Very friendly workers here. Clean restaurant and very convenient to the light rail station. Also close to the spectrum center. Hamburger was very good and was cooked to order. Waitress was a little overworked but was able to take care of us in a satisfying manner. Haven't tried the barbecue yet, but I'm sure I will very soon. Don't think you will be disappointed eating here.
It was different from Kansas City BBQ, but the meat was nice and tender and they had 5 different sauces. The deviled eggs were great, and the cheesy corm was awesome. In addition, they had a lot of local beers to choose from
The pulled pork was excellent, however I found the sauce a bit too varied. Some of it may be my preference on BBQ places to stick with a particular sauce but I think too many sauces distracts from the quality of the meat itself.
Service was great, and the portions were an excellent amount. I appreciate when restaurants don't skimp, but don't overload. It's a good balance Queen City Q accomplished.
One thought to the restaurant on the sauces. Though they were excellent, I found it difficult to try the different ones while keeping the sandwich intact. Makes me think people may try one or two, then not want to keep trying at the risk of losing their sandwich. Perhaps have the sandwich buns connected at one end instead? Might make things easier.
Great casual BBQ spot, ample seating in a laid back environment. The pulled pork sandwich was good, pork was well cooked (tender) but could use a little flavour/seasoning, buns were soft; fries & slaw were great. As for drinks, the QRITA was absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend!
Came here from south Florida with the Family and ordered the all American burger with 2 deserts. Kelly was an excellent server. Hopefully will be back soon. Recommend to all passing by North Carolina.
It's a nice spot. Free parking before 5 in the parking deck right past their entrance. Didn't know that until after we parked down the road. Now the food... I'm super critical about hush puppies do allow me to say they have some of the best around! Pass on the Mac n cheese (lacking in the cheese department). Me and the wife Ordered the 2 meats course. We combination of 3. The pork had good taste but texture was somewhat dry. Not only in your mouth but it looked somewhat stale. Nothing the sauce could liven up tho. Which brings me to the second part, the sauce. Three main sauces, Lexington, Eastern, and their signature. Each were vinegar base and honestly after a few bites, they started tasting similarly. They had a rib sauce which was basically the same but with a tangy and thicker base. Not bad but nothing to speak on. The brisket was disappointing but honestly it was more because of how I like my brisket opposed to how they cooked it. Delicious smoky flavor, nice crispy charred touches, and a tolerable bite texture. BUT, it seemed like they precut the slices and recooked it. Also they added a sweet sauce to their brisket. Big no no for me. Ribs - St louis style thicker ribs. Nicely basted. Easy pull away bite but not fall off the bone with a nice chew texture. BUT, meat was somewhat dry and not as tender and juicy. Food was great and portions were generous but it left me wanting. Customer service was great by the way. Cool staff!!
I decided to try Queen City Q during dollarfest. It's on the other side of uptown from where I work, but I have been wanting to try their barbecue.
My to-go order was ready as soon as I walked in. No waiting at all. It was still hot and fresh. I ordered the BBQ Sandwich with a side of Mac n Cheese. The sandwich was very good and what I expected for pulled-pork. The Mac n cheese was just as good as the sandwich.
I didn't have time to really give the place a look-over, but as a to-go service, I was impressed. The orders we all together at the front and very organized and labeled. I would highly recommend this place if you want to place a to-go order and don't want any hassle.
Tasty food, great beer selection and fantastic service.
UPDATE: went here a second time and the service was sub par. I sat for a while with an empty beer glass at the bar trying to flag down one of the 3 bartenders and it wasn't that busy. Definitely would recommend going for lunch instead of dinner as the experience was better.
The food was absolutely delicious. I had the brisket with fried okra and house-made chips. It's a bit pricey but we worth the money!!
Delicious food and friendly staff! I got the pulled pork and they brought me 5 different sauces, at least two of them were my favorite.
