Review The Break - Charleston

Pinball, Air Hockey, Skeeball, Hoops, Darts, Pool, and dozens of TVs. This place has it all! The atmosphere was the best bar we have been to in a long time, everybody was very polite and minded themselves. Food and drinks were all great, and the bartenders were very nice and quick!

Great local place. They were hosting a pinball tournament when we arrived!! How cool is that! Plenty of pinball, skee ball air hockey and basketball games, plus 4 pool tables and darts! Music, chill crowd, good drinks, decent prices. Plenty of parking available as well. Definitely recommend!

Friendliest staff on Earth. Never a long wait for a drink even when the joint is packed on a busy game day. If you can't relax and have fun here, rinse and repeat. You only live once; try livin' it up here!

Went there for the first time to shoot some pool. Bartender was fantastic. He was smiling and had a great personality. Younger peeps that came in to eat and play darts were a little rude to take over our table that our drinks and phones were on.

While the population is young, the atmosphere is great. The bartenders are so attentive and kind. The pingball machines are a blast. There is so much to do!

Cheesesteak is awesome! It's not very often I can find a Cheesesteak like that of Philly outside of South Jersey or North Delaware that compares. This was a very pleasant surprise! The Totchos were really good as well. Who wouldn't like tater tots with bacon homemade queso, chives, and sour cream. Cool atmosphere with plenty to do.

This place was amazing and the food is out of this world! If you love pinball, well don't look any further, they have many to choose from and multiple pool tables too! This picture of beer I shared on my review is the beer that was offered to me by 1 of their bartenders there! He knew I had a long drive ahead and I didn't want to have any alcohol in my system to stay safe going home......this guy went out of his way to suggest a good non alcoholic beer and had to look top to bottom before he found it, but way worth the wait for his kind gesture! Please make sure to stop by this bar before or after a nice day at the beach

Lots of pinball options here and they are well taken care of. Very cool collection of games. We visited on a Sunday night so the atmosphere was more laid back. The pinball machines are $1 per game for 3 balls.

I was hesitant, I'll be honest. Sports bars are not usually my watering hole. With the wide selection of pinball available however, I had to check this place out. Boy oh boy am I glad we did! Excellent service, nostalgic music, separated section so the games don't feel cramped, and proceed to steal all your money. Will definitely be returning!

Great spot, love the pinballs and tots. But this is the second time I have pulled on a locked door on the weekend. Maybe the hours need updated on Google? It says noon. Bet the doors are locked and the open sight is off.

Mac and cheese bites are awesome. Love playing the games Wilson really made the experience a great time!

Wilson is the man, great bartender and very personable. He was always smiling, very attentive, and having a great time with us and other customers. He even introduced me to some cool people sitting a couple seats down. Highly recommend the break for a great sports bar environment!

The Break is my favorite bar in Charleston! I’ve been a regular for almost a year now and enjoy every visit I have. The staff is super friendly, drinks are great & th food is even better!! It only gets overwhelmingly busy game nights & for fight night, but even so it’s still a really fun environment. Don’t hesitate to stop by for a drink or snack - you won’t regret it!!

We came here primarily for the pinball, but have to say it's just overall an awesome place. If you're into pinball, it has one of the best collections I've seen outside of NYC, and almost all are premiums and very well maintained. Incredibly reasonable prices, a lot of space, ability to be part of or away from a crowd, a variety of games, and more TVs than you can shake a stick at. The bartender Wilson is also top notch, and incredible welcoming and friendly. Incredibly well thought out place. Don't be fooled by the strip mall type store front. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Charleston!

The best place to play pinball in Charleston. Lots of machines that are well taken care of. Staff is super nice.

One of the best establishments I have ever been in. I frequent this bar weekly and have never had bad service from any of the staff. Not to mention my daily drink is a Red Bull and vodka and I’ve never had an issue with them pouring it at the same time. I will continue to give my service to this establishment as long as I live in Charleston.

The food is good and a great price point. Sit at the bar because they staff a single server for the whole restaurant and you'll be lucky to get a drink in 40 mins.

Bartenders and cocktails should say there name when they are serving. Great atmosphere and a very chill spot. Just didn't seem like the bartender cared about anyone in the bar area. Overall it's a good kick it spot.

Let's start off with the good stuff: The remodel is fantastic! There are also lots of pool tables and games to play which we enjoyed very much. We only had one appetizer but it was good. On to the not so good stuff: There is a lot of inconsistency when it comes to prices. In just 2 weeks time, they raised all their prices. They also were not forthcoming in what beers were actually included in the happy hour pricing. I asked what happy hour prices were and was told $1 off all domestic drafts so I ordered a domestic draft and was served this same beer for a few hours. When it came time to pay the bill, I was informed that that specific beer did not count as a domestic draft so I was charged full price. What upset me most about this situation is that the bartender didn't bother to mention this even though I specifically asked about happy hour pricing and then ordered right after. And then, when I brought up the issue, there was just a shrug and a "sorry". The manager was not informed and there was no attempt to make it right. The bartenders are not very attentive, even on a slow night we had to search them out to get drinks instead of them making the rounds and checking on us. It is also super bright inside, I think the ambiance would be improved by a lower lighting level. We did mention our issues to the manager on our way out but he didn't seem to think there was much of a problem with our experience other than the not so great bar service. To sum it all up: I think that this place has a lot of potential but until the manager/owners figure out that you can't dick around with prices and allow poor service, they are going to end up pissing off a lot of customers.

About the third time I have been in there where the owners refuse to put on the Ac or it's broken. 8 of us left. Felt really bad for people who work there. They would of made some$$$ we all work in the biz.

The owner and family are some of the MOST AWESOME people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Words really can't explain what an amazing experience any and every one who walks thru the doors of The Break will have. Knowing and working with the Gardners has really changed my life for the better!!! Enjoy!!!

The absolute worst!! Yay! Please don’t go here unless you love terrible service! Very unsuitable bar tenders. Sports bar that doesn’t get it right.
