Roasted Scallops, Rechado Prawns, Murgh Tikka Masala, Chicken Mirchi-Malai, and Chana Masala. EVERYTHING was incredible. The flavors were very bold and amazingly unique.
My only complaint is the server started off very cold as if we were literally an annoyance. However, he warmed up to us and ended up providing phenomenal service.
I’ve eaten A LOT of Indian food in many countries and this was among the best I’ve ever had.
If you enjoy Indian food, you’ll want to go here when you’re in Charlotte!
Indian restaurants typically just satisfy your taste buds. Very rarely do they get the whole dining experience right. Copper is impressive in every regard, from delicious modern take in classic Indian cuisine, presented in palatable fashion and served in a historic building. Everything we ordered was sumptuous, and especially liked the chicken Mirch Malai. Definitely check them out, I will everytime I am back in Charlotte.
Second time at Copper and I do love the ambiance and vibe of this spot but the amount of protein in each dish was disappointing (chicken and lamb dishes) and portions are just a bit small overall. Great service, and wonderful flavors. Just felt like they try to fill you up on rice and not the main dishes.
