We stayed at Captain John's Motel off Boat Basin Way and there were no restaurants open for breakfast. We spotted this little coffee shop that was open and thought "At least we can get a cup of coffee until we find a restaurant elsewhere." Oh my goodness! Not only did they have the best coffee and latte -- but an amazing assortment of delicious pastries! We had an apple fritter and a bran muffin slathered in pecans and honey. The owner was so friendly and sweet -- and we were so happy to have found this place! This was one of those vacations where EVERYTHING went wrong -- but the alternatives turned out to be better than what we had planned! If we lived in the Coos Bay area, we would definitely be regulars at this coffee shop! And we will definitely return here on our next trip to Coos Bay. (We are feeling kind of bad though that in our morning stupor, we forgot to leave a tip -- SO sorry! Next time we'll leave double!)
My fiancé and I dropped by Bayside Coffee to visit his high school teacher, Doug Vesey. We got to sample some tea and loved it so we ended up buying bags of teas and a tea pot as well as fresh ground coffee that Doug roasts by hand! Twila made us great drinks to enjoy while we got out of the rain for a little bit. Everything was delicious and now I'm addicted to the peach ginger tea!! Great, friendly atmosphere and delicious coffee and tea! We'll definitely be back!!!
great owners... Awesome customer service....best coffee around....
I always thought all coffee's were somewhat a like...boy was I wrong! I was lucky enough to have received a gift from Doug and Twila at our family reunion we held in July in Canada. The rich, smooth taste and the smell, while brewing OMG, the whole house has that heavenly smell. I now have no more so they need to come back for a visit because Maxwell House just doesn't do it anymore. xxx
We stopped a couple of times recently while in Charleston to visit with Doug and Twila and have a great cuppa! Cute little shop with friendly proprietors. Do visit them!
Yummy Coffee, best I've ever tasted, Good people and great atmosphere.
Great coffee and friendly people. Relaxing atmosphere and the smell is heavenly.
I tried my first cup of coffee from Bayside Coffee and I was very impressed with the flavor. I am anxious to try other flavors
I am a coffee fanatic, and let me just say they have rich aromas and flavors! The customer service is amazing and I love the atmosphere. It is such a great find in the world of coffee! Stop in and give them a try-you won't regret it!
Wow!!! Coffee was out of this world! Sorry, Coffee Culture (Corvallis,OR), you've met your match on a regular cup of coffee. Nice and mellow, no bitterness, hardly sweetened, organic, fair trade, and roasted on sight. Ran by two of the most fantastic people who have a passion for people. This is what coffee is about. Thanks Doug and Twila! See you soon for another cup and a bag of beans!

I absolutely love this coffee. It has a smooth wonderful taste. And I do not get that "coffee headache" if I miss a cup. Great customer service too.

Working to Change The World One Coffee at A Time!!
Bayside coffee is a rare find in a town the size of Charleston. They roast their own coffee in shop and make delicious drinks.
We visited here while camping and tried their hot chocolate and coffees. For iced coffee they go the extra mile and serve it with coffee ice cubes.
It is with sadness I report that they are closing the Charleston shop on July 30th. I wish them best of luck and look forward to any future coffee shops they may open!
Great customer service, very kind people. Smoothies are a little sweet for my taste, but the coffee is delicious. Ran a little different, but that's not bad.
He roasts his coffee right in the shop with his own roaster. He orders the unroasted beans from other countries in 250# bags. The roasted beans are packaged for sale. Quant store with very friendly owner, and good luck with the puzzles. If you can figure them out before your coffee is done you get $5 off.
Doug was so wonderful. I asked for what he would want to drink and it was perfect! He was full of great stories, especially if you love hockey! Definitely worth the stop if you are visiting the area.
A very nice guy runs this nice coffee spot! Was grateful to some of the guidance he provided to my boyfriend and I who were in the midst of a long bike adventure and of course grateful for his good latte. I hope that anyone passing through Charleston, Oregon can stop by here for coffee and a scone - it was a gem in this town.
The best coffee I have ever tasted. I love that all of their coffee and tea is organic and fair trade too! A cozy place to sit. You can tell a lot of thought went into everything whether it's items for purchase or signing their guest book made out of an old ship log. Local artists are also supported with beautiful ceramics and souvenir cards available and many other fair trade items as well.
Small batch roasted coffee served by a friendly staff. The fresh ground coffee is great to take home, well worth the cost if you can afford it! If you want an iced drink they use coffee ice cubes too!
Definitely love the Local variety of goodies aside from just their coffees and other drinks 💜💚 Not only that, the menu covers a good variety, including Gluten Free and kids drinks 💜💚 I love their Facebook page so I can see when they get new things in too! Definitely family vibes, highly recommend!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit with the barista as he made our choices of coffee. We ordered a Charleston Chai, Honey lavender latte and a Breve with caramel. All were really good!
Great coffee shop. The coffee was great and The staff was very kind and welcoming. Asked us where we were from and also talked to us about stuff we could do while visiting. Were very positive and helpful :)
I am the marketing director for a senior housing company here in Oregon. Bayside coffee did an excellent job in providing custom coffee bags for us. I would highly recommend them, as they have been a big hit with all of the folks we give them to.
The owners were knowledgeable and genuine. They asked us where we are from - and recommended places along the coast for us to go! The coffee tastes incredible and fresh, one of the best mochas we've ever had!
We are admittedly coffee snobs from Seattle and were not expecting top notch espresso in a tiny town like this but it certainly was! Excellent service, yummy cookie and perfect coffee.
Great Coffee in a quaint little town. The owner was so welcoming and friendly that instead of taking our to go cups to go we enjoyed our coffee and chat in instead. This is also a great place to pick up a gift or souvenir.
Excellent house roasted coffee roasted and served by super friendly staff! Casual setting makes you feel at home! You may even have a chance to meet local legend and owner Doug !
While on a coastal trip from the Rogue Valley, the best espresso came from Bayside Coffee. Friendly folks behind the counter are ready for custom orders, and with a smile. Definitely marking this one on my map!
Great coffee, great atmosphere, great people and the only ones open in the morning. They know coffee and the coffee customers. And this customer wants his coffee when he wakes up not waiting until 9:00 when the other surrounding coffee shops decided to open. I
My boyfriend and I were out walking our dog one morning and we stopped at this little water stop for bikers and hikers that's just to the right of the entrance here outside. We stopped to get our dog some water as there is a dog water dish that stays there permanently. The owner of Bayside Coffee came out and offered us some Coffee. I guess they had some sort of "pay it forward" thing where people can buy items off the menu for the next costumers. He must've had a lot of items saved up because we each got some organic oatmeal in flavors of our choosing as well. We got to sit outside with our pup and enjoy the morning with fresh hot coffee and organic oatmeal made here in Oregon as well! We definitely came back to "pay it forward" too!
Great little coffee shop. owner roasts his own small batch coffee and it is delicious! Super friendly service!
