Not only is the bar giving cozy old times tavern vibes, but the neighborhood is absolutely beautiful. I was here during the holiday season and it was absolutely charming to walk around the neighborhood.
Food is solid, service friendly, lot of regulars. Great place for a comfort meal.
Haven't been in a while...but it hasn't lost its touch! Located in the historic district of Charlotte it looks like a storybook! You will never be disappointed! I always recommend the she-crab soup, the blackened catfish entree, London broil...it can be a bit tendony sometimes but it is still amazing. Also the honey chicken pasta. For dessert, the oreo cheesecake! The establishment is small can get a little tight in there, but WORTH IT! ONLY 1 STALL bathrooms so keep that in mind when you're drinking🍸. The staff is always so sweet and attentive! Prices varies depending on what you order.
Such a cute romantic place to go for a first or second date…. And then come back again. The food is amazing. What it is IS soooo good. Great selection beers on tap also. They’re usually pretty busy so you might have a little wait but what is perfect about that is you can grab a drink from the bar or take a stroll around the beautiful neighborhood it hides in. Five stars every time!!!!!!!
I'm always on search of good pasta so when i saw a few reviews mention the honey glazed chicken pasta i wanted to give it a try and it did not disappoint! Great portion size & it was delicious! Will definitely be back for the pasta. My fiance' said his hoagie was good! Cute location, i could see how parking could be difficult but we were able to find a close spot.
I always love it when we come here. This is always been a place me and my family goes to. The staff is always so nice, friendly and up on their tables. Most importantly, every time we enter the door someone is always right their to greet us and are ready to seat us immediately. This makes it so welcoming for the guests. We have also got all the laughs just as they do with the pole in the woman's bathroom. The amount of times I even almost run into it is funny 🤣 and I know that it is there. 🤣🤣 Thank you to all Alexandra Michael's staff! It was and still will be an absolute blessing to go there. 🤗
Stopped here for lunch with some friends. This was a place that was on my list of places I’ve been wanting to try. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. I was impressed by how delicious and tender the chicken was and the fries were legit homemade french fries!! They used a
pretzel bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
Service was quick and great as expected. The place is a unique looking restaurant/pub. I look forward to going back and trying more from their menu. They made a really good chicken sandwich so I’m sure the rest of the food is phenomenal!
I would highly recommend stopping here for lunch/dinner or just a drink!
This place is amazing! Our server Jaime was absolutely great. She recommended menu items even without us having to ask. My wife and I shared the fried pickles and let me tell you, those pickles are a must-try. Hear me now, believe me later! My wife got a salad and it was huge. I got the blackened fish sandwich with fries. Anytime I come to Charlotte and want to go out to eat I'm going to Alexander Michael's and so should you.
Nice, old time, pub feeling. Parking is non-existant, so prepare for a hike to build up your appetite. You're in luck, food is great. Service was very good, and pleasant to deal with. Pricing is a bit on the high side, but not out of line. Place has some history as well. I'd recommend this place.
I couldn't wait to try this restaurant. The reviews were good, and the pictures showed a cozy atmosphere. So i convinced my husband it would be worth the 15 min drive. We were not disappointed. Alexander Michael's is located on the out skirts of the city in a small picturesque neighborhood. The owner greeted us, and we had a short wait. Once seated, Brittany came to our table and welcomed us. She was awesome! After a few suggestions by Brittany, we ordered. The food came out quickly and was fresh. Everything was so delicious, and service was top-notch! The restaurant was warm and cozy. We will definitely return!
We ordered the black bean hummus, fried pickles, veggie burger and blackened cat fish.
Everything tasted great. The hummus was very mild and it lacked extra flavor. The veggie burger also needs a little more of seasoning. I removed the red onion because the flavor of the quinoa pattie was overpowered by the onion. The onion rings were great. My husband had the fish and he really liked it. There are very few vegetarian options, including the black bean hummus and veggie burger.
We ordered the warm brownie for desserts and this was the only item that didn't impress us. It was more of a dry chocolate cake. Overall we liked everything about this place. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The waiter was very polite and knew the menu. The food was ready in a timely manner. The place was clean. Parking can be difficult on a busy day. We spent $60 including tip. We will definitely be back to try other items.
Their reputation speaks for itself. The food is really great but not pretentious. Given its location, it’s well known and the setting, I could see a restaurant trying to overcharge but it’s very reasonably priced.
Based on the 4.5 rating at this place we gave it a try to dine in and it was worth it. The ratings didn't lie. I had never been to Charlotte before and based most of our dining on customer ratings. Well, you can rest assure that dining at this place will not disappoint. I had pasta and it was delicious. The other two colleagues gave positive feedback on what they had too. I would recommend to try out this place if you're ever in Charlotte. We stayed at the UNC area and it took us about half hour to get there but it was worth it. Highly recommended.
What a great find. I'm from Louisiana and normally do not order seafood outside of state, but decided to give it a try. The blackened fish sandwich was better than most I have had in New Orleans. Atmosphere was cozy and homely feel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If I travel back to Charlotte in the future, this will be a must, every time!!!!. Great Job to the owner and staff!!!
What a hidden gem! We were passing through Charlotte and wanted a "local" place for dinner. We found Alexander Michael's and we are so happy we did. It's in the adorable 4th Ward district. We got there at 7:45 on a Wednesday night and there was a constant stream of people coming in and out. It seemed like the staff knew everyone who walked in the door - a real local place! Our waitress was attentive and so friendly. The food was amazing and the service was great. We sat down and my daughter was upset that the meal she saw online wasn't on the menu so we asked. They of course said they'd make it! We started with the black bean hummus which was so tasty and came with pita wedges and some vegetables. I got the feta chicken (the waitresses favorite dish) and I can see why! My daughter got a vegetable pita with onion rings. The portion sizes were great and the price is so reasonable. If we are ever back in Charlotte, we would definitely go back.

This place is a hidden Gem! You have to try this place. From the very attractive neighborhood to the old building it's in. The atmosphere of an old time pub is awesome and the food is great. The service is top notch! The Shrimp Marsala was awesome and the London Broil Flank Steak was ok.
I LOVE this building! It’s in this little section of 4th ward that is just beautiful. You feel so tucked away from the city, it’s almost hard to imagine you’re right in the middle of it.
The food is good (I’m a sucker for tater tots and theirs are great). I have the palette of a child, so I mostly love this place for the aesthetics and care slightly less about the food itself. BUT I do have a good friend who is a food snob, and he enjoys this place, so I’m going to take that as high praise for the food too!
Always a delight to be here.
We ordered What it is, Black bean burger and for the first time dessert - Blueberry Lemon cheesecake. The burger wasn’t as I expected but that’s fine we tried something new.
What it is is my all time favorite dish to order. This time ordered extra sauce yummm.
Blueberry Lemon cheesecake was amazing. Perfect balance of flavors for us. Don’t think twice just order it!
Such a wonderful spot in Charlotte nestled amongst the historic Victoria era homes in the 4th Ward. Owner on site seating patrons, great service, and fantastic food made this a memorable Friday night. Now I know why nobody told me about this place...they wanted it all for themselves! Try the jalapeno beer...it's awesome.
