It's nice to have a local place to eat that has found the balance of consistently great food but enough variety to have options. I also like that as a customer with extensive food allergies, it's never been an issue to listen to my long list of no go's to make sure I can enjoy dinner with the family. That's something that is genuinely hard to find! Definitely a Charlotte gem
I can't believe I have never gone here before today. This was amazing! The prices were right on and the food melts in your mouth. I don't usually post reviews, but this place deserves it! If you haven't tried this hurry up before they close for the season. It's worth it.
Real delicious food, served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Excellent unique sauces. The brisket was among the best I've had - tasty and still moist enough i didn't need smothering in sauce. Looking forward to many return visits!

Delicious pulled pork!! Very juicy and very tender with just the right amount of smokey flavor!! Had the pulled pork sandwich for lunch with my friend and then we went back a couple hours later and I got a pound of it to go. Just ate another sandwich with it, and there is LOTS left!! They make sure your container is packed full! So so yummy!! Their homemade sauces are really good too! My favorite is the Bourbon BBQ sauce. Mmmmmm Mmmmmm. If you haven't been there yet, you need to go very soon! I give you 5 stars Whistlepig BBQ!!! ***** Also, the owners are really nice and aim to please. Jason came to our table and asked how everything was. We said it was delicious! My friend had the cajun chicken and she said that was really good with just enough heat for her! There were two other people sharing our table and they had the brisket and the lady said it was really really delicious!! She is from Texas so she knows brisket, she said, and it was as good as it is down there! Kudos Jason and The Whistlepig family!!
I got 8 pounds of brisket last week for a party this week. I had friends coming for Texas and they always tell me their brisket is the best. Well they were knocked off their seats when they tasted the Whistlepig brisket. I was told how to freeze it and reheat it and it was a wonderful as getting it fresh. My Texas and Tennessee friends said "it was a near perfect as any they had had before". Thank you so much for making the party a huge success!!!
Who would've thought the best BBQ outside of Memphis would be in my own home town? And cute location, to boot? You had me at the pulled pork with mango sauce! Highly recommend!

stopped today Got a pulled pork sandwhich. Very Tasty very good smoke ring in meat. nice mild flavor. will try the Brisket sandwhich next time.
My son had the Chili and said that it was the best Chili he has ever eaten. I really enjoyed the sliders. Nice family business.
So smokey and tasty! Highly recommend the Frankenswine (beef frank topped with pulled pork, be sure to add open pit sauce) with a side of slaw. The perfect summer lunch!
Visited the Whistlepig for the first time tonight, and I'll definitely be back! The pulled pork was delicious with a perfect balance of smoke and sauce on the meat. The macaroni and cheese was good, and the corn cakes with honey butter were out of this world. They're a savory and sweet blend, (so if you're looking for sweet on sweet you'all be disappointed) but they are great!
They have THE BEST pulled pork sandwich in Michigan. Owners/staff are very friendly too�

I had the ribs again today! Their food is delicious and the service is fantastic.
We went with the knowledge that some of the menu might be unavailable due to the fact that we went around 5:30 on a Friday but it didn’t appear that anything was sold out! We all were able to get what we wanted AND they specially made meal not on their menu for a family member who has a spice allergy. The best part is, we didn’t even ask them to do that, they just offered to accommodate us. The food comes out in little containers that make you think it won’t be enough, but it definitely is enough and it was amazing! I would highly recommend this place especially if you want to go outside the norm 😋😍
Better than any BBQ you can find in lansing by alot. Maybe it was a good cut. Maybe its skill. These guys are the real deal. Brisket is second to none. Ribs excellent and pink all the way through yet still very moist with a good amount of pull off the bone. Pit beans some of the best i have had. Faygo redpop in the cooler. Tons of sauce choices. Decent pricing. Daily specials. Nice folks. What more could you ask for?
The brisket was really good, especially the burned ends. Liked the array of sauces, especially the mango.
My son complained that the fries weren't true fries, but redskin wedges. He still liked them, but wished it said wedges instead of fries. I think he should just get over hinself.
Best BBQ around! I always get the pulled pork but my husband usually tries the specials and we’re never disappointed. The only negative is that it’s not open year round!
Ordered food for a graduation party. Customer service was excellent and super easy to work with. Everyone loved the delicious pulled pork with a variety of sauces, as well as the Mac and cheese. Highly recommended!
Arrived and stood in line with the locals. We are from Ohio but they didn't hold that against us. Had a history lession from the man in front of me. He clued me in on what was best.
If you want some seriously good barbeque, this is the place. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich here.
Edit - I change my recommendation to the ribs, but whatever you get, you cannot go wrong.
A tiny hole in the wall bbq place that I was lucky to find. Food is really great. The beans and loaded fries were delicious and the smoked brisket fattie was to die for!
We had a great experience at Whistlepig! The food was outstanding (I had the Trainwreck fries w/ chicken), the staff was friendly and accommodating. They even made a dish special for one of our family who has pepper allergies.
Great food but poor presentation. Our BBQ sandwiches where in the same paper container as the cold slaw making the sandwich a soggy mess on the bottom.
Hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had outside of Texas. The chef is phenomenal, every dish I’ve had here is awesome, well cooked and more than worth the money. The hot sauces from bourbon to mustard to Ride the Lightning or Napalm are all different flavors and fitting depending on your preference or spice tolerance. Either way the rack of ribs is my favorite dish with a side of coleslaw. Might be a long wait but it is well worth it.

Excellent BBQ with a variety of special offerings most weeks. Don't expect to go late in the afternoon as they generally sell out early. Check their Facebook page before travelling far and to see their weekly menu specials but, I enjoy it every time. The only issue is their limited parking.

Best BBQ hands down I look forward to eating here every weekend when they’re open. That white lighting bbq sauce is great and the pit beans are out of this world. Everything I’ve ate from here has been great. My favorite bbq joint hands down.

Food is good. My meth lab blew up across the street, and one of the employees allowed me to cook my meth in the back of the restaurant! 😊 10/10 would go again!

This is the best BBQ in the greater Lansing area period. The owners are always trying new and unique recipes and prices are the best around. Be sure to get there early because sometimes as is shows how good they are they sell out!
I highly recommend this place! I have some pretty significant food allergies, and they offered to make me fresh potato wedges and a half pound of chicken to cater to these allergies. It came out fresh, hot, and was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this place if you have food allergies! Thank you Whistlepig BBQ!
